Intensifying forces of nature: Townsville begins clean-up after freak storm and powerful ‘mini tornado’

March 21, 2012AUSTRALIASES crews and the Army will help the clean-up in Townsville after a freak storm ripped through the city, as the weather bureau warns of more heavy rain for the region. Residents have described terrifying ordeals of being forced to huddle in their hallways and bathrooms as the storm tore open their homes early this morning. Premier Anna Bligh and LNP leader Campbell Newman have flown into the city, putting election campaigning on hold as they assess the area. Ms Bligh has declared the region a disaster zone and says the storm was akin to a “mini-tornado,” packing winds of up to 130 kilometres per hour. About 60 properties have been badly damaged and some buildings have collapsed, with much of the devastation centred on a one-kilometre radius around the suburb of Vincent. Shane Fayers, his wife and their two children were forced to take shelter in their toilet as the storm destroyed the top floor of their two-storey home. “Front kitchen’s gone, living room, dining room and just the front porch that was all roofed that’s gone. It’s just smashed everything,” he said. Further down the street Tracy Thomas lost part of her roof and fence. Erin Matinca said, “The whole house was shaking. The whole upstairs was just shaking. The sound was quite horrifying. It was very scary, but it was all over in a matter of a minute or two minutes. It was just unbelievable,” she said. -ABC

I imagine that who gonna handle this website after Rapture.. :D

    • I will since I don’t believe in it.

        Alvin,
So you’re saying believers will suffer the same fate as the rest of humanity in these end times? Are you preparing to die too since you don’t believe God will rapture us before the Tribulation Period? I respect your beliefs. I believe in a pretrib rapture. I could be wrong though.

      • “We, must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Acts 14:22

I don’t value my life more than I value what my life is for; thus I have no fear of dying. When my purpose is fulfilled; I will pass if that is God’s will…thus, the only fear any of us should have in life is not knowing God or fulfilling the potential destiny He has ordained for each of us. Some believe in a pretribulation rapture…I do not.

none, not even mid trib or post trib?just curious ,Alvin?I dont believe in the pre trib that has been pushed down our throat for so long, but I kinda thought maybe a mid or a post.

      • I believe Christ will come after a period of tribulation has fallen over the world. Many saints will sleep duing this process while some will live through the ensuing turmoil ahead.

        LOL hot little topic.
My 2c = I would like to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

If He comes to scoop us away early that would be awesome….but I don’t want to be left hanging in desperation waiting if He doesn’t. Plus I just believe there are more scriptures indicating the need for ‘endurance’…why endure if we leave before times get tough? Then there’s the mark of the beast and how we’re not to recieve it etc etc etc.

I will stay brief Alvin ;) He’ll return when He does and thank goodness He will! <3

I don’t mean to be contrary but I also don’t believe in being politically correct. I would like to paraphrase Shakespeare … god by any other name is still god.
The idea that any one, regardless of color, race, or religion is any better than some one else or has to be “saved” , civilized, or converted is an idea that stems from a superiority complex. Think on it before you react. Be actionaries not reactionaries. People are people and all we really want is to be happy, have food on the table and raise our children to be strong.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
