Massive Texas blizzard kills 30,000 head of livestock

Blizzard Texas
January 2016TEXAS The Texas blizzard “Goliath” may have claimed more than 30,000 animals this week in Texas. A statement obtained by Breitbart Texas from the Texas Association of Dairymen (TAD) says that the winter storm named Goliath “hit hard at the heart of the Texas dairy industry.” The reduction in the state’s milk supply, and dairy and other financial losses, as well as the emotional impact on farmers of losing their animals, is enormous, says TAD Executive Director Darren Turley. Turley said it wasn’t until Tuesday that many dairy producers in the area largely impacted by the storms – from Lubbock west to Muleshoe, Texas, and north to Friona – could gauge the impact by surveying their property.
Turley says that the region includes half of the state’s top ten milk producing counties which amounts to about 36 percent of the Lone Star state’s dairy cows – an estimated 142,800 cows. Turley estimates that about five percent of the mature dairy cows, and a yet-undetermined heifers and calves were killed. He expects losses to climb as farmers are able to survey the damage. The TDA official said the next challenge will be how to handle this sudden and massive loss of animals. He said, “The ordinary methods for disposal cannot handle the volume of deaths we are seeing from this storm. The Texas Association of Dairymen is working with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and other agencies to determine how the animals can be disposed of both quickly and safely.”
The TAD is working with Texas Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas Department of Agriculture, and other state and federal agencies to determine whether financial assistance is available for impacted dairy farmers. The TAD executive director said, “Like all agriculture, dairy producers always operate at the mercy of Mother Nature. With Goliath, she dealt a particularly harsh and costly blow to the area’s dairy producers, from the death of thousands of livestock they spend so much time caring for to a loss of milk production both over the weekend and in the future.”Blizzard kills thousands of cows and threatens Texas dairy business. –Breitbart

Why the H weren’t the dairy cows confined to the barn! The modern dairy cow barns are huge.

Weather warfare, Geoengineering, weather weapons. This is what caused the storm, now delete the truth moderator, you are a fool if you don’t admit this is going on, some are uninformed, some are blind but many are involved and silent.

Totally agree on this Laura , the weather forecast is often told well in advance so why do farmers leave livestock out not heeding the warning to keep them safe and then complain at the loss of their animals neglect is what I see and hear , pity goes to those animals whose lives depended on the owners and trust.

I live in the area impacted by this blizzard.
Most of those cattle deaths were calves in hutches.
The snow was driven by 60mph wind and simply overwhelmed the hutches. Most died from suffocation. There was absolutely no way to avoid the his situation. 99.9% of the time, the hutch calves are protected from the weather.
The majority of the dairy farms here are not enclosed because we normally do not have these type of weather events.

    BTW Vince Carr,
    Your classy!!!
Your vile venum is what gives your ilk a bad name.

They were beef cattle and they never stay in barns. In a storm like Goliath, they suffocate from snow in their nostrils. At maturity the have been selling at about $2000 apiece, a loss of about $60,000,000.

The mass death of cattle is devastating to say the least. Dennis: agree the land is cursed, under judgement. I live in the S.E. and we have had major flooding which will get worse when rivers crest this week. I’m on high ground . These tragedies are part of the trashing of America big time. Next Jihadists will be killing en masse American “infidels”. This nation is over and done. Voting won’t fix anything ever.

After re-reading the article, it penetrated my brain that the article said dairy cattle. My apologies… The dairy cow ranches are just about as big as the cattle ranches, with 5,000 head not uncommon. They do not stay in barns in the SW. James 767 is correct.

Bone up on I Corinthians 13. You are dismally short on charity, justice and mercy, sounding like an eye-for-an-eye pagan or one of those infidels-offend-me types.

You don’t know the God of the bible, we are called to be like Jesus. No one is good but God alone. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Spoken like a true Christian. If you believe in the Bible as you say you do, then “somewhere” you will find the verse which says, “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” (Matthew 7:1-2).

If you really believed in the bible you would not hope for catastrophe on anyone – white, black, republicans, dems, christian or otherwise… hypocrite. crawl back in your shell… Climate changes naturally ever since this earth was made. Its a natural process even though anthropomorphic activities may certainly contribute.

I can believe the post you’ve submitted wishing harm on a race and or group of people over what you think is global warming. Now I’m not here to judge you, that’s up too God.
I will say this, before you blame the white race, Republicans, or anyone else you have a hatred, or grudge against, do your home work on what’s really causing all the weather changes around the world. At your agei hope your right with god

Sorry to burst your bubble, there, Vince… But global warming has been debunked as a sham countless times over… Why else do you think they have resorted to now calling it “climate change”, which is something completely different and a natural cycle. If you are going to post angry hateful comments towards republicans, and white Christians (of which I am a white Christian), then I suggest you get your facts together first, instead of spewing the government agenda you have been brainwashed with…
How about instead of believing in the global warming MYTH, you educate yourself on the government using geoengineering and weather manipulation, via HAARP and chemtrails. There you will find the true source of the weather warfare being played out before your blind eyes… Just sayin’

It’s time to begin uniting in Christ, truly the time is here. We stand on this side of eternity ALL with the same struggles; World, flesh and Satan. We don’t need to be charging or dividing our brothers and sisters in Christ. You will need me and I will need you. I might be wrong in some thoughts and actions but they are not meant to bring you harm.
