They are poached for their horns…

You don’t say what the horns were for.

Their horns & $$$$$, Pazuzu?? Not very hard to figure out, now that they are all gone, what will be the next animal to suffer & become extinct at the hands of Unhumane humanes. I can’t handle this, Now my Childrens children an so on, will never, ever, get to see one of these Beautiful creatures unless it is a picture or a movie, GOD give’s us the Wonderous Creatures and ignorant people take them away, kill em all a slow death, the humanes responsible for their extinction.

It’s all about our addictions to all our civilized comforts……and consumption and throw away lifestyles……and insular, alienated lives. How many of us live in self sufficient communities? We are ever needing to usurp more land, trees, mining and oil resources…..fresh water. Even those few remaining indigenous tribes living far from “civilization” are at risk of becoming extinct. THEN who would we learn from?…..how to return to and become a part of the natural world once again? Those of us who survive must learn to do this. I suggest doing a series of Vision Quests, for guidance on finding your way to help remedy this. Becoming a healer, educator, shamanic practitioner.

The Chinese Government and others are supporting this so the bad guys the poachers do it for the money. In which I agree with you. It is bad, and sad, and tragic. There should be much more conservation efforts put into place to stop this.

because no horns are available, certain people will have to suffer thru their infirmities.

There are still hundreds of Black Rhinos, living today in Africa. The problem is people are taking over land with development, and they are poaching them for meat, fat, and their horns. To conserve land for Rhinos, means the lack of land for other animals…it’s a never winning battle. The World Wildlife Fund will likely step up, just like they have done for Pandas and Polar Bears.

Well on the black market the chinese pay big money for the horns since the locals have no money they poach them. So we can thank china and the locals and the rest of the world for not stopping this. It’s a shame that animal is killed just for its horns no other reason greed

Why don’t we just adopt a mandatory “shoot-on-sight” and “execution upon conviction” policy towards poachers? Make it deadly enough and maybe they will think twice – “is the money worth my life?”

Think about who is really at fault here. Is it the poacher that kills it, or the consumer that buys it?
LikeLike
It can be both. If it’s not available for purchase, no one could buy it, but when it IS on the market, it probably fetches a good price, so people do it.

Thanks again chinese medicine. Such delusional crap!

They should have a death penalty for anyone that pooches or kills these sorts of animals as when they are gone its going to affect the world faster and in different ways than they think

In some countries they actually use armed troops to defend against poachers.

@Dave: Maybe others say the same about you and teeth (in case you don’t have horns)… 😀

I’m personally extremly against poaching, but one thing that people never seem to realize is not everything that is poached is poached just for the purchase of being sold on the black market. Some people that live in africa have no other way to get money to support there family. so in there eyes it is either poaching or survival.

IS the world any worse off for ALL the various species of animals that have already become extinct? NOPE!
SO, if this “Black Rhino” becomes extinct, exactly what’s going to happen to the Earth? REALLY! The ONLY people that are going to “miss” it are those paying THE POACHERS FOR THEIR “HORNS!!!”
For the rest of the World…”LIFE GOES ON!!!”
LikeLike
i doubt the “WORLD” would miss HUMANS! the Earth will survive just fine without US as well. (and honestly, i feel that we’re well on our way to causing our own extinction.)
