Doomsday hysteria sweeps across Russia

http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSRvGF0N_ZxDR0UlngDkiGeMXmLZUC3FHD8HPFABPBplAOVF29MDecember 1, 2012 RUSSIADoomsday hysteria has gripped Russia and some of its neighbors. Travel agencies are selling tours to either heaven or hell and people are stocking up on food and fuel. Officials are publicly denying the apocalypse, hoping to calm the hype. Those awaiting Doomsday have three weeks to finish their preparations before the date of the much publicized apocalypse allegedly predicted by Mayan calendar, which is going to happen on December 21, 2012. Thousands of people across Russia keep stocking up their back rooms and balconies with food, fuel and other supplies they might need when disaster strikes. Some are even moving outside of cities because of the widely spread rumors that cities would be impossible to survive in after an apocalypse on Earth. According to one of the most popular scenarios, on December 21 the sun is going to line up with the center of our Milky Way galaxy which will cause an entire blackout on Earth and a wave of different natural disasters. Doomsday merchandize offered in Russia and Ukraine includes survival kits. In the Siberian city of Tomsk such items for “meeting the end of the world” include ID cards, notepads, canned fish, a bottle of vodka, rope, a piece of soap, among other items. The packages are said to be popular among customers, more than 1,000 kits have been already sold, the company says. Ukrainian entrepreneurs also offer a version of a doomsday kit. Just like Tomsk package, the Ukrainian one also includes alcohol: champagne for ladies and vodka for gentlemen. The rest of the kit consist of jack-knife, two-minute noodles, shampoo, soap, rope, matches and condoms. An apocalypse kit is not the only way for the entrepreneurial minded to cash in on the end of the world hype. One Ukrainian enterprise is selling tours to heaven and hell for December 21 promising full return of money in case of “not getting to heaven or hell.” A trip to heaven would cost about $15, while trip to the underworld is more expensive at around $18. The agency explains difference in price by saying that Hell should be more fun. While Ukrainian trips are even said by the firm behind to be just for fun, some individuals in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod offered far more expensive doomsday fair – one being a salvation trip in an arc. An internet ad offered seats in the arc for just 80,000-150,000 rubles, which is approximately $2,600-5,000. Bars and nightclubs are getting ready for apocalypse day in their own way announcing theme parties and inventing special cocktails like “Total Recall” – an extremely alcoholic drink that makes you “recall your entire life.” But doomsday hysteria isn’t isolated to just the former soviet Republic. In France authorities had to ban access to a mountain that doomsday theorists believe will be the only safe spot during the apocalypse on December 21. –RT

I would have hope we ALL would be praying or preparing in humility weather “doomsday” occurs or not, that we would pray and prepare for what’s to come, and for the children and elders in particular. To mock God doesn’t seem wise to me. Even those who do not believe in God or the Bible, it seems they are rather dull mentally to ignore the Earth changes. But isn’t this what the Bible speaks of in the end times?

its just the end of a long count calendar , nothing more , nothing less. simples…….the Mayans used many different length calendars to measure time , they were the time keepers , which is why they wept so hard when the Spanish burnt nearly all of their written records , which covered hundreds if not thousands of years of knowledge and scientific observations . this was a great crime against humanity . its no wonder that we don’t understand and have miss-interpreted the surviving scripts from their culture.
this year there was an unveiling of hundreds of carvings from the mayan culture which shed new light on our origins as humans and our place in the great scheme of things. these were previously kept hidden because of the implications of their content and what they show to be the truth.
things are changing very quickly now in this world , and its important not to get left behind, because of what you believe in. open your eyes and open your mind. look outside the confines of your conditioning. remove the blinkers . let go of your fears . embrace your shadow , and join the great spiral dance of life ❤

    blessed be

It’s not only the end of the long count calendar.

I wish people would stop falling for this nonsense. The calendar starts in August 11th 3114 BC. In 3114 BC Maya did not even exist. Who starts a calendar far before their time and ends ends it thousands of years in the future?

Lot of research shows, that after December 21 2012, there will be some kind of celestial event taking place. Besides, new research shows, that Maya did not even create that calendar.

The inherited it and were instructed to how to finish it. There is far more to the story than ”It’s just a calendar”

People are easily fooled by mainstream scientific palaver.

