16 Responses to Iran war could cost Israel economy $42 billion

What price would be ascribed to a first strike nuclear attack against Israel? The strand of hair holding the Sword of Damocles is fraying by the passing of each day. Economics are a good reason not to go to war but survival always out trumps economics.
    Duck and cover.

Dennis B: It is a very, very thin hair indeed. For those that vehemently oppose any military action by Israel, who face an eneny that is feverishly racing to develop weapons to wipe them off the map, and “soon”, I say that it is very easy to hold that position when it is not they that face such an inevitable threat. Since diplomacy and sanctions aren’t working, burying your head in the sand and hoping for eutopia to miraculously appear is unrealistic – to say that Israel and the US should do nothing is a sure fire way of facilitating yet another genocidal event – only this time, it will come about in a matter of days, rather than years, as was the case in the ’40s. If the shoe were on the other foot (say a hostile Mexico doing the same thing as Iran), I’m certain people would have a totally different opinion. War is not a pretty thing, but sometimes it is not avoidable, especially when your very existance is being threatened.

Great article, but is Israel really the only atomic power in the middle east? I thought India & Pakistan had that capability as well?

Were Israel to attack Iran, the likeliest dates would be September 16th or October 15th. On these new moon evenings, there is no natural light thereby assisting the military in aircraft and troop cover. After October, the U.S. elections will be over and whoever wins the White House, the pressure to act immediately by Israel will be significantly lessened. Their desire to capitalize on US sentiment prior to the election, and their fear of an Obama second term (who has not been favorable to their policies) makes sense when trying to rally support for an invasion. They realize that once that line is crossed, there will only be those who support and those who condemn the move. Naturally all is done to bolster support for an invasion.

I think the possibility of an invasion on either of these dates is extremely high. Sadly, if true, it would be terrible for humanity not only in terms of the pure economic impact because of exorbitant oil prices but also because, I believe, the initial use of weapons to actually destroy the Iranian deeply-buried facilities may require limited nuclear ones. The results would be horrible for the people living in the region not to mention the ecological impact.

Your analysis is exactly correct, including the timing. My guess would be the September date. The U.S. is going to be holding a major naval exercise in the Straits of Hormuz beginning on the 16th of September. It is scheduled to last about 2 weeks. It would be very easy for the US to be, either unintentioanlly or intentionally, drawn into a conflict with Iran. I’m not sure that all the messages were reading in the press (pro and con) are not intentional disinformation. The sucess of such an attack is going to be based largely upon surprise. I think the US and Israel decided back at the begining of the year (provisionally) to attack Iran. The reason i say this is going to sound a little crazy, but i think it’s atlest partly true. I think Obama, purely for selfish politacal reasons, decided to go along with attack plans out of concern for his re election. Hilary Clinton’s now defunct presidential campaign popped its head up out of the fox hole back in December. For 2 years now, a bunch of very powerful Hilary supporters(Obama Haters) were urging her to run against him. Her battle cry for jumping ship would have been his weakness on Iran. Coincidentally, her old campaign hasn’t been heard from since. This might all be coincidental(conjecture), but i won’t be surprised a bit if somewhere between the 14th and the 18th of September bombs aren’t raining down on Iran. Those bombs will be Israeli and American.

Unrelated but interesting. We protested against this expansion a few weeks ago & now the project has been scrapped. I doubt our protests had any bearing on this corporate decision but good news for Mother earth!!!

It is possible that results from an Iranian strike would not only heavily damage their economy but would weak havoc on their military strength and then, and then another attack to finish them.
This is getting more dangerous day by day……….
It will happen when all the parts are in place. When the Arabs believe they can win with Russian and Chinese support and others.

The question that remains to be answered is this. Will the USA be neutralized before hand?
    Just a thought…………….
