Moderate 5.2 magnitude earthquake shakes Egypt and Israel

June 2015 – CAIRO, Egypt – An earthquake was felt in several Israeli cities at precisely 6:34 PM on Saturday. Uri Frieslander of the Israeli Geological Institute said the first station to log the quake was in Eilat. The Israel Geological Survey reported that the earthquake measured a 5.2 on the Richter scale. It also reported that the epicenter was 90 kilometers south of Eilat. The American Geological Survey said it occurred on the East African Rift. Israelis reported feeling the earthquake from cities such as Be’er Sheva, Tel Aviv, Hod Hasharon, Holon, Netanya, Jerusalem, and as far north as Nazareth Illit.

David Azulai, a resident of the town of Omer in the south said: “I was working on my computer, my feet where on the ground and I started feeling the ground move. It was clearly an earthquake; my partner was in bed and felt it too. It brought me back to memories of the big quake in the 90’s. That was a serious earthquake. This time it was weak. I went to check on my partner to make sure she was alright.” Suzan from Ashkelon said; “we felt a light quake, my bed was moving about 2 minutes ago.”

There have been three earthquakes just south of the current epicenter since 1900, ranging from 6 to 7 on the Richter scale. Al Jazeera reported that the quake had been strongly felt in Cairo. Reports from Jordan say that the quake was felt in Aqaba, and some of the residents left their homes as a result. Car alarms went off in some towns in Israel. “There were four seconds of shaking,” said Roni from Eilat. “The furniture shook and the cupboards moved. We ran outside. You could feel the shaking in the whole city. On lower floors, too.” Yonatan Barnea, also an Eilat residence, said that everyone in the city left their houses and everyone felt the shaking. Residents of Kibbutz Lotan near Eilat said its cows began to move restlessly and mooing several minutes before the earthquake. –YNET

Bear in mind that magnitude has been adjusted, dumbed down, by the USGS to be almost 2 magnitude levels below their actual force

  So you are saying it was actually a 7.2 instead of a 5.2? Not likely. There is a gigantic difference between a 7.2 magnitude quake and a 5.2 magnitude quake.

    people reported significant shaking, but no damage that i could see. So, about consistent with a mag 5-ish quake. A 7+ magnitude surely would have resulted in significant/ widespread structural damages.
    
    i too would really like to see some citation(s) for the assertion that USGS has radically altered magnitude levels. i keep hearing it said, but when i try to google for reasonable backup all i find is the same repetitive assertion. seems suspiciously like unfounded rumor to me.

Speaking of Israel, many do not know that there is a earthquake fault under the Mt. of Olives that will split the mountain when Jesus returns and and when his feet touches the ground the mount will split. Also, there at least two record small fault lines near the Temple Mount Complex itself.

I seem to remember that the either fault line from the Mt. of Olives or another fault line in Jerusalem
connects to The Eastern African Rift from the dead sea or red sea area: Runs in a manner that it connects to other fault lines in the earth. But the current fault line, runs down the kidron valley on through Israel to the Dead Sea.
I believe that the Eastern African Rift will pay a significant role in the largest earthquake in history yet to happen.

A long time ago. In the 80s, Reverend Estep? Wrote that the dome at the Dome of the Rock—now a Muslim mosque—would be shaken loose in order for the New Temple to be built. I think the Israelis might have the power/technology to do that, but of course they probably have to be careful so as to not destroy other things. Just a thought— Tolline

  The Dome of The Rock is not a Mosque. It does have a recess in the rock where allegedly The Ark Of The Covenant is have supposed to have sat.
  The original Eastern Gate, which is buried, you could then probably find the location of the previous Hebrew Temples.

  The physical temple in Jerusalem will NEVER be rebuilt. There is no point. Jesus was the lamb slain from the foundation of the world. The veil in the temple was torn in two at the crucifixion signifying the END of the temple and it’s services. Jesus said not one stone would be left upon another and it came true in 70 A.D. Jesus is now in the heavenly temple ministering on our behalf (Read Hebrews) Jesus will come without warning (though there are many signs beforehand) but there will be no second chance for the Jews or the rest of mankind as portrayed in the “Left Behind” series of books. Everyone needs to be ready NOW. May GOD bless us in this rapidly approaching time of trouble heralding His imminent return. SSS

    Stephen: Dennis E. here: I differ with you in regard to your belief that the Temple will never be rebuilt. The Bible says there will be one. To you and me, a physical temple doesn’t have a meaning. But to Israel, or a large part of it, who still live worship under The Law of Moses, it does.
    And they have been practicing the temple rituals for over 2,000 years since the last temple was destroyed about 70 A.D. Presently, an agreement is being pursued behind the scene to having a sharing agreement between the people who worship on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
    
    What many people forget is that part of the reason of the Tribulation period is that God is dealing with Israel, trying to turn her heart back to him. Jesus 1st advent, his ministry focus was with Israel. Israel refused to accept the Gospel, it then it was offered to the gentiles and now the gentile period is closing.
