The sea froze so fast that it killed thousands of fish instantly

January 14, 2014 – NORWAY – Norwegian public radio (Google-translated) reports on the instant dead of thousands of fish in a bay in the island of Lovund, Norway. An air temperature of -7.8 C (17.96 F) combined with a strong east wind froze the sea water instantly, trapping and killing the fish you can see in this fishapocalyptic image: The dog owner says that he has never seen such a phenomenon. NRK claims that the herrings were chased by cormorants into the bay when the deadly freezing happened. I ams sure it doesn’ matter much, but tre article said it was small pollock (sei in norwegian) that was quick-frozen.

I live in MN and I am sorry but this article is a hoax, no way in 17 degree Far. weather is a lake going to freeze that fast, regardless of how fast the wind is going and if you look at the leash, well, it tells you the dog was photoshopped into the picture. They pulling your leg on this article and love this site, I think you better watch where you are pulling this stuff from.

    I looked at the other pictures that came with the article from Norway and hearing about Niagara Falls doing the same, I wonder if it was not colder, if the temp was -17 degrees Far. or colder it is possible. We had just last week -28 but the wind chill made it -50-60s and in that weather our car windshield popped and cracked, you can also throw a glass of hot water outside and watch it freeze in mid-air. We also had in this type of weather couple years ago had a sliding glass door just pop and spider crack all over the place because of the cold, like last week.

  -7 C here in Quebec would not “flash freeze” anything here in Quebec..that actually is fairly balmy..
  Define flash freeze please..and was it fresh or salt water
  -40 C ..that was cold..the wind chill is factored into that now..which can bring it down nearly 10 degrees..it is typically stated..” with wind chill…”. something looks “off” re the picture but I can’t put my finger on it.
  I have heard of ducks getting their feet frozen but I thought..they must have been “sleeping”.

Just saying, that is a retractable leash and this could very well NOT be photo shopped as the grey cable would be nearly invisible because it is practically the same color as the water and fish back ground. The red material only goes so far and the rest is cable. You can see the black ends to each end of the red part of the leash. That is what the cable is attached to.

I do not think the sea froze that fast, but the fish froze and got trapped. So part of the article is correct. The picture has also been in Norwegian papers and scientist have commented on it

Amazing report … and I consider there are works here beyond our science understanding and beyond the comprehension of many in mainstream … and under certain conditions, such a freeze is very possible … and I don’t think this will be the last time we’ll see or hear of such an event ..

Don’t look, SEE. These fish were already dead before the water froze. They died belly up before water froze, most likely from radiation poisoning of the water.

Side note… If the wind was a contributing factor…which actually works the other way around, but lets just say it was…. The surface wouldn’t be smooth as glass now would it?
