Powerful 7.5 magnitude earthquake strikes southeastern Alaska

January 5, 2013JUNEAU, AlaskaA powerful earthquake sparked a tsunami warning for hundreds of miles of Alaskan and Canadian coastline, but the alert was canceled when no damaging waves were generated. The magnitude 7.5 quake did generate a tsunami, but the Alaska Tsunami Warning Center said the waves didn’t pose a threat. The temblor struck at midnight Friday (1 a.m. PST Saturday) and was centered about 60 miles west of Craig, Alaska, the U.S. Geological Survey said. Originally, it was thought two 7.7 magnitude quakes had struck southern Alaska back to back but the USGS revised the information on its website. The tsunami followed minutes later and was eventually expanded to include coastal areas from Cape Fairweather, Alaska, to the northern tip of Vancouver Island, Canada — an area extending more than 700 miles. A center had warned that “significant widespread inundation of land is expected,” adding that dangerous coastal flooding was possible. In its cancellation statement, the center said that some areas were seeing just small sea level changes. “A tsunami was generated during this event but no longer poses a threat,” the center said. After one community reported seeing just a small wave, the police in the coastal town of Cordova said they had no reports of any problems. The Alaska Earthquake Information Center said the quake was widely felt but it received no reports of any damage. In addition to the warning, a tsunami advisory was briefly in effect for some Alaska coastal areas to the north of the warning zone, as well as to the south of the zone, from the Washington state border to the northern tip of Vancouver Island. A tsunami warning means an area is likely to be hit by a wave, while an advisory means there may be strong currents, but that widespread inundation is not expected to occur. –LA Times, TEP

There seems to be an increasing number of quakes of varying strengths in this Alaska area any connection with the pole shift?

This raises concerns about how much preasure this quake has place on the Cascadia Subdujction Zone. Seeing how this region has been seeing a slow but stead increase in earthquakes over the past six months at both the northern and southern tip of Cascadia and now we have a subsequent 7.5, we could be in for something much more alarming. Be safe everyone.

I have been watching this area for the last year I am as concerned as you are. Yet nobody seems to be heeding these warning signs, other than a select few. who are relocating to the higher mountain communities. I hope nothing comes but as time moves on it Seem more and more likely were in for something big.
      God Bless, From Canada.

Nutty enough I recently (pre Queen Charlotte) tripped over a kids plastic horse scooter in the back yard. The cut on my leg was in the Shape of this tectonic area which noted is right next to Whitehorse (LOL). Yesterday the part of the scar that is significant to this area was itching. Curious about the future activity in this area. I have had several dreams about this area … in the most recent a person takes off to the south with a blanket that my daughter who lives in Southern Oregon had bought me for Christmas. I have also had a dream that my Ex drove us into a drainage ditch at the base of a plateau where a football game was being played. I didn’t think it was going to be that bad but green water was pouring in through a north window at him. The angles in the dream are important but I haven’t been able to pin them to an exact place. My ex lives in Portland. I also have a scar on my left hand in the shape of the Carribean plate.

I’m actually more interested in the cause and what did happen than what did not happen!

An hour before this earthquake the sun released its first M class flare in weeks. Probably totally unrelated.

I had been thinking about how quiet USGS has been. I mean, I know there have been quakes, but no major ones, but then I saw this one. I wonder what event this will lead to.

I am wondering if there could be a connection with the dumping of iron in this region, the m class flare, and our weakening shield?

No wave damage? Perhaps some of God’s people in SE Alaska, BC and WA. have been praying for God to heal and protect their land, such as this bible verse promises.
“If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and heal their land.” (2nd Chronicles 7:14.)
All Christians need to repent and implore the Lord Jesus for His mercy, healing and protection over their communities.
