September 7, 2012– MIAMI — Hurricane Michael has strengthened to a Category 3 storm, the first one of the Atlantic hurricane season. The hurricane is not an immediate threat to land. Michael’s maximum speed sustained winds increased to 115 mph early Thursday. Michael is centered about 1,020 miles west-southwest of the Azores and is moving northeast near 7 mph. Meanwhile, Hurricane Leslie is drifting northward in the Atlantic and threatens Bermuda. Leslie’s maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph. Leslie is centered about 440 miles south-southeast of Bermuda and is moving north near 1 mph. Swells from Leslie have been affecting the U.S. East Coast, as well as Bermuda, the northern Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Watch out the UK as well if these combined systems veer NE along the Gulf Stream, as they often have in the past. Keep on the watch.

The Gulf Stream Current has been STOPPED since 6/12/10. Look at any Ocean Temperature map. Solarimg.org is a good site. Noone ever seems to want to talk about that one. The Corexit 9500 alledgedly & the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico are the culprits. Some also alledge that the spill is still ongoing but the Corexit 9500 alond with Anti-Freeze keep it al levels below 1000 feet. New Oil Spill tarballs are washing up on Gulf Beaches once again after ISAAC stirred things up. Here is a good video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvdjzWTf6gM&feature=my_liked_videos&list=LLfYBiyWzEDSx80CyE6fXEYg

Hurricane Leslie has now been downgraded to a tropical storm, but still need to keep an eye on it. The brunt of the storm should miss Bermuda, but the wave action might cause erosion.
