WHO warns: antibiotic resistance is now a bigger crisis than the AIDS epidemic

April 2014HEALTH – Antibiotic resistance is now a bigger crisis than the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s, a landmark report warned today. The spread of deadly superbugs that evade even the most powerful antibiotics is happening across the world, United Nations officials have confirmed. The effects will be devastating – meaning a simple scratch or urinary tract infection could kill. The WHO said in some countries, because of resistance, carbapenems now do not work in more than half of people with common hospital-acquired infections caused by a bacteria called K. pneumoniae, such as pneumonia, blood infections, and infections in newborn babies and intensive-care patients. Resistance to one of the most widely used antibiotics for treating urinary tract infections caused by E. coli -medicines called fluoroquinolones – is also very widespread, it said. In the 1980s, when these drugs were first introduced, resistance was virtually zero, according to the WHO report.
But now there are countries in many parts of the world where the drugs are ineffective in more than half of patients. Antibiotic resistance is now a greater threat than AIDS in the 1980’s. Misuse of antibiotics by agribusiness and by third worlders, is breeding superbugs and destroying the effectiveness of antibiotics. I took a class on microbiology and the professor said that the age of antibiotics would definitely end, and we would go back to dying of urinary tract infections and scratches and such.

Many people swear that colloidal silver is the safest anti-biotic, anti-viral, and anti-bacteria product you can buy. It’s what was used before modern antibiotics came out in the 1930’s or 1940’s. Bacteria never gets resistant to it. From what a read, there are no side effects and people are not allergic to it.

I took it for a very bad upper and lower respiratory infection 2 months ago. It worked much faster and I didn’t suffer with the side effects I get from antibiotics. My fever was gone in 2 days. Never again will I take an antibiotic unless there is no other choice.

Medical professional says there are no proven benefits from it, but it you will read user comments your will find that everyone that tries it can’t say enough good about it.

Yes what you are saying is absolutely right. One more thing, why the bugs and viruses are getting resistant to antibiotics? do they have adoptive immune as vertebrates? and are they multicellular? Can they acquire resistance to antibiotic? if yes how?
or this is nothing but a mutation. If yes , how a exact gene which produces a particular protein or grants a resistance to bacteria can be formed? is it really possible?
Or the GMO’s which contains readymade antibiotic resistance gene in every cell of food, which we eat
is responsible for that. Yes that is the culprit. But if they open up this secret then they will loose the business and this they cannot afford. The antibiotic resistant gene used by every diff co is different, in short when these genes are horizontally shared by bugs for their survival against antibiotics they get the antibiotic resistance.

the answer is colloidal silver , the superbugs have no resistance to silver and cannot develop any resistances to it either , so the answer is simple.
oh wait a minute……the big pharma companies wont make any money from that product…….I guess we wont see that becoming mainstream medicine in a hurry then .

  4. just went through a two week ‘flu’ terrible! Used only home remedies ….and will continue with each and every single cell organism that feels I am a good prospect… however …. I build immunities. I have an arsenal of attack methods … final results …. never missed a day of work …. refused to succumb and I am winning. I should have been bed ridden …. I refuse to be taken down by a single cell organism …. they are stealthy but they are stupid

We are all to blame for this. We have all taken antibiotics at one stage or another in our lives. Its easy to blame big pharma companies but at the end of the day we have the option of taking them or not. I believe in natural remedies and the best solution to this problem is to learn what or forbears new and then share the knowledge.

Yes, colloidal silver, tea tree oil, coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, zeolite, baking soda for ph, spirulina and liposomal vitamin c and gluthione- long may they be available to the public. Notice these are elements mostly in their natural form so easy for the body to asborb or eliminate.

The wonderful thing about the things you mentioned Britt is people rarely have side effects and are much safer to use.

I don’t think “home remedys” will ever be as powerful as a properly working anti-biotic. It will be terrible when they’re gone. I’ve taken anti-biotics but I always take them properly. Full course and finish all of them. Taken like that they don’t give the bacteria time to acquire resistance. People taking them a few at a time like aspirin are what’s making them ineffective. Mass use in the food chain doesn’t help.

I respectfully disagree Sam. I’ve always taken my meds as prescribed. At 5 I had a severe reaction to penicillin. Since then I had reactions to 2 other antibiotics. Most of the others I’ve taken make me feel much worse for 4-5 days.

After researching the benefits of colloidal silver I tried it when I had an upper and lower respiratory infection. My symptoms started being relieved within an hour and within 2 days, fever was gone and I felt extremely better. I did use OTC generic brand of Mucinex expectorant to help loosen the congestion in my chest. Normally, it would take at least 4 to 5 days to get any noticeable relief.

The medical community dismisses the benefits of these types of treatment. They’re inexpensive and they work, and rarely cause side effects. Just look at all the disclaimers and warning on an average medication, both over the counter and prescription.

Do you know how the bacteria develops the resistance against any antibiotic? do they have adoptive immune like vertebrates? Are their all cells are similar or diff. Are they multicellular?
Just find out the answers for all these questions. At the end you will conclude that multinationals are responsible for this, and not the patient who do not take the antibiotic’s in recommended dose, for the recommended time.
Antibiotic resistant gene which helps them to segregate the cells in which gene transfer have taken place. This has spread theses genes in gmo’s rather to our food. After that horizontal gene transfer made the gut infections resistant.
If you do not believe this just go on google and search the things yourself, do not blindly accept what they say.