Well, it is a good idea to stock up on food and fuel and other supplies but I do not believe the world is going to end on 12.21.12. I believe we are fastly approaching the end of the gentile age and the second advent of Jesus Christ.
That process received a boost Thursday regarding the UN vote to bring The State of Palestine to non-member status in their endeavor to become a state.
It is strange how people act in the face of possible destruction.
In 1988, the person I worked for thought that the world was going to end in October and he was pondering if he should go out and have a last fling(he was married),get drunk,or so and he was a practicing catholic, which means he had knowledge of what is to come. Why throw it away?
Instead of repenting, people want to party and stand in the face of The Lord as Nimrod it seems?
As in the days of Noah, perhaps?

Exactly, Dennis! I also believe that we are nearing the time of Christ’s return! What bothers me is when I hear Christians say “just pray to whatever God you believe in and hold on tight!” Did God instruct us to deliver such a message? NO! Did a “politically correct” society whose main focus is on “tolerance”? YES! But in reality, Jesus stated that He is the way, the Truth, and the life. (John 14:6) No one will enter the Kingdom of God but through Him! So we, as Christians, need to stop coddling others’ beliefs, thinking that we are being “tolerant” and loving. There is nothing loving about supporting one’s ticket to hell. That’s not to say that we shouldn’t love people because they choose not to believe… but we must pray for them and at least afford them the opportunity to hear the Truth. That is what we are here to be until the end of this world… disciples. And there will be nothing left to hold on to in the end, but our relationships with one another and with Jesus!

Many people remain “blissfully” unaware of the true state of the world, whether politically, environmentally, and/or spiritually. That forged bliss will end when their power turns off, the entire earth is quaking, crime runs rampant on a global scale, there is water and food scarcity and the antichrist wages war against all who will not worship him. It will not be fun to watch those who refused to belief panic when they realize that they were not prepared.

Knowing little pieces of what is to come from Scripture, it is wise to prepare to some degree. But Christians should also realize that God will be our fortress and protector through all things, even the worst to come. So no matter how stocked your pantry is or how “ready” you might feel, it will be your reliance on God’s strength and wisdom that will give you life. And if any disciples of Christ should perish during these times, well, to live is Christ and to die is gain because then we would have an early ticket to see Jesus!

Keep praying for the country, the world, and for God to send you one person a day to share Jesus with. God bless you all!

I personally too do not subscribe to the doomsday or world ending – except in the light as you, a new age coming – as History repeats and History dictates. But each change is a crazy wild ride to be sure. I guess if you are a steadfast spirit you shall remain one. I guess I do believe in the Evolution of the Spirit groaning ever towards our Creator.

First, let me say to those who are distressed and afraid that the world will end on December 12, 2012, that, according to the Bible, God’s Word, this is absolutely not true! Jesus Christ will return to this earth and reign over His Kingdom of believers who have received His Sacrifice for all mankind on the Cross of Calvary. This period of time is known as the Millennial Reign of Christ. “Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years. Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.” Revelation 20:6-9 Clearly, this passage says that Jesus will reign on the earth for a thousand years, and people will be present, both unbelievers and believers. This is a future event which will occur according to God’s plan. Sadly, some people will follow Satan, even with Jesus Christ reigning over all the earth, but those who choose to follow Satan will be destroyed by fire, as the passage says. The only safe place is Jesus Christ. The only safe choice is to love and serve Him, Who is forever worthy of all glory, honor, and power!

In light of the foregoing discussion, it is possible to be at peace about the approaching date of December 21, 2012, even though there is a tremendous amount of hype and fear as the days go by. It would surely be unusual not to see or read accounts from television programs, news stories, and internet articles purporting that the world will end on December 21, 2012. All of these reports are based on the writings of Nostradamus, the Mayan calendar, and other non-Biblical sources. The God of the Bible created the earth, and He has revealed in His Word what will happen to this present earth according to His timing.

First, all people of all cultures, need to recognize that this world system is passing away. “Those in frequent contact with the things of the world should make good use of them without becoming attached to them, for this world and all it contains will pass away.” 1 Corinthians 7:31 (NLT) God created the earth and all that is in it for His pleasure, we are told in Revelation 4:11. After the sixth day of Creation, God looked at all He had made, and He said that it was good. Since He is perfect, the works of His hands also must be perfect. There is absolutely no possibility that the God of heaven and earth, the Living God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, could or would create evil. When sin entered the world through man, evil followed, because of mankind’s sin. God created people as agents of free choice, not as puppets to do His bidding automatically. His desire is that people will love and obey Him willingly, not by force. He made the way back to Himself, through the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ, His only Son, on the Cross, because the sin which passed upon all mankind separated the Lord from mankind, the crown of His creation, human beings with whom He desires fellowship. What a loving, wonderful, and forgiving God He is! He is the only true, eternal God. There is none like Him! If you have never been saved from your sin, turn to Jesus Christ, God’s Son, today. Repent of your sin and ask Jesus to forgive you and save you. His Spotless Blood will wash every sin away, and you will immediately become a child of God who loves you so very much. “There is no other name given under heaven whereby man can be saved.” Acts 4:12

