Thousands of dead fish found in Lake Erie

January 30, 2011DETROIT – Officials say cold weather and a fish virus likely are to blame for thousands of dead gizzard shad found recently in Lakes Erie and St. Clair, the St. Clair River and the Detroit River. The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News report that the weather and viral hemorrhagic septicemia, or VHS, are suspected in the fish deaths. Researchers from Michigan State University and the University of Toledo took samples of dead shad Thursday and Friday that showed signs of the fish virus. Shad deaths are typical in the winter. It’s expected to take a month to determine whether the fish had VHS. Although not dangerous for humans, the virus has previously caused large fish kills in Lakes Ontario, Erie and Huron. It also has turned up in Lake Michigan. –Mlive

I live in the thumb area of Michigan and can verify that the winter temperatures have been normal ( if not above normal ). Trees began to bud as early as November of last year and the buds are still on the trees meaning we have had a mild winter so the “Officials” ( I just despise that term. Official liars? Official idiots? ) are absolutely lying through their teeth. If it is a virus then that would explain the die off in Lake Erie but what about Arkansas? Maryland, and other states?
2 winters ago pretty much every lake, pond and river froze over all winter and we did not hear of fish dying from the cold so I am very suspicious about this explanation.

It is really terrible what is going on in Nature….. at this extent, soon not only animals, but human beings are going to feel and suffer the same consequences……
    Thanks.

I can’t believe it. They’ll just tell us anything to keep us ignorant. I’m with Jaime. You never heard of thousands of fish dying after winter because the lake froze! People will find out what really happened one day and I can’t wait until we do. People please boil your water. The lakes are becoming unsafe.
