Fukushima radiation has reached North American shores

P
April 2015 ENVIRONMENT Seaborne radiation from Japan’s Fukushima nuclear disaster has reached North America. Scientists at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution detected small amounts of cesium-134 and cesium-137 in a sample of seawater taken in February from a dock on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It’s the first time radioactivity from the March 2011 triple meltdown has been identified on West Coast shores. Woods Hole chemical oceanographer Ken Buesseler emphasized that the radiation is at very low levels that aren’t expected to harm human health or the environment. “Even if the levels were twice as high, you could still swim in the ocean for six hours every day for a year and receive a dose more than a thousand times less than a single dental X-ray,” Buesseler said. “While that’s not zero, that’s a very low risk.” Massive amounts of contaminated water were released from the crippled nuclear plant following a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami. More radiation was released to the air, then fell to the sea.
Ecology TEPFrustrated by the absence of monitoring by U.S. federal agencies, Buesseler last year launched a crowd-funded, citizen-science seawater sampling project. He’s tracked the radiation plume across 5,000 miles of the Pacific Ocean, using highly sensitive, expensive equipment at his Cape Cod, Massachusetts, laboratory. There, he analyzes samples sent to him by West Coast volunteers and scientists aboard research cruises. In October, he reported that a sample taken about 745 miles west of Vancouver, British Columbia, tested positive for cesium-134, the so-called fingerprint of Fukushima because it can only have come from that plant. It also showed higher-than-background levels of cesium-137, another Fukushima isotope that already is present in the world’s oceans because of nuclear testing in the 1950s and 1960s. In November, Buesseler reported that Fukushima radiation had been identified in 10 offshore samples, including one 100 miles off the coast of Eureka, California. The Vancouver Island sample was taken Feb. 19 from a dock in Ucluelet, a working harbor community in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
It contained 1.5 becquerels per cubic meter (Bq/m3) of cesium-134, the Fukushima fingerprint, and 5 Bq/m3 of cesium-137. A becquerel is a basic unit of radioactivity. That compares to 50 million Bq/m3 of the isotopes near Japan just after the meltdown and about 1,000 Bq/m3 near Japan now, Buesseler said. Scientific models have predicted that in general, the plume would hit the shore in the north first, then head south toward California. – Statesman Journal (excerpt)

That’s why I stopped eating pacific ocean fish/crabs a long time ago.

So just curious. If the level of radiation in Japan near the plant was 50 million Bq/m3 right after the disaster and is 1,000 Bq/m3 now. Does that mean there is more to come? What happens if California is struck by that massive earthquake that they are predicting might happen and a subsequent tsunami washes all that stuff into central California, into the farmlands? Is that why H.A.A.R.P. is causing the drought? So that we will get used to finding our food supply from other sources. Add that to what came here airborne, I am thinking that our soil must be more contaminated than they are telling us.

  3. I am sure we are all of us affected if not by this then all previous testing and leaks which have happened throughout the years.. Sad. Very sad

  4. In a world of bad news and doom and gloom, Do Not Fear! There is one place that is truly total safety, security, protection; where nothing external can harm us: in the pure awareness of God’s Presence in the one ascension Body of Christ Jesus. If we abide on the Vine of Christ as a branch, Jesus abides in us and we abide in Jesus. Darkness is covering the earth and thick darkness her people; but the Light of Christ rises in us and his glory rises upon us and in his Presence there is fullness of Joy and delight and pleasures evermore! The only safe place is in the one body and one Spirit of the resurrected Jesus.

“After he resurrected he appeared to them and upbraided them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed Mary Magdalene who told them he was risen. And Jesus said, ‘He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe (not become aware of the Presence of God within) will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who become aware and awake to my Presence and Kingdom within: in my name/divine nature, they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will not be hurt by any deadly thing; they will lay their hands on the sick and they will recover. Then Jesus was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went forth and preached (expressed Christ’s nature in thought, word, and deed) everywhere, while the Lord worked WITH them and confirmed the message by the signs that attended it. Amen” Mark 16:14-20

In todays news – There is what they are calling a blob of warm water off the west coast. This they claim, is causing the drought in California. So where did the warm water blob come from? Strangely it has arrived at the same time as the junk and radiation from Japan has arrived.

@ Niebo . Excellent links. Another way to know if Fukushoma reached North America much earlier is to watch the sky for the following :- a)sunsets, pink and orange -no longer red , ,b) pink tinge to clouds , sky or horizon, which can be seen by the naked eye or picked up by a camera, c) a distinctive deep pink blotch/patch in the sky sometimes at sunrise/sunset, ,d) a ‘twin sun’ appearence (solar refection) seen in some places, and e) late afternoon rain with the sky and rainbow turning pink. ( See pictures of the July 2014 pink sky and rainbow event in Atlanta ,Georgia ).

Oops…meant Fukushima. Also ,meant pink tinge to clouds , sky or horizon during daytime , visible to the naked eye or picked up by a camera..

have seen such here in Pac NW. how did you learn what this means?

See ELEmentSky Photos by CesiumSky / Photobucket . Have seen some of these colours here in New Zealand during sunrise / sunset.

Also see CesiumSky Photos by Cesium Sky / Photobucket . The various radioactive elements unleashed by Fukushima are visible in the sky – Amongst them besides plutonium and uranium are :-cesium ( pink ) builds up in heart muscles causing heart failure regardless of age and Strontium ( inkish blue ) mimics calcium and is absorbed by bones and can cause cancer or brittle bones. Also , see for dimmed light appearence during daytime caused by barium which reflects back sunlight. Can also cause snow to melt slower because of reduced sunlight.

yeesh, those pinky clouds are COMMON here now… i’d thought it was just getting smoggy from overcrowding. of course, i grew up in SoCa in the 70’s and don’t remember any vivid colours except for the sunsets then.
so the pink clouds are a new-ish thing here and i’ll bet the timing correlates all too well with Fukushima…
i’ve also been noticing a lot more instances of “strange light”. you know, those times when the daylight falling through your livingroom window lights up the room with a noticeable odd hue: blue, maybe. or green… purplish has been happening. so you head outside to see what strange thing the clouds are doing now…
