      I think this time is significant for many reasons, and have many signposts that are letting us know something is different about this time in the planet’s history. Part of that equation means we should expect to see events stirring global change, occurring in rapid succession.

      Wow Dennis, also a lunar eclipse!! These sure are spectacular times… and marking your day… big stuff for sure!

      We re also all (personally and as society) re-hashing a major storyline dating back 15 years. (Mid august 1999). New chapter in the works.

    You said that Ebola is not airborne but can be transmitted through sneezes and coughs. I thought that was the definition of airborne. Can you clarify?

      Airborne: “These viruses and bacteria become airborne when an infected person coughs, sneezes, laughs, spits or breathes — the infection hangs in the air as a droplet.” -Discovery

      Ebola does not fit this classification – because it is not the air that infects a person, but instead the virus particles or virions in the bodily fluids that must invade the body.

    Yesterday may have been the scariest show on radio, and thanks for explaining “airborne” transmission (and clearing up my own misunderstanding); like Albert, I thought “transported via the air” means that it is airborne, so, perhaps, in this instance, “snotborne” is a more accurate descriptor. (Well, at least, it is descriptive, if not at all scientific.)

        Two things: The news feeds I have recently read and even one of the articles you posted indicated that Ebola was not terribly contagious, was only contracted via bodily fluids etc., etc..Do you believe this is lack of education of the vast majority of the medical community? Or are we speaking of two different strains?
        Second, after reading an article about how our dear government would handle a quarantine (read Executive Order) I am wondering if it is best to go home and stay there?

        I believe it is lack of education. If Ebola wasn’t so easy to catch, you wouldn’t see Western Emergency Services responders wearing protective gear from head to foot – fully covered. Ask yourself why? Everybody is talking about breathing this virus in through the mouth of nasal cavities (aerosol route via airborne transmission), when the largest risk exposure for the human body is not the nose or mouth- it’s the skin. The skin of an average adult has a surface area of over 21 square feet and accounts for 6% to 10% of your body weight. The skin is the largest bodily organ and the Ebola virus can easily invade the skin in close contact. If you touch this virus, or the skin of an infected person…you’re going to get infected. Ebola doesn’t need to be airborne. It can jump from host to host by skin contact- and it has already invaded 4 countries using this low-level mode of transmission quite effectively.

        This being the case – it should make us all shudder with horror to think what it would do if it was airborne?

        Alvin, Are you familiar with elderberry? Unlike the drugs being developed and researched this is effective even if the virus mutates. An Israeli scientist wrote her dissertation of its effects upon viral organisms. Her process and concentration is patented..not much use to drug companies. Listened to latest program am not sure which is more of a concern: ebola or Isis! Jacquie

        There are several articles. But here is an introduction for discussion for Avian flu. http://www.israel21c.org/health/study-shows-israeli-elderberry-extract-effective-against-avian-flu/ The action of elderberry is that it coats the cell so the virus can not enter to replicate. So the Elderberry must be in the blood stream for best results. Idea being prophylactic. For example I take one tablet a day and rarely get a virus. But, I’m curious to know it the RNA virus is any different? It can be taken after a person is aware there is an infection starting but it is not as affective as the virus has entered some cells already and has started the replication process. Taking this one step further, I wonder if the body fends off just enough of the virus to gain some antibodies? Don’t know. Just wondering. A fascinating possibility? No?
