Second Ebola patient traveled on commercial airline day before symptoms appeared – CDC requests passenger list

October 2014DALLAS Second health-care worker with Ebola traveled on Frontier flight 1143 from Cleveland to Dallas on Oct. 13, CDC says in e-mailed statement. CDC asking 132 passengers on flight to call 1-800-CDC-INFO, plan to begin interviewing passengers about flight, monitoring those who need it. Health-care worker exhibited no signs, symptoms of illness while on flight, according to the airline crew. “At approximately 1:00 a.m. MT on October 15, Frontier was notified by the CDC that a customer traveling on Frontier Airlines flight 1143 Cleveland to Dallas/Fort Worth on Oct. 13 has since tested positive for the Ebola virus. The flight landed in Dallas/Fort Worth at 8:16 p.m. local and remained overnight at the airport having completed its flying for the day at which point the aircraft received a thorough cleaning per our normal procedures which is consistent with CDC guidelines prior to returning to service the next day. It was also cleaned again in Cleveland last night. Previously the customer had traveled from Dallas Fort Worth to Cleveland on Frontier flight 1142 on October 10. Customer exhibited no symptoms or sign of illness while on flight 1143, according to the crew.
Frontier responded immediately upon notification from the CDC by removing the aircraft from service and is working closely with CDC to identify and contact customers who may traveled on flight 1143. Customers who may have traveled on either flight should contact CDC at 1 800 CDC-INFO. The safety and security of our customers and employees is our primary concern. Frontier will continue to work closely with CDC and other governmental agencies to ensure proper protocols and procedures are being followed.” –Zero Hedge
Nurse transferred to Isolation Ward: A Dallas nurse diagnosed with Ebola is being transferred to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. An ambulance with a crew clad in hazardous-material suits arrived at the hospital Wednesday afternoon and left for Dallas Love Field. There, aerial video showed the crew leading a person in a yellow hazmat suit and booties onto a jet. A statement from the Atlanta hospital Wednesday said Amber Joy Vinson was being transferred to Emory from Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. However, a spokeswoman for the Dallas hospital declined to confirm that Vinson had been removed from the facility. Vinson was one of the nurses who cared for Thomas Eric Duncan, who died at the Dallas hospital last week of the Ebola virus. Another nurse is in good condition receiving treatment for Ebola. Below: Nurse boards plane in full hazmat suit enroute to Emory for treatment.

I assume your question was rhetorical, but…

If it doubles the number of infected every week, after 26 weeks

      33.5+ million infected
      16.7+ million dead

America, and any other country that has to handle that will probably have collapsed by that point.

Ignore this post, it’s doubling approx every 3 weeks not every 1, number would be significantly smaller, by a factor of A LOT!!!

The following link may be of interest – for it shows categories and incidents that I’m not seeing on the ‘news’ [aka bureaus of dis-information].
It also shows that there are several more outbreaks of other diseases worldwide that I have heard NO – or – only a few comments about.
As ‘Goober’ on ‘the Andy Griffith Show’ used to say ‘Surprise – Surprise’ –

    http://www.globalincidentmap.com/

We truly are living in the times when there is so very little truth being spoken or ‘reported’:
“THE WICKED WALK ON EVERY SIDE, when the vilest men are exalted.”
    (Ps 12:8 [KJV])

WHY? My personal understanding is that – in plain Biblical, non-PC English, there are very few of “those in authority” [politicians and ‘burro-crats’] worldwide – from the local to the national levels – that actually believe “the truth” of “the word of the LORD:

“He that is not with me is against me:
and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.”
    (Luke 11:w23 [KJV])

{43} Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
{44} YE ARE OF YOUR FATHER THE DEVIL,
and the lusts of your father ye will do.
HE WAS A MURDERER FROM THE BEGINNING, AND ABODE NOT IN THE TRUTH, BECAUSE THERE IS NO TRUTH IN HIM.
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own:
FOR HE IS A LIAR, and the father of it.
    (John 8:48-49 [KJV])

@ Niebo – Thank you for the caution – but I already knew that THEY are listening – AND your Biblical reference SAYS IT ALL!!! When I read it I got on ‘shoutin’ ground’ – All praise and honor and glory be unto “the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”
        – My burden is that it is long past time that CHRISTians make a stand for “the truth” – which is only found in “the word of God”!!!
Beside that – the most that THEY can do is to send me home – and I know from personal experience the absolute truth that:
        (3) Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
        (4) Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
        (Is 26:3-4 [KJV])

Wait.  So  this 2nd Ebola worker traveled from Dallas to Cleveland & back….AFTER contact with Duncan?   That is potentially hundreds of contacts during her travel.  Where have other “contacts” traveled locally or by plane?   The contact web is expanding.

