WHO warns of ‘catastrophic’ consequences of Ebola outbreak: disease is spreading faster than our ability to control it.

July 2014 AFRICA The director-general of the World Health Organization warned Friday that the Ebola outbreak in West Africa is spreading quickly and the consequences could be “catastrophic” if greater efforts to control the outbreak aren’t put into place now. “This outbreak is moving faster than our efforts to control it,” Director-General Margaret Chan told the presidents of Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Ivory Coast at a gathering in Conakry, the capital of Guinea. “If the situation continues to deteriorate, the consequences can be catastrophic in terms of lost lives but also severe socioeconomic disruption and a high risk of spread to other countries,” she said. The world’s largest Ebola outbreak is in its fifth month and escalating in a poor corner of West Africa. Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia have together reported 1,323 cases, of whom 729 people have died. Neighboring Ivory Coast is at risk if the outbreak isn’t tamed. Also Friday, French authorities recommended for a second day that nationals suspend all travel to West African countries where cases of Ebola have been identified in a bid to prevent spread of the deadly disease to France. The WHO’s Dr. Chan praised the leaders gathered for their concern and political commitment—demonstrated this week with new measures such as deploying soldiers to quarantine stricken neighborhoods in Sierra Leone.
But, she said, “This meeting must mark a turning point in the outbreak response.” The dead include more than 60 health-care workers, she said, and other health-care staff have been infected. They include two Americans who are now believed to be under evacuation to the U.S. for intensive care. Dr. Chan said: “This is an unprecedented outbreak accompanied by unprecedented challenges.” Among them is the fact that it is caused by the most lethal Ebola strain. “Chains of transmission have moved underground. They are invisible. They are not being reported,” she said, “Because of the high fatality rate, many people in affected areas associate isolation wards with a sure death sentence, and prefer to care for loved ones in homes or seek assistance from traditional healers,” she said. “Such hiding of cases defeats strategies for rapid containment. Moreover, public attitudes can create a security threat to response teams when fear and misunderstanding turn to anger, hostility, or violence,” she said. However, she said that Ebola can be stopped with a well-managed response. She said that she would lead an international response coordinated by the WHO. Yesterday the organization said that it was launching such an effort with its member states that would cost $100 million.
The demands created by the outbreak in West Africa “outstrip your capacities to respond,” she told the four presidents. “The situation in West Africa is of international concern and must receive urgent priority for decisive action at national and international levels,” she said. Meanwhile, the French Foreign Ministry warned that travel to Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Nigeria should be suspended unless absolutely necessary. French citizens who travel to the area should avoid going to the jungles of Guinea and the areas identified in Sierra Leone and Liberia, the ministry said, adding people shouldn’t consume or manipulate meat from jungle animals and should avoid direct contact with body fluids from people suffering from high fever. When returning to France, people traveling from the four African countries should contact immediately emergency health services if they show symptoms such as fever. –WSJ

As cold as this sounds, I don’t think they should let anyone leave or enter the country. It has to be contained, to prevent world pandemic. One plane full of carriers could do it. (Could have been done already!?) Maybe the world’s Scientists could gather and work on a cure? Sad and scary. God Bless us all.

So, now that the government has a “lethal” strain of Ebola, they are bringing it to North America so it can be unleashed here. WONDERFUL!!!

Oh yeah! The next headline you read will be, “Ebola CRISIS in America!”

1,300+ DEAD from the Ebola “outbreak” within (how many years?), and the WORLD is on it! The
“World” wants to STOP this outbreak. Yet, there have been more than that many KILLED in Nigeria last year, and MORE than that killed this year already, in the name of Islam!

    WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE???

One is due to a disease, the other is due to IGNORANCE!

    WHICH IS WORSE?

I have watched this for months. There is NO EXCUSE for bringing it into the USA!
Here is one of 3 study threads I began, one on the spread in Africa, one on patients brot into USA and this link is to the one on EBOLA information.

DONT expect correct info from CDC or WHO
DO expect it to get loose in USA.
One patient in Georgia, another patient in Texas
Hello border – perfect medium to spread the virus – which is airborn

If the CDC is so confident that they can control it at Emory, why have so many health care workers contracted it? Wasn’t the CDC reprimanded just last month for mishandling containers of deadly viruses? Is this the same agency that we are supposed to trust when they bring Ebola to Atlanta? Can you imagine health care workers contracting it and going out into a city the size of Atlanta? CNN’s Dr.Sanjay Gupta said that the Ebola virus can survive OUTSIDE the body on contaminated surfaces for 2 weeks or longer. If you play with fire…you’re might get burned.

The WHO knew of this back in 2003 in Uganda. They thought they had it under control, how wrong they were. The people in these regions are poor and will do what ever it takes to support their family, the only way to contain the out break would be to have a huge bubble over the country’s, you know that’s impossible, so the next thing to assure the possible safety of the rest of the continent and world would be to destroy the infected. It sounds like a horror movie come to life? No one would want this, but what would you rather have, the infection destroyed or the world destroyed? Take the United states for instance, if you had to make a choice would you rather 1 state be destroyed or the whole U.S be destroyed by an infectious disease? You would think the whole world would come together on something as dangerous as this, but yet we just keep on killing each other all across the world, what a shame, and we call our self’s HUMAN BEINGS!

“The dead include more than 60 health-care workers.”

How is this possible if the disease is NOT airborne?

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada (http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/lab-bio/res/psds-ftss/ebola-eng.php):

INFECTIOUS DOSE: 1 – 10 aerosolized organisms are sufficient to cause infection in humans (21). [Please read the footnote on their page for the “eye-opening” study which published this conclusion]

MODE OF TRANSMISSION: . . . In the laboratory, infection through small-particle aerosols has been demonstrated in primates. . . .

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it might also fly like a duck!

We are being systematicly LIED to, repeatedly. Ebola virus rides a sneeze, a cough, it remains alive and active on any surface at least 10 minutes – for others to touch and contract this bug. This was a plan from long ago – UN Agenda 21 – depopulation – and Obama has thousands of illegals to run this virus all over the USA.

I think you will find that 60 dead health workers is now over 100.
Another issue is unreported cases and deaths. There are areas where it’s known there are infections and where health workers cant get too.
In past Ebola cases, government agencies have stumbled on remote villages where the entire population has been wiped out.
One of the above countries mentioned has already stated the disease is out of control and has started to implement martial law type actions to try and control it.

Emirates has already stopped flying to West Africa. Wait for more airlines to follow suit within the week.

I believe that this virus is a man made virus from a lab. Call it to get rid of mankind. They started in Africa which has the poorest people and maybe it now to extinguish the poorest and depopulate the people. Where will it go next to cut down the population? Perhaps America?
