5.8 earthquake strikes Bio Bio Chile

February 28, 2011CHILE – A 5.8 downgraded magnitude earthquake has struck near the coast of Bio Bio Chile at a depth of 16.7 km.  The quake comes in light of growing tension along the Nazca tectonic plate and in the region of the Southern hemisphere radiating outward from Antarctica. The seismic telemetry data is shown below in this snap-shot of the poweful jolt that rocked the Nazca plate as the seismic wave registered in Argentina (left) and Chile (right).