According to the CDC in this statement, she had a fever of 99.5 degrees BEFORE boarding the aircraft.

“Dallas Ebola Nurse Amber Vinson ‘Should Not Have Traveled,’ CDC Head Says”

    http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/ebola-virus-outbreak/dallas-ebola-nurse-amber-vinson-should-not-have-traveled-cdc-n226551

If the CDC are to be believed, she was already infectious when she flew that day.

Looks like Ebola is meeting and greeting the American people already.

Not sure how 99.5F is actually a fever. A persons’ temperature fluctuates throughout the day. Mine in normally 99.5F in the middle of the day. In the morning it is around 97.5.
I think nothing of it when my temperature measures 99.5F. My doctor never has either when they measure it at 99.5F in the Doctors’ office. Only when it’s at 100F and up has my doctor considered my temperature being a little high.

you have a point about body temps fluctuating… very few are a constant 98.6… some people (like you) naturally run hot in which case 99.5 is only the high end of their typical range, others (like me) always run cold in which case 99.5 is a solid fever and they feel they are burning up.
because my typical range is 97.2-97.9f (not a good thing but separate from this discussion), i rarely go higher than 98.2f. i was ill with a high fever (for me) last winter… i was burning up- at 99.7f
a thing to wonder, what is Nurse Vinson’s typical range?

  6. But what about the @Delta Airlines flight 5 days ago? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOI4ReOiK4E and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUYbGrKU_bw Delta isn’t saying anything about the probable Ebola-infected man who vomited on several passengers and was allowed to walk off the plane and into Tampa without being stopped by a Hazmat team (or anyone else) on their Flight 1760.

    • Yellow Bird says:

what causes strong suspicion the man is “probable ebola-infected”?
he was dark complected and vomited en route on a domestic flight.

-did he travel from africa? couldnt he be from any number of non-english speaking countries on some other continent?
-did he travel from the West African region specifically? africa is a very large continent, and it is travellers from the heavily affected nations (Guinea, S.L., Liberia, Congo) which bring much concern. travellers from unaffected regions (of africa and elsewhere in the world) are currently still unlikely to have this disease.
-he threw up on several passengers evidently while Delta was in process of trying to land. Travel sickness often causes passengers to vomit from the motion and pressure changes. what additional details would cause strong suspicion of ebola rather than simple sudden motion sickness?
-the flight he was on was Domestic, not international. is there any indication he had been anywhere prior to San Francisco?

if the man does have ebola, very soon there will be reports of infections coming from florida and maybe san francisco. one should definitely be watching… but with only those details available, to me it seems more likely he was ill with something far more mundane.
i appreciate having the links you posted. it is good to follow out all reports, just in case.

If TWO of the nurses caring for Mr. Duncan have come down with an ebola infections then the odds are that there will be more from the 71 or so people who cared for Mr. Duncan. As time goes by the remaining days infected people will start to pop up rather quickly, probably in the next 7 days.

Read the book, “Curing The Incurable With Intravenous Vitamin C” written by Thomas E. Levy, MD, JD, PhD, and professor of medicine at Tulane University. He has treated major viral infections successfully with mega doses of IV vitamin C.

Sorry to sound so blunt, but lets not forget the regular joe janitors who may or may not take that much precaution when cleaning up. Also a nurse friend of mine used to swab her husbands nose with Neosporin when he flew a lot. Catches stuff, then you can blow your nose later. (not a cure all, just one more little tid bit.)

Matt Drudge twitted this today and I read it off another site but he twitted one word: SELF-QUARANTINE .

Alright, allow me for a moment to make this BOLD suggestion. What ever plans you might had for travel, vacation, put them on hold. Sit down or through pillow talk, with your other half, prepare to be quarantined up to 30 days in your(our) homes and discussed what you need to survive if you could not go to the grocery store for 30 days. if you do not have a significant other half, look in mirror and say, self, what do I need to do. If I could be so bold, two items, WATER and PERSONAL HYGIENE/SANITATION.
To some, this is rather dumb, to others, they haven’t done nothing and you are wasting time because the PANIC has not set in yet………The run on the grocery stores has not begun.

The stock market has fallen 1,000 points in the past week.

Where I live and in neighboring cities, people are complaining about the high utility costs in town meetings. Significant price increases.

    Times are changing……