Cannot help but think, whatever is coming our way will be outside of anything we have seen in history. Prepping is for sure very sensible.
It’s a conflict though. Does God help those who help themselves, or those who don’t.?
Should I prepare, or just put my life into the hands of God.? This is where it has always been anyway.

Preparedness is ALWAYS a good idea. If those people thought the world was going to end, why would they want a survival kit? That always baffles me and makes me think they haven;t really thought the situation through. We are living in the Biblical endtimes; the time before Armageddon. 12-21-12 is the beginning of a new era for mankind, though I doubt a good one. The media always buffers the news to make it show what the government cronies in their particular country want the people (SHEEPLE, really) to believe.

This is so sad. Hell will be more fun? Jesus said there will be weeping and knashing of teeth. And it’s for eternity. There will be no end. I have my “ticket” to heaven, bought and paid for on the cross and then Resurrection. Will anything happen on 12-21-12? I don’t know. Only the Father knows. I pray for these people that they might learn the Truth before it’s too late. But as Dennis E. said, as in the time of Noah.

People they want to think that they know when something is going to happen just by watching the news or reading the news paper but in reality they don’t know they are just guessing. What people don’t understand is that the World isn’t going to end us we the people will end us. If u look at what is happen over seas and all around the world there is people fighting in wars and riots and people are killed it’s cause of the fears of the unknown source of nature. Yes there has been more activity with earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, and other weather nature but hell we been having all this for yrs. And I know the bible says “There will be great Earthquakes in divided places” like Japan and Chili and ever here in the US (California state) but that is part of nature. People can’t assume that the end is near cause of what is happening.

It is so sad to see that people are literally panicking and going crazy. Or worse, greedy people taking advantage of the fear to turn profit at the expense of others. A tour of hell and heaven? A drink that is supposed to make you recall all your memories, and could most likely kill you? I don’t know whether or not if anything major would happen on 12.21..2012, but I could easily see high numbers of people commiting suicide on that day. Sad.

Many say “repent before 21.12.2012”, others say “better have a last party.” Both is nonsense – sorry Evangelical Christians – the correct way is much simpler.
I will be doing my medical job on 21.12., as if it were a normal day,
for I wish to stand up straight at the moment of End –
neither crawl in the dust whining about sins which probably have long been forgiven by the Lord,
nor wallow in superficiality (with or without vodka) in order to be no “nuisance” to the superficially-minded “others” during their last hours.
If you want to be righteous and reasonable during your possible last hours, go and do the same. you cannot loose anything this way but have a chance to win everything. how could the Lord reject souls of people who decide to be useful and righteous during Last Day? He surely won’t!
Ora et labora says Christian tradition. “Karma yoga is Supreme Yoga” says Hindu tradition.
And if NOTHING will happen at all – which is very probable – , those who keep doing their duties won’t be disappointed while others who made a big fuss about 21.12.2012 and spent money on such things as survival kits (ha ha!) will be very frustrated and deceived.

Doomsday Hysteria has its good points and its bad points.
A good thing is that a person who normally would not examine their spiritual condition or be concerned, might conduct a self examination. A good question would that what will happen to me if I was to die? Is all that talk about hell and heaven real? Do I want to take the chance?
A bad point is that so many people blow smoke that other people start to lose interest/belief and become indifferent. By the way, ………….who taught the Mayans about the stars, constellations, movement of planets and how to set a calendar?
It is true that some people/corporations prey on providing end of world supplies. You have to out think them. Yes, you do. Since most of us do not believe that the world will not end on that day, we will still have to live through future natural disasters and civil/economic unrest. So, having a pantry is no sin, neither is a self prepared mobile disaster bag(most important) and is no sign of being scammed.
If God gave the squrriels and the ants the wisdom(even dogs bury bones) to store food for the winter, why not us? On 12.21.12, if I live, I, as many of you will get up and go to work, I will get paid that day(hopefully) and will do my daily duties and you will do yours.
    Just my opinion………………….here
