Has the Sun gone to sleep? Strange solar behavior baffles astrophysicists

January 17, 2014UNIVERSEScientists are saying that the Sun is in a phase of “solar lull” – meaning that it has fallen asleep – and it is baffling them. History suggests that periods of unusual “solar lull” coincide with bitterly cold winters. Rebecca Morelle reports for BBC Newsnight on the effect this inactivity could have on our current climate, and what the implications might be for global warming. –BBC

Alvin, thank you for this important information..

I watched this video a few weeks ago. ( Not sure if it is portentous, or just pompous)

    http://www.howglobalwarmingworks.org/in-under-5-minutes-ba.html

Anyway, if visible light is dropping, then so is infrared.

I have tried to find information on the lifespan of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, but was unable to find any consensus.
Trying to find any scientific information on what effects, fewer or no sunspots will have on our atmosphere, is difficult if not impossible, if you look for consensus. (The only consensus I could find was 97% of scientists agree that we are causing global warming…. wish I knew who the 3% were!)

Maybe they simply do not know.

Al Gore and the entire democratic party were wrong about global warming. Behold ! The sun is not putting out normal radiation, and so…..be prepared! You who live on planet earth, for a bad moon is rising and you shall know the icy fingers of winter for a spell.

I grew up in Nebraska and so this last cold snap was nothing as compared to how it used to be. Years ago, the temp would drop well below zero for multiple days in a row but not so nowadays! We also received way more snow back then as well. I’m actually grateful for every single snowflake that falls from the sky at this point! So yeah, I would be happy to receive some ongoing ‘normal’ cold temps once again. However, I would be absolutely ecstatic if we started to receive the snowfall accumulations as we once did…. even more so…eh? ; )

BTW – I had a fairly large response to the comment you left of: “Al Gore and the entire democratic party were wrong about global warming.” And also the part about the sun being involved as well. But then I decided not to post my response as I may have totally misunderstood what you actually meant by it! (hah)

I seriously cant tell if you are being snarky or not about Al Gore, the entire democratic party, and/or the lack of activity of the sun being connected to global warming or not? Are you saying that Al Gore’s theory, and the Dems have been correct all along…. in a tongue en cheek sorta way? You are too vague for me John! (grin)

Hm… IDK about that. I am a democrat (and very proud of it) and I have always called it Global Climate Change. And yes, I agree… that it may be very cold very soon.

  3. In case the scientists forgot … doesn’t 1 baktun take us back to the beginning of the Maunder Minimum??? And doesn’t 1 Ahau take us back to a great Flood???

baktun, that would be one of the long counts by the Mayans, just how many years would that be? I’ve always wondered if the Mayans had a good system of counting, just not a good starting point.

No, the sun has definitely not gone to sleep. Just 10 years ago scientists announced just the opposite. Anyone following recent solar activity saw the sun spitting out X-Class Flares just like a Gatling gun last June. Not exactly sleepy behavior.

What a bunch of horse pucky if you ask me! I mean this scientist, (Richard Harrison) was given the “NASA Group Achievement Award”, so that should tell you something! Sorry but NASA = Government, and so I take everything they spew out with a grain of salt. We must all be especially careful when the topic involves our wellbeing, and research all we can on it! I must also add that there is a beaucoup pay off for anyone with a title to lie for the Elites as well! It matters not which country they are from either! Remember, when it comes to the Elites, redirection, and deception, is the name of their game, due to their greed. I’ve also added some interesting links that may offer folks a bit more insight on this topic as well. Have a calm and blessed day everyone……..

I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss NASA’s science. IMHO, they’re one of the few organizations that can be relied on to do hard science. Their landmark study on climate change basically came to the conclusion that the sun warms the earth.

Actually, the full UN report on climate change also came to the same inconclusive conclusion regarding our impact on climate change. Only no one reads the full report, it’s several hundred pages long, and the governments of the world conspired to not allow the truth out, so they wrote a summary report that came to exact opposite conclusions of the full report. Such a scandal!!!

    Dear Alvin,
I really wanted to share a 3rd link that I found most interesting, but then I decided against it. The reason I decided against it is because I worried you wouldn’t post it due to its name. Now then, I myself wouldn’t have named this video documentary, (which is the same name as the link below) as they had….. but that’s me. (shrug) I however must admit, that the name of this documentary didn’t deter me from viewing it either! And I’m glad it didn’t! Because once I viewed it… I found that this documentary is packed full of wonderful and important information to be aware of! Therefore, I’m going to go ahead and share the link with you and let you make the final decision.
Lastly, once again, I share my thanks for this wonderful website. ♥ (smiles)

PS: If you would like to include this link within my above post, that would be fine with me as well. Then you could just delete this note? I say this because I don’t know if one can combine comment stuff or not? Anyway, I was just trying to be helpful. (heh)

As far back as the Bush Administration, NASA and a consultant John Casey has warned them that a change in the SUN was coming. One term they used was “Cold Sun” where there little or no sun energy output which meant colder (vicious) temps during winter, more volcanoes, more earthquakes and could last for a decade or so. Results in less food production also.
Book by same title. Belief is that a repeat of temps between 1793 to 1830 has begun.
