The beginning of the end? Like so many places in the Middle East now: Beirut, Ramallah, Baghdad, Cairo, Damascus, huge swaths of the city now lie in ruins. Many of these war-torn cities will never recover. Is this our modern legacy for the future?
August 26, 2013 – SYRIA – Russia issued a stark warning today against renewed calls for foreign military intervention in Syria after an alleged chemical weapons attack near Damascus last week. In a pair of statements, Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokesman drew comparisons between the current situation in Syria and the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq and urged countries “not to repeat the mistakes of the past.” Responding directly to comments by Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel about military contingency planning, Alexander Lukashevich said such remarks were “alarming.” Lukashevich reiterated Russia’s position that evidence the Syrian military was responsible for the suspected chemical attack was pre-fabricated in order to frame the government. He said statements by the United States, France, and Britain that blame government forces are “completely ignoring many facts pointing to the fact that this action as a provocation of the irreconcilable opposition.”
The White House has spent much of the weekend deliberating how to proceed, now that, as a senior administration official told ABC News, it has determined there is “very little doubt” that the Assad regime is responsible for the alleged chemical attack. “Based on the reported number of victims, reported symptoms of those who were killed or injured, witness accounts, and other facts, there is very little doubt at this point that a chemical weapon was used by the Syrian regime against civilians in this incident,” the official said. “We are continuing to assess the facts so the president can make an informed decision about how to respond to this indiscriminate use of chemical weapons.” White House officials also point out the attack was on rebel-held territory and apparently done using rockets that the rebels do not possess. The president has ordered his national security team to draw up possible strike options on Syria, but there is a divide in the White House on how forcefully to respond, although another official told ABC News if there is a strike, it must be “timely” — done soon enough to prevent another chemical attack. However, the White House does not want to act alone. U.S. officials are back channeling through the United Nations to see if Russia could be convinced to agree to a resolution. If there is no UN authorization, the United States would lead any possible strike, but, a senior official told ABC News “we do not want to do anything on our own.” U.S. allies must commit both “resources” and “political will” the official said. –ABC News

The evidence is most definitely fabricated. Russia and the other nations of the world are not innocent they are controlled by the same powers that control the West. Remember last year Russia, China and Iran all said WWIII will start if the US attacked Syria. Where are those threats now? Where is the promised S-300 missile system? Lies lies all of it. Isaiah 17:1 is about to come to pass, then Daniel 8 and everyone better watch out…

The lack of vegetation in these street scenes makes the whole situation appear even more unbearable. Do these city dwellers really live like this with such an incredible lack of ‘stimulation from nature’?!

Is it possible that the US was running chemical weapons through Benghazi to the Syrian rebels to set up just such a false flag operation to overthrow Assad? Call me paranoid, but nothing our government does anymore would surprise me.

Yes, you are paranoid. We make mistakes, and our troops occasionally go nuts, but FALSE FLAGS don’t fly. Requires keeping too many secrets.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, after 9/11 it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the US government was behind the gassing of innocent people to gain momentum for an invasion of Syria….just look at Operation Northwoods…..they wanted to do it in the 60s and 70s…they are doing it now.
I wouldn’t call you Paranoid at all……more of a realist.

So those ancient well-worn gears of world war are again swiftly being made ready to grind us all to dust, radio-active or not. There always has to be a focal point as an excuse to keep us all on a dread-filled war footing and this time it is the Syrian conflict. I thank God I’m far too old, infirm, and disobedient to be conscripted into the military, or to be sent down the mines. With few years of life left to me my only regret is the current power-hungry stupidity, arrogance, and greed of our world political, business, and religious leaders that also due to massed apathy, will leave a living Hell for our descendents to inherit. Remember folks, your ongoing silence is taken by war-mongers, as your approval of their actions, but just as you do, most family folks of your currently supposed enemies just long to live in peace.
YOU DON’T WANT WAR, AND THEY DON’T WANT WAR. SO SPEAK UP BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!

It would seem that those that are in power over here in the US are bound and determined to further destroy world opinion of our people. I just don’t see much good that can come with interfering with Syria’s civil war. It would appear that we are quickly going the way of the Roman Empire of old and somewhere in hell, Nero is laughing at us.

Let’s face it, even without UN military intervention Assad’s forces and the heavily armed rebel opposition between them are capable of reducing Syria to corpse-strewn ashes, and no outsider can truly judge who is right or in the wrong. So any outside intervention based upon definite unquestionable knowledge should be totally focused upon aiding the plight of the millions of innocent Syrian refugees who like us all simply long to live in peace. How many homeless refugees could be fed, clothed, sheltered, and given hope for the price of one missile or drone?

I would not support US Military Action in Syria. I would support giving arms to the rebels if they were not Muslims themselves and even part of the terrorist groups we have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. No, Syria is Russia’s problem, not ours.
According to news reports, Assad’s forces are winning this civil war with help from Iran and Hezbollah. Furthermore, there are reports of conflicts further North with the Kurds. No doubt this is a flashpoint and I am under the belief that if continued unchecked, will result in a clash between Western And Russian Forces.
Where is Israel in this? Stuck in the middle. All it would take, and there has been reports of rockets from Syria striking the northern border area, one small chemical rocket and I think it would be game on. Could be a rough fall/winter.
Don’t sit around fumbling, stock up on supplies for the family because this really could get out of control…………..and I am speaking about the use of weapons of mass destruction.
Just my opinion………..

It’s in the US interest, if it wishes to protect Israel, to support the Assad dictatorship in Syria, to do an about face in foreign policy, however embarrassing. The pattern has been shown in the middle east in Tunisia and Egypt. Democratic forces from the city start the revolution, larger conservatives in the country seize it.

I am confused as to why Russia have not attacked the UK yet, Russia have had the World Law on it’s side, the UK have broke every rule in the UN’s books over Eraq Libya et, Britain should be sorted once and for all, 90% of British people would support an attack on UK at this time.

This situation is so incredibly complicated that it falls into the “distress with perplexity” category. Chemical weapons or not, Assad is a “king” against his people: he is not Sunni or Shia Muslim but Alawite (gnostic Muslim), a minority of 2 million who are threatened with annihilation if another sect takes hold (due to an 80’s era “slaughter” of thousands of Muslim Brotherhood members in Hama); other sects are +/- 75 percent of the population. Also, the Alawites and Christians (also 2 million or so) are allies, and the only thing that protects the Christians from annihilation are the Alawites. The Syrian Christians may find refuge in Israel (Israel is preparing for this possibility), but the Alawites will fight to the death.
