Catastrophes from the past will strike again — we just do not know when

Vol 2
January 9, 2013 EARTHOne hundred thousand years ago, a massive chunk of the Mauna Loa volcano cracked away from Hawaii and slid into the sea, launching a wave that rose as high as the Eiffel tower up the slopes of a nearby island. That mega-tsunami was not an isolated incident: the past 40,000 years have seen at least ten gigantic landslides of more than 100 cubic kilometers in the North Atlantic ocean alone, each capable of producing waves tens to hundreds of meters high. Another is bound to happen sometime — although whether it will strike tomorrow or 10,000 years from now is anyone’s guess. Earth is now in the middle of a flare-up of supervolcanic activity. Over the past 13.5 million years, no fewer than 19 giant eruptions have each spewed more than 1,000 cubic kilometers of rock — enough to coat an entire continent in a few centimeters of ash and push the planet into ‘nuclear winter’. One of the most recent such eruptions, of Toba in Indonesia 74,000 years ago, was such a catastrophic event that some scientists have blamed it for starting the last ice age and slashing the human population to about 10,000 people. One estimate1 suggests that there is a 1% chance of a super-eruption in the next 460–7,200 years.
Andromeda Strain: Although viruses and bacteria grab more attention, fungi are the planet’s biggest killers. Of all the pathogens being tracked, fungi have caused more than 70% of the recorded global and regional extinctions, and now threaten amphibians, bats and bees. The Irish potato famine in the 1840s showed just how devastating such pathogens can be. Phytophthora infestans (an organism similar to, and often grouped with, fungi) wiped out as much as three-quarters of the potato crop in Ireland and led to the death of one million people. Potato blight is still a threat: 13_A2, a highly aggressive strain of P. infestans, is now rampant in Europe and North Africa. Across the globe, Phytophthora causes some US$ 6.7 billion in annual damages, according to a 2009 estimate4. Sarah Gurr, a plant pathologist at the University of Oxford, UK, estimates that the worst theoretical potato infestation would deprive 1.3 billion people of food each year. Other major staple crops face similar threats, such as rice blast (Magnaporthe oryzae), corn smut (Ustilago maydis), soya bean rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi) and wheat stem rust (Puccinia graminis). The stem-rust superstrain Ug99 has in recent years slashed yields in parts of Africa by as much as 80%. If all five crop staples were hit with fungal outbreaks at the same time, more than 60% of the world’s population could go hungry, says Gurr. “That’s apocalyptic”, but unlikely, she says — “more of a James Bond movie”. David Hughes, a zoologist at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, adds that terrorists could use fungi to wreak havoc by targeting economically important crops. In the 1980s, for example, a possibly deliberate infection wiped out cacao crops in northern Brazil, changing the country’s demographics and ecology as people moved from unproductive farms to the cities and cleared more rainforest. “If you wanted to destabilize the world, you could easily introduce rubber blight into Southeast Asia,” he says, which would trigger a chain reaction of economic and political effects. Modern agriculture has exacerbated societies’ vulnerability by encouraging farmers to plant the same strains of high-yield crops, limiting the variety of resistance genes among the plants, says Gurr. “We’ve skewed the arms race in favour of the pathogen,” she says. “That’s why we’re on the brink of disaster.” Researchers estimate that there are 1.5 million to 5 million species of fungi in the world, but only 100,000 have been identified. Reports of new types of fungal infection in plants and animals have risen nearly tenfold since 1995 (ref. 3). Gurr suggests that climate change might be a culprit. Humans have cause for concern as well. In the past decade, a tropical fungus called Cryptococcus gattii has adapted to thrive in cooler climes and invaded the forests of North America’s Pacific Northwest. By 2010, it had infected some 280 people, dozens of whom died. Although fungi are not spread as easily from person to person as viruses, for example, and anti-fungal agents can effectively tackle most infections, there are still reasons to worry. Fungi continue to evolve, and once they are established in an ecosystem, they can be almost impossible to wipe out. Given these trends, experts say that fungi have not received enough attention from researchers and governments. “I’d be very surprised if an abrupt fungal infection killed a large swathe of people. But it’s not impossible,” says Matthew Fisher, an emerging-disease researcher at Imperial College London. “Complacency is not a recommended course of action.” –Nature

I have read a few articles that state that bacteris, virius, and fungus thrive in a body that is in an acidic state. On the other hand they can not survive in a body that is in an alkaline state. The best way to get alkaline is a teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in a cup of warm water. Check Natural News for the article. Also check You Tube for baking soda cure. This has been known for over 100 years and is also effective to prevent the flu. But I’m sure the pharma criminals don’t want anyone to know about this. So spread the word. God Bless

I believe you have that backwards. You want a higher PH for colds and flu .I have used apple cider vinegar every time i feel something comming on and it has always worked.I recommend everyone take a look at Earth Clinic .It has been a wealth of info for me i hope it will for others here on TEP.

Higher pH would be alkaline, not acidic. Ph ranges from 1 – 14. Solutions that ranges from 1 – 6 are considered acidic, and solutions ranging from 8 – 14 are considered alkaline. 7 is neutral.
That said, I have heard of both, the baking soda and the vinegar….baking soda may dissociate in solution and tend to neutralize an acid. Vinegar would accomplish the opposite..

With all the earth movements (quakes and volcanic activity), I can’t help but wonder if these ‘rattles’ will or have somewhat destabilized portions of the earth’s crust, shelfs and so on.
Let’s hope, of course, that a nasty scenario of a major ‘slip’ doesn’t occur and cause a catastrophic event….but we may not become aware of the potential of, for example, perhaps a ‘hidden’ threat like this until one, unfortunately, occurs.

