Kamchatka volcanoes add to S02 atmospheric inundation as eruptions intensify- video

One of Russia’s largest and most active volcanoes erupted Friday sending ash more than 10,000 feet into the air. Shiveluch (also spelled Sheveluch) is one of the largest and most active volcanoes on Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula. It has been spewing ash and steam intermittently—with occasional dome collapses, pyroclastic flows, and lava flows, as well—for the past decade. –Irish Weather On-line

Alvin this is off topic but i wrote to you last week saying ” why don’t we have earthquakes like everyone else in the world”. (Not that I wanted any) , but I think i spoke too soon. There has been two in Queen Charlotte Islands
M 4.9 Depth 20.2 and another M 4.9 depth 13.0. From now on I won’t say anything. Love this web site. Lots of good information. Thank you Alvin.

    Changes possible in Caulle eruption:
Reporte Especial de Actividad Volcánica No 43 Complejo Volcánico Puyehue – Cordón Caulle
jueves, 16 de junio de 2011
The National Service of Geology and Mining (SERNAGEOMIN) – Volcano Observatory of the Southern Andes (OVDAS) reports that from 22:00 local time on June 15, the constant tremor signal that had been recording * was replaced by a harmonic tremor * with greater dominance of low frequencies (0.7 – 1.2 Hz), reaching maximum values of displacement reduced from 60 cm2, * considered very high .* (…)
On the other hand, there have been 6 events / hour on average, most VT type (process of breaking rock). Most of the earthquakes did not exceed magnitude (ML) equal to 1.0. It highlights the registration of one (1) VT-type event with magnitude (ML) equal to 3.0 recorded at 00:07 local time today, located 3 km from the point of emission of gases and ash.
(…) The eruption column did not exceed 3 km in height, showing a white coloration. From Birdies sector ashfall was reported fine with a rate of about 1mm/hora.
No correlation was observed between the amplitude of tremor with the height of the column, as in previous days. This fact, coupled with the trend toward spectral low-frequency tremor, the high intensity of the tremor, and the shallowness of their origin inferred from the attenuation of amplitude with distance, suggesting two possible scenarios include: (1) the rise of a magma body that can end the outpouring of lava and / or (2) pressurization within the magmatic body surface could generate a new explosive event.
(…) Forecasts indicate that the dispersion of pyroclastic present a SE direction during the day. In these conditions, the potentially affected areas are east of the complex, including the headwaters of the sector Golgol step and International.
The possibility of occurrence of larger explosive events continues with the consequent threat of pyroclastic flow generation. Consequently, it highlights the dangers of proximity to the upper reaches of the river valley and river Nilahue Buttress by the occurrence of these phenomena, especially in the area upstream of the bridge and La Mula Quirrasco sector.
(…) The main channels that can be affected by lahars in the current situation are the northeast: Nilahue river, river Buttress; southeast: Gol Gol basin and channels Puyehue National Park.
The eruption process continues and may return to experience increased activity similar episodes or higher in intensity to the already occurred. Therefore retaining the volcanic alert level in Level 6 – RED MODERATE ERUPTION .

  6. Hi EP, have spread you far and wide on forums etc. Can you tell me how to access the NASA Modis images? I simply want to get back to quake predicting via cloud patterns since Flash Earth was pulled by NASA. I have found the site but its written in Swahili and as simple to navigate as a blackberry bush. Is there a real simple way to access Modis terra / aqua cloud images?

  7. No surprises, “WE” have been expecting them to have gone off already, overdue on some timescales, but time is a difficult medium to work with. Expect more of everything.

Does this mean that it will not come as a surpirse when not far from today, a supervolcano and many other volcanoes suddenly erupt?

    • I think with every new volcanic eruption- the supervolcanoes are moving that much closer to a potential event. The intensification of eruptions appear to be occurring in concert over a larger geographical area and that is more indication that we’re seeing unprecedented agitation across tectonic plates. We’re certainly seeing more seismic activity at rifts and along transform fault boundaries. Others may be shocked- I will not be surprised at all.

    Hello All,
I’m new to the site, and find it very interesting. Sorry EP haven’t read the book yet! I have checked “youtube” and earth changes, viewed dutchsense, and patrioticspace, but them all seem gloom and doom. I recently started following earth changes at the time of the Japan earthquake. This site seems much more reliable with information. I see many people here are prepared for a “coming” devastation event. I have read information on pole shifts, New Madrid quakes, Africa sinking.. and of course how our governments aren’t telling us anything. I am kinda confused on all the info, what to take seriously, and while I know no earthquake, or volcano eruption can be predicted, nor the solar storms. How does one know where to go, or when to go! Sorry if this is off topic, just trying to get a grip on what is really happening.
    Thanks all!
