Scientists admit they have no idea what’s heating the Earth

July 20, 2011JAPAN – Radioactive decay of uranium, thorium, and potassium in Earth’s crust and mantle is a principal source, and in 2005 scientists in the KamLAND collaboration, based in Japan, first showed that there was a way to measure the contribution directly. The trick was to catch what Kamioka Liquid-scintillator Antineutrino Detector (KamLAND) dubbed geoneutrinos – more precisely, geo-antineutrinos – emitted when radioactive isotopes decay. KamLAND scientists have now published new figures for heat energy from radioactive decay in the journal Nature Geoscience. Based on the improved sensitivity of the KamLAND detector, plus several years’ worth of additional data, the new estimate is not merely “consistent” with the predictions of accepted geophysical models but is precise enough to aid in refining those models. One thing that’s at least 97-percent certain is that radioactive decay supplies only about half the Earth’s heat. Other sources – primordial heat left over from the planet’s formation, and possibly others as well – must account for the rest. The first signal comes when the antineutrino converts the proton to a neutron plus a positron (an anti-electron), which quickly annihilates when it hits an ordinary electron – a process called inverse beta decay. The faint flash of light from the ionizing positron and the annihilation process is picked up by the more than 1,800 photomultiplier tubes within the KamLAND vessel. A couple of hundred millionths of a second later the neutron from the decay is captured by a proton in the hydrogen-rich fluid and emits a gamma ray, the second signal. This “delayed coincidence” allows antineutrino interactions to be distinguished from background events such as hits from cosmic rays penetrating the kilometer of rock that overlies the detector. This is more heat energy than the most popular BSE model suggests, but still far less than Earth’s total. Says Freedman, “One thing we can say with near certainty is that radioactive decay alone is not enough to account for Earth’s heat energy. Whether the rest is primordial heat or comes from some other source is an unanswered question.” Better models are likely to result when many more geoneutrino detectors are located in different places around the globe, including midocean islands where the crust is thin and local concentrations of radioactivity (not to mention nuclear reactors) are at a minimum.  –Physics.org

I’m thinking in much more simple terms. When you have a lot of people in one, enclosed room, it gets pretty humid. Could it not be anything to do with the 6.9 billion people that we have on the earth causing the elevated temps? People, along with their raised body temperatures from stress. The cultivation of Qi on this planet is astounding. Everyone who knows what Qi is knows that its a heat source. That, right there, would be my first guess! Bright blessings! 🙂

If it were just the earth, that would be one thing, but…. the other planets are showing signs of warming up, too.

    Interesting !

So, the implication is that, IF the earth is heating up Internally, causing / contributing to Global Warming, scientists and geologists don’t fully understand the ‘mechanism’ which drives the process.

    The angry sun

For months mounting fear has driven researchers to wring their hands over the approaching solar storms. Some have predicted devastating solar tsunamis that could wipe away our advanced technology, others voiced dire warnings that violent explosions on the surface of the sun could reach out to Earth, breach our magnetic field, and expose billions to high intensity X-rays and other deadly forms of cancer-causing radiation.

Now evidence has surfaced that something potentially more dangerous is happening deep within the hidden core of our life-giving star: never-before-seen particles—or some mysterious force—is being shot out from the sun and it’s hitting Earth.

Whatever it is, the evidence suggests it’s affecting all matter.

    Strange and unknown

Alarmed physicists first became aware of this threat over the past several years. Initially dismissed as an anomaly, now frantic scientists are shooting e-mails back and forth to colleagues across the world attempting to grasp exactly what is happening to the sun.

Alarmed physicists first became aware of this threat over the past several years. Initially dismissed as an anomaly, now frantic scientists are shooting e-mails back and forth to colleagues across the world attempting to grasp exactly what is happening to the sun.

Something impossible has happened. Yet the “impossible” has been proven to be true. Laboratories around the globe have confirmed that the rate of radioactive decay—once thought to be a constant and a bedrock of science—is no longer a constant. Something being emitted from the sun is interacting with matter in strange and unknown ways with the startling potential to dramatically change the nature of the very Earth itself.

Exactly what has scientists so on edge is the fact that the natural rate of decay of atomic particles has always been predictable. Indeed, using the decay rate of Carbon-14 has been a method to date archeological artifacts. The process, known as carbon dating, measures the quantity of Carbon-14 within organic objects. According to the numbers, Carbon-14 has a specific half-life of 5,730 years. Physicists have proven through exhaustive observation and experimentation over the course of a century that it takes 5,730 years for Carbon-14 atoms to decay into a stable Nitrogen-14.

The values don’t change—or at least they never have in the past. With certain evidence that radioactive decay can be significantly affected by an unknown effect from the sun, much of science is turned on its head.

    Rate of decay speeding up

Worst of all, if the decay rates of matter are being mutated then all matter on Earth is being affected including the matter that makes up life.

The mutation may go so far as to change the underlying reality of the quantum universe—and by extrapolation-the nature of life, the principles of physics, perhaps even the uniform flow of time.

In fact, some evidence of time dilation has been gleaned from close observation of the decay rate. If particles interacting with the matter are not the cause—and matter is being affected by a new force of nature-then time itself may be speeding up and there’s no way to stop it.

maybe they should start taking the hollow earth model more seriously … and perhaps they should be looking more closely at solar activity and considering the electromagnetic model of the sun and the evolutionary dynamics of the suns geometry … or did they not think that the sun, might evolve … never see the whole scientists .. always see the little details and can never put it altogether into a big picture

Bottom line for this article is at some stage I reckon there will come a time when the annomalies and goings on will become sooooo obvious that all these so called mainstream thought creators (media, etc) aren’t going to be able to hide it anymore from all the sleepy headed “consumers” of modern culture…. then what…?? HI THERE ALVIN, IF THERE IS ECOMONIC COLLAPSE,WILL THAT ENTAIL ALL BANKS SHUTTING THEIR DOORS AND WILL ONE BE UNABLE THENCE TO BE ABLE TO WITHDRAW ANY CASH FROM A HOLE IN THE WALL ANYWHERE ???
IF ONE HAD SAY, £50,000 OR IN THE US SAY $90.000 CAN ONE ASSUME THAT ONE WILL BE UNABLE TO ACCESS THEIR MONEY RENDERING THEIR CASH CARDS USELESS OR IS THIS THE WORST CASE SCENARIO ???

What if it’s as simple as this: We are taking away the lubricant of the earth? A motor without oil grinds like an earthquake. A motor without oil gets pretty hot. A motor without oil eventually dies. What does Earth without oil do? It’s just a theory. Personally, I believe that God is setting the table right now. Not us. Pray, sit tight and keep watching the signs.

These people are un-knowledgeable hacks. Julia Gillard knows what’s heating the earth, it’s CO2 and Tony Abbott.
    It’s all their fault.
But the good news is that if we pay a great big new tax on everything, she will control the heating, along with the amount of disposable income we have.