The Sun, along with its system, revolves around its binary in about 24,000 years of our earth. It also revolves around the grand centre called in Hindu scriptures as Vishnunabhi or the Navel of Lord Vishnu, which coincidentally happens to be the centre of the galaxy where the Black Hole exists. During this revolution , the sun goes towards the centre (Ascending) taking 12,000 years to do so and then moves away from the centre (Descending), taking another 12,000 years of earth to reach the farther point from the centre. When it is moving towards the centre, there is mental development. When it is moving away from the centre, then there is intellectual decline. Many other ancient cultures, like the Greeks, the Zoroastrians, also believed in the 12,000 year cycle.

Sri Yukteshwar, a 19th century Hindu monk, wrote on this: “Each of these periods of 12,000 years brings complete change, both externally in the material world, and internally in the intellectual or electric world, and is called one of the Divine Yugas or Electric Couple.”

This 24,000 year of Ascending and Descending cycle approximates the 25,765 Precessional Years when the sun moves backwards in the 12 zodiacal constellations. An ancient book of astronomy “Surya Siddhanta” specifies the value of 54 arc second per year for precession and not 50 arc second, which when calculated comes to 24,000 years.

Rather than following complicated calculations which crept into these yugas later on, it is best to follow the original Saptrishi Calendar or the calendar based on the Great Bear Constellation which was followed in ancient India. According to this calendar the Great Bear stayed in one constellation for 100 years, thus adding up to 2,700 years for 27 constellations. However, 12,000 years were equally divided into four Yugas or Ages with each yuga getting 3,000 years: Satya Yuga (Golden Age), Treta Yuga (Silver Age), Dwapar Yuga (Bronze Age) and Kali Yuga (Iron Age), with the Transition or Mutation period of 300 years each.

It has been established by several scholars through the historical accounts in Mahabharata and visits of the Greeks and other European and Middle East travelers etc to India, that the Saptrishi Calendar started in 6676 BCE. Moreover, since Mahabharata describes events happening in Dwapara Yuga, it has been established by scholars that 6676 BCE marks the beginning of Descending Dwapara Yuga. According to this calculation, we are in the Ascending Kali Yuga (676 BCE to 2025 CE). Now, the Transitional Period of 300 years starts from 2025 CE and ends in 2325 CE before the next yuga starts.

What is important here is the Transitional Period. Calculations indicate that in the past Transitional Periods, Sri Yukteshwar’s “complete change” indeed took place. Consider Transitional or Mutation Period preceeding Ascending Kali Yuga, 300 years back from 676 BCE – Troy was destroyed, the great Mycenaean cities collapsed, “Third Intermediate Period” of Egypt happened, Indus Valley Civilisation suddenly ended, and Hekla volcano eruption.
Go back 3,000 years and we reach the Mutation Period of 3976 BCE-3676 BCE – referred to in geology as 5.9 kilo year event, i.e. intense aridification; Sahara desert; Jewish Calendar says world began in 3761 BC, severe floodings in Asia or the Flandrian transgression.

The Transitional Period before the above is 6976 BCE – 6676 BCE – geologists say the Black Sea Catastrophe happened during this time when Mediterranean Sea swelled with melting ice and flooded great parts of Europe; gigantic earthquakes in Europe including “rock tsumanis” in Sweden.

During the earlier Transitional Period of 9976 BCE – 9676 BCE – Ice Age ended; Global Flooding in 9600 BCE and all the extinctions that followed.

Now, for earth changes to take place and for extinctions or otherwise to happen, it may take a jiffy or even hundreds of years. There are no hard and fast rules in Nature but yet there are cycles. As the next Transitional Period of 300 years starting 2025 CE is approaching, there are indications that the changes might already be underway. According to Mayan Long Calendar calculations, this “Great Cycle” ended in 2012 for a new one to begin. This date of 2012 assumes importance since in this year, we began to see and record earth changes – increased volcanic eruptions, sink holes, increased earthquakes, increased floodings, increased cracking of the earth because of earth swelling – all this triggered by the increased activity of the Sun.

If the above cyclic changes are correct, then these activities are expected to increase and reach their peak in 2025 CE, i.e. 12 years from now during the Transitional Period. Bless.

That was an interesting comment.”Earth is now in the middle of a flareup of Super Volcano Activity”.
This one made me giggle” Catastrophes from the past will strike again-we just don’t know when. That is a true statement and no need to live in fear and worry, just be aware and prepared.

Speaking about the past, yesterday, the history channels lineup of programs focused on alleged past visitations/contact from ET’s, time travel, precision structural design and building, the movement of multi-ton rocks without the availability of heavy machinary…ET aerial combat to include the possible use of nuclear weapons……We’ve all seem them.
But, the most interesting comment made by one of the contributors was that “during the period of climate change”, there seemed to be more ET reports/sightings and personal contact with earth’s population according to recovered tablets and text.
    Aren’t we in a climate change cycle?……………..

Dennis, have you ever thought about time travel? Present-day technologh is nearing and nearing this possibility. They are currently playing with lasers to find the velocity needed to achive it.
If they do, (achive it) then maybe the UFO activity we are seeing… is us.

Stepping out on a limb here. I don’t think God will/would allow time travel to be controlled by man.
        I disagree that ufo’s are us……….
        Ufo’s, I believe are a deception.
The central thesis often focused on is we are seeds planted by the “gods” when they could very well be fallen angels seeking to take mans attention and worship from the one true God.

Cholera fear in Cuba as officials keep silent

“All our wards are dealing with this issue – they are almost full,” an IPK employee told the BBC by telephone, before saying she was not authorised to comment further.

“We can’t sell anything that’s not in sealed bottles until further notice and all food sales have been suspended,” explains Tony, at the Cerro Moderno cafe, a short walk from the home of Yudermis. Its fridge is now empty and the grills cold.
