Rocket fired from Gaza hits Israel: shaky peace truce threatens to unravel

February 26, 2013ISRAELA rocket fired from Gaza exploded in Israel on Tuesday, the first such attack since a November truce and an apparent show of solidarity with West Bank protests after the death of a Palestinian in an Israeli jail. Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, a militant group in Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s West Bank-based Fatah movement, claimed responsibility for the rocket strike, the Palestinian Ma’an news agency said. No casualties were reported. Hamas, the Islamist group that controls the Gaza Strip, said it was investigating. There was no military response from Israel, hours after the rocket slammed into a road near its southern city of Ashkelon. The rocket was the first to hit Israel since a November 21 truce brokered by Egypt that ended eight days of cross-border air strikes and missile attacks in which 175 Palestinians and six Israelis were killed. Tuesday’s strike came after a surge of unrest in the occupied West Bank, that has raised fears in Israel of a new Palestinian Intifada (uprising). On Monday, thousands of Palestinians in the West Bank turned out for the funeral of Arafat Jaradat, 30, who died in disputed circumstances in an Israeli prison on Saturday. Israeli police shot and wounded five Palestinian youths during confrontations in Bethlehem and outside a West Bank prison later the same day, leaving a 15-year-old boy in critical condition, Israeli and Palestinian medical sources said. An Israeli military spokeswoman, commenting on the incident, said troops had opened fire at Palestinians who threw homemade hand grenades at a Jewish holy site called Rachel’s Tomb, in the Bethlehem area. Before the rocket attack from Gaza, media reports said Israeli officials had hoped the Palestinian protests were winding down a week after they were launched in sympathy with four prisoners on intermittent hunger strikes. The U.S. State Department said American diplomats have contacted Israeli and Palestinian leaders to appeal for calm. The United Nations coordinator for the Middle East peace process, Robert Serry, called for an investigation of Jaradat’s death. Jaradat had been arrested a week ago for throwing stones at Israeli cars in the West Bank. Palestinian officials said he had died after being tortured in prison. But Israel said an autopsy carried out in the presence of a Palestinian coroner was inconclusive. Palestinian frustration has also been fuelled by Israel’s expansion of Jewish settlements in territory captured in a 1967 war and deadlocked diplomacy for a peace agreement since 2010. –Reuters

And all of this before Presidents Obama’s trip. I had read that indeed a third Intifada was in the developing process. Again, as has been blogged and commented on many times, I believe we are on the verge of a major conflict in The Middle East that will bring on a peace agreement by deploying peace-keeping troops in the region and both parties accepting that condition.
I believe that The World sees a weakening America and will seize the opportunity to fill the void.
This will cost us and many other countries many lives. Most people do not know that vast amounts of oil and gas has been discovered off the coast of Israel and is currently being processed and would exceed what the Arabs and Iran has. In the near future Israel could cut the ties with the USA and be able to dictate its own terms because it will become a ecomonic powerhouse from its oil and gas exports. But, right now, it seems that trouble again is stirring and all of of this is no doubt to disrupt
The Presidents visit and he really should stay home.

Back when I first heard about the oil discovery in Israel, I had to think about Ezekiel 38:13 – Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all her villages will say to you, “Have you come to plunder? Have you gathered your hordes to loot, to carry off silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods and to seize much plunder?” The oil will definitely be something that other will want for their own.

And I also find it interesting that this is happening just as President Obama is planning a visit to Israel. Makes me wonder who’s side he will take. (I won’t presume to know anyone’s inner thoughts here although I do have my own opinion.)

What many fail to understand, or have been blinded and deceived to, is that the Palestinians, especially those in the government, don’t want peace. They want to annihilate Israel and they want the land for their own. Past “land for peace” treaties have not worked, otherwise we would already have peace.

1 Thessalonians 5:3 – While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

Alvin. Devout, Apocalyptic Roman Catholics are watching very closely the movements of Pope Benedict. Once he leaves Rome we anticipate a world-wide spiritual experience for all humanity given to us by God. His last effort to reach His people. After that, the Trumpets of destructions will blast and the Great Tribulation will begin. A war in the Middle East is one of the first events to take place. God’s mercy on all mankind.
