Heavy salt deposits turns lake blood red in Southern France

August 10, 2012 – FRANCE – It might look like a scene from a horror film but this is the breathtaking natural phenomenon which has met tourists at a popular French beauty spot. The stunning scenes in Camargue, southern France, may look very dramatic but are actually thought to be caused by the high levels of salt within the water. The bizarre sight was captured by photographer, Sam Dobson, from Moscow in Russia. With every small branch encrusted with salt crystals and all flora encased in white and set against the dark red background, the pictures could have been taken from the stills of a science fiction film. Mr Dobson said: ‘Every small branch is covered with crystals and with the red water as a background it looks like something extra-terrestrial.’ –Daily Mail

    I am confused. When did we start accepting blood red water as normal because the above statement implies just that. What is causing the high levels of salt in the water and why now? Why not in 1974? 1983? 1941? These are the questions that I feel should be asked rather than down playing these type of extraordinary events.

    Now if that photo doesn’t look like a prophecy being fulfilled, I don’t know what does. Where did all the salt come from?

    Why does every explanation have to have a science theory? Can’t people just except that fact that God is in control and that maybe this is a warning of what is to come. In the end of days the water will turn into blood and my belief is in what the Bible tells me not this theory of too much salt. Again, I see this as a warning. And we are so caught up in trying to find a explanation instead looking at what God is trying to tell us.

      I believe God’s universe is controlled by scientific laws–not magic. God is in control of everything; he’s the master Scientist and the universe is His laboratory. Everything DOES have a logical explanation, but Our Lord–Our Master Scientist is running all the tests. So, yes, too much salt is turning the river red, and yes, it’s God who is using His Science to create the effect, but it’s not happening by random acts of magic.

    Anyone have any clarification on this article? Natural phenomenon, or thought to be caused by high salt levels? If so, what caused the the high salt levels? How unusual is this phenomenon?

    This is from earlier this year.. a entire sea turned red.. I think its a side affect of all the earth changes taking place..

    According to that report, it is due to high levels of bacteria that thrive on salt. The “lake” in S. France is actually a salt water lagoon.

    somebody plz enlighten me how salt can cause this problem? I’m a salt lover i add salt (table and sea) to everything, including a glass of water here and there. I’ve yet to see any of my salt loaded food or drink turn to blood. so what gives. anyone with info plz share, I’ll be watching this thread!

    This is not an unusual thing, here in Ausrtalia we have them as a tourist attraction, they are called ‘the pink lakes’ and there are a few of them, and yes, it is a salt phenomenon.

    Waters all around the planet are turning blood red. Remember the Gulf of Mexico? Here’s a crater lake in Vanuatu that turned blood red in 2005.

    The physics may be different but the reason is because it is written as a sign of the end of days for those with eyes to see.

      True enough, but there is still a natural law of science that explains it. Revelation is a little heavy and criptic for most people. Agreed it IS a sign of the times and we all should be prepared. . . .

    I was there yesterday and observed this natural, recurrent and well known phenomenon, at Aigues-Mortes, in France. This area is one of the biggest sea salt producer in Europe and these shallow extraction basins are also an attraction for tourists. When water evaporates from the extraction pools, they increase salinity and the algae Durnalia Salina starts producing a rose to red taint. Stichococcus bacteria also contribute to turning water red and are absorbed by shrimps. These shrimps are then eaten by flamingos and turn them… pink. Alvin : I very much appreciate your site and insightful articles. However, popularity is synonym of responsibility and credibility. Hence, i would expect you to avoid raising unnecessary anxiety.     Dennis E, I concur with your thought. It does look like the cranberry ads on TV. It seems to be a much larger version of the commercial. Of course we know this isn’t the real case.

    They claim that high levels of salt content in the sea is the cause. Then how about the rivers,ponds, fresh running water falls turning blood red?…There is no High salt content in a river…but you could see the Yangzte river turning red, Canada waterfall turning red, Australia public pond turned red, Blood red rain fallling in Kerala…Therefore “High Content Salt” Theory is contradictory….This phenomena is actually fulfillment of Biblical Prophesy.
