Patient in New York City tests positive for Ebola – took subway from Manhattan to Brooklyn night before

October 2014 NEW YORKA doctor in New York City who recently returned from treating Ebola patients in Guinea tested positive for the Ebola virus Thursday, becoming the city’s first diagnosed case. The doctor, Craig Spencer, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital on Thursday and placed in isolation while health care workers spread out across the city to trace anyone he might have come into contact with in recent days. A further test will be conducted by the federal Centers for Disease Control to confirm the initial test. While officials have said they expected isolated cases of the disease to arrive in New York eventually, and had been preparing for this moment for months, the first case highlighted the challenges surrounding containment of the virus, especially in a crowded metropolis. Even as the authorities worked to confirm that Mr. Spencer was infected with Ebola, it emerged that he traveled from Manhattan to Brooklyn on the subway on Wednesday night, when he went to a bowling alley and then took a taxi home.
Thomas W. Geisbert of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston helped develop a vaccine that was effective in preventing Ebola in monkeys. A person infected with Ebola cannot spread the disease until they begin to display symptoms, and it cannot be spread through the air. As the person becomes sicker, the viral load in the body builds, and they become more and more contagious.
Dr. Spencer’s travel history and the timing of the onset of his symptoms led health officials to dispatch “disease detectives immediately began to actively trace all of the patient’s contacts to identify anyone who may be at potential risk,” according to a statement released by the department. It was unclear if the city was trying to find people who might have come into contact with Dr. Spencer on the subway. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority directed all questions to the health department, which did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the issue. At Dr. Spencer’s apartment in Harlem, his home was sealed off and workers distributed informational fliers about the disease. It was not clear if anyone was being quarantined. Health authorities declined to say how many people in total might have come into contact with Dr. Spencer while he was symptomatic. Mayor Bill de Blasio, speaking at a press conference Thursday evening before the diagnosis, said Dr. Spencer has given health workers a detailed accounting of his activities over the last few days. “Our understanding is that very few people were in direct contact with him,” Mr. de Blasio said. Dr. Spencer had been working with Doctors Without Borders in Guinea, treating Ebola patients, before returning to New York City on Oct. 14, according to a city official. He told the authorities that he did not believe the protective gear he wore while working with Ebola patients had been breached but had been monitoring his own health. –NY Times

The 1918 Flu Virus Pandemic infected over 500 million people across the world, including the USA, remote Pacific islands and the Arctic, and killed 50 to 100 million of them, that’s a 10 to 20 percent death rate.

A large factor in the worldwide occurrence of this flu was increased travel. Modern transportation systems made it easier for soldiers, sailors, and civilian travelers to spread the disease.

Now we have Jumbo Jets and the Fast Spreading Ebola Virus… With a 50 to 70 percent death rate!

Please read this verse in Numbers 35:33:

“‘So you shall not pollute the land where you are; for blood defiles the land, and no atonement can be made for the land, for the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of him who shed it.”
Will this pandemic be a fulfillment to this scripture???

We need to pray that the USA will repent like Niniveh did, or else … .

America is getting this Ebola thing under control.  No more irrational fear, hysteria or panic.   Now its just the facts & anger at our continuing stupidity.

Dallas had Duncan…NY has it’s doctor.    Not just ANY doctor…but one who worked  directly with Ebola patients in Africa…two weeks ago!!   Why was he free to wander the city…until symptomatic?!      This NY doctor didn’t even self-quarantine/isolate himself.  As a “Doctors Without Borders” volunteer he knew better.   He was reckless and unconcerned about his level of risk factors UNTIL he came down with symptom!   Yet many defend him.

**When will mandatory,  automatic/immediate quarantine kick in for ANYONE traveling from an Ebola Hot Zone?   Quarantine them in empty converted airport buildings.   Don’t allow them to enter the cities until free of Ebola symptoms for 21 days.

How many other returning healthcare workers,  NGO contract workers, businessmen/employees were given a pass and are currently wandering around our cities…with no official orders to self isolate?

Those coming from Ebola Hot Zones for any reason…of any race… potentially place themselves & the public at risk.   Ebola knows no professional, racial, ethnic or country of origin  boundaries.  All Hot Zone travelers should be suspect, officially quarantined & monitored.  No special treatment or exemptions.  Period.

according to Official numbers, some 150 people travel between the US and West Africa every single day. That works out to roughly 13000 travellers just since the beginning of August. Far more traffic is between West Africa and France/french-influenced nations, therefore an even higher number of travellers to/from all those countries. Far far more traffic than that going back to the beginning of the plague, and beyond.
Among those many thousand travellers have certainly been many hundred volunteering health-care professionals returning to their homes from exhausting stints in heavily affected regions. Most of whom promptly set about a return to “ordinary life” immediately upon return..

Yet there have been NO pockets of this plague popping up around the world, although all odds indicate that IF all is as it appears, certainly by now many would have.
so the question begs… how certain are we that all is as it appears

something Terrible is happening in West Africa. the question to ask is Why hasnt it ALLREADY spread beyond those three nations, and in a very rampant way.

      • I am beginning to think something is funny too, especially after they claimed the nurse is ebola free after only 8 days, when it is supposed to have a incubation period of 21 to 40 days, some thing is really wrong here,I agree if this is real ebola,it should have spread more.

i have been wondering whether there may be TWO concurrent epidemics in West Africa, that one which at least some lab tests have identified as ebola, and a second Something which has so far gone unidentified as its manifestations bears great visual similarity to ebola

go out a speculatory limb for a moment with me…
ive been looking into the possibility of an epidemic of hemorrhagic malaria. turns out the idea’s not quite so far fetched as it first seemed. google the term, quite a bit of detailed research shows up- it actually is a thing.

there are at least 2 less common varieties of malaria which cause severe, often fatal illness with ebola like symptoms including bleeding. throw in the fact malaria is mosquito-vectored rather than by personal contact or through the air…. ergo, lack of mass transfer elsewhere. (…yet. because mosquitos do migrate. it just takes a lot more time)
a plausible possibility? could we be looking at a co-occurring epidemic of hemorrhagic malaria that has so far been missed by the radar? after all, the whole world- all its Experts included- are looking for ebola.
a mosquito vectored plague would spread like wildfire in a tropical region it calls home. yet would not spread broadly beyond that region without the equally broad spread of infected mosquitos.
how certain are we that the several thousand cases of “confirmed” ebola were all confirmed through laboratory testing? methinks most have been “confirmed” empirically in the field instead. which could quite conceivably provide the opportunity for a second, similarly manifesting pathogen, to go undetected right up into the present.

This is probably the worst possible senario because Ebola could spread like wildfire down in the subway tubes. Also, I don’t think that people have considered other factors like the rats that live down there and what that can do in terms of spreading this virus…

SO… I read on another site that the lower limit temp for Ebola to be contagious is 100.5. Since his was only 100.3 he wasn’t contagious!? LOL…

15 years ago the experts said the Great White Shark was a lone hunter, was only found in certain oceans with certain temperatures and was not territorial. All wrong.
The experts told us Ebola wouldn’t make it to the US, it only spread by direct contact with bodily fluids, couldn’t be transfered by air, and shutting down flights to and from the infected countries wont work………
