About the raccoons–reminds me of the “Pom Poko” (1994) [ Heisei tanuki gassen ponpoko (original title)] animated movie by Studio Ghibli about “a community of magical shapeshifting raccoons desperately struggle to prevent their forest home from being destroyed by urban development” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110008/).

Raccoon have invaded our neighborhood for the past couple of years. This year I came face to face with one as I went to put food out for the cat. He hissed at me. Fortunately, I had my cane with me and whacked him on the head a couple of times. He took off and never came back. Note to raccoon: don’t mess with the old lady with the cane.

Revelation 6:8 – And I looked, and behold a pale horse; and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Helping the coyotes is their monogamy….hmmm..interesting…Perhaps by being in our urban areas etc. they can teach us a few things regarding the raising of families!

FYI – Raccoons hate the smell of moth balls – if you put them around (under porch, etc) it will help to keep them from nesting. I live on a green belt and they are coming to my home every night for the grapes. They eat and leave. The dog food container has been pushed around but they know they can’t break in, so are now leaving it alone. They come out of the sewer and they are BIG. Also, the coyotes have moved in – they are all along the greenbelt. But, for the record, we have all the wildlife, coming down from the foothills. As a side note: Please, everyone, please say a prayer for the missing girl from Westminster, CO. She is in our school district and lives just a few miles from our home. We have had a possible abductor (trying to grab kids) in our neighborhood for a long time now, and the fear is he finally got a child. Please, a quick prayer, for her and her family. Thank you, all. You all are good folks on this site. And thank you, Alvin.

Brava! & Hear, Hear! to Ladies with Canes!
My stepmother lives in Key Largo, FL- where nasty raccoons have largely been replaced by nasty 6′ iguanas. Hissing, too-close lizards are efficiently guillotined with her shovel. Especially if they have been ravaging the tomatoes. Admiration and regards to you both!

Yesterday, while exploring a magnificent glacial sand deposit here in southernmost Indiana, we noticed many common prey/predator tracks: coyote, deer, raptor, raccoon, & etcetera. But we found some new ones, which, after much research and comparison, we are 95% certain belong to a Gray Wolf and cub/s! The largest was more than 4″L x 3.5″W- too big for a coyote, and the stride pattern was 32″ long, in a straight line, hind foot overlapping front. Dog tracks do not over lap and tend to meander. Took a photo next to my (Ladies,10W) foot for scale. Wolf or no, they were very fresh and made by one enormous canine. We were both relieved and disappointed not to cross paths with it. Next time we are carrying self-defense rocks, just in case.

I was raised on the Eastside of Detroit. I lived in other cities, but there is no other city like Detroit. Yes the crime rate is high, but there are a lot of good in the city. The citizens of Detroit are battling crime from the streets and crime in our local government. Currently it feels like nobody cares, especially when I know citizens of Detroit will come together and unite to protect our streets. But with all the corruption our voice have been blocked. Now, Dave Bing, Mayor, restricted city services to certain parts of the city, including no street lights. I know DETROIT shall rise and show THE WORLD that GOODNESS will always have VICTORY. We are not going to be left in DARKNESS much longer.

I feel Big city life r in for some trouble ahead. In case of emergency cities gonna be a hellhole. Disrupted foodchain for only some weeks would make the residents go crazy and animals taking over
I rather live on the countryside pretty much in harmony with nature, selfsustainable to 85% etc.
However, with new technology and a more ecological living i feel cities will flourish even in a distant future. Living close together in cities r good in many ways

Rev 6:8, bacterias, virus etc is a part of “wild beasts” and they can be a real killer
