5.5 magnitude tremor creates panic in Peshwar

September 13, 2012 – PAKISTAN – A tremor of moderate earthquake was felt in Islamabad, Peshawar and other parts of Pakistan, however no causalities were reported. According to the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD), the intensity of the earthquake was magnitude 5.5 on Richter scale. The earthquake was felt in Islamabad, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Swat, Malakand, Dir, North Punjab and other parts of Pakistan. The focal point of the quake was near the Afghan-Tajik border. Quake strikes Crete: An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale shook the area near the Greek island of Gavdos, south of Crete, at 6.20 a.m. local time on Wednesday, according to seismologists. The earthquake, whose epicenter had a depth of 8 kilometers, was felt across the island of Crete. No damage or injuries were reported.
