Assad’s days are numbered. There is too much pressure from the inside and out for him not to realize that his time on top of the “mountain” is about up. And, while he must be feeling emboldened by Russia’s recent moves to prop up his regime, one has to wonder just how confident Assad feels about being able to ride out the storm.

It’s just so amazing to me that not so long ago Syria and Iran were busy forming their cute, little mutual defense arrangement, and now both are looking down the barrels of some big “guns”.

Will Assad seek asylum in the end? How far exactly does Russia’s support for the regime go? Are these the days of the world’s longest running city, Damascus, to become a heap of ruins as God’s word predicted long ago (Isaiah 17)?

As in all things, Time Will Be The Teller.

100 years ago, William Butler Yates commented on freedom, and terrible loss of life that always seems to come with it. “A terrible beauty is born”
These people will prevail in the end, I just hope the loss of life will end soon, sanctions or otherwise.

I guess the 4,000 dead triggered the UN Human Rights Resolution

    Follow the money!
Where did these citizens suddenly find the money / arms to launch this action?
Also, Libya is seemingly, perhaps already has, sent arms and as many as several hundred “rebels” to fight in Syria. This rather begs the question, why would a bunch of supposedly poor and war weary Libyan rebels want to go fight another war in anoter country? Could the answer be, as many people stated about the action in Libya, that these are just mercenaries?
Again, follow the money that is financing all this and see where it leads, before demonising the Syrian state. After all, if armed insurrection erupted in the any European country or the US, do people not think those in power would unleash a brutal crackdown on those opposing them? They already routinely have peaceful protestors pepper sprayed and beaten, simply for sitting down, so just think what they’d do if the protestors shot at them!

With living in the middle east myself, I am friends with a few Syrians. It is incredibly dangerous over there right now for anyone who is protesting or views an opinion which conflicts with Bashar Al Assad’s. Assad’s father once brutely murdered a whole city with absolutely no remorse for those killed. I am talking about elderly, innocent women and childern (including babies). Unfortuntely Assad has the same traits as his father and he may very well repond to dissidents in the same way his father did….
I pray to God that the people acheive their goals and remove Assad, however I also pray to God that the power which replaces Assad is worth the fight and loss of life. There are a lot of countries eyeing this fight and more than likely these countries will have some mechanism to influence Syria politically to suite them.

How misguided, I`m not defending Al Assad’s father, but if he “murdered” the city was because the situation got out of control and ironically the “rebels” were islamists, Al-Qaeda style. Make no mistake my friends, the next in the power will be the Muslim Brotherhood, just like in Egypt and the rest of the Middle East and Magrheb countries, so 1914 all over again…..

God just had 4,000 souls delivered into his care. Wonder what his concerns are. The politics of how they got there, or the sadness that they were not allowed to live out their lives as we are. At least here, (on this site) I can acknowledge them.
