December 22, 2010 – Continental U.S. lacerated by extreme winter systems on east and west coast. Up to 17 feet (nearly 6 meters) of snow has fallen in parts of the Sierra mountains, and locally over 18 inches of rain has soaked some lower-elevation hills of the Golden State. Locally over 14 inches of rain has fallen as far inland as southern Utah. – Weather Channel
