Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano erupts after 187 years

April 2010 – Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull erupts after being dormant for 187 years. Across the Icelandic landscape, the dormant volcanoes are stirring and awakening as the Mid-Atlantic Rift which runs through the heart of Iceland continues to widen due to divergence forces between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.  Iceland is splitting into– her days are numbered. Iceland is entering a new period of increased volcanism which could bring untold environmental misery to a host of countries spread throughout the entire Northern hemisphere as some of the most dangerous volcanoes on the planet are primed to explode.
