62: Ivan Groznyy volcano erupts in Kuril Islands

August 16, 2012 KURIL ISLANDS The Ivan Groznyy (“Ivan the Terrible”) volcano erupted early on Thursday morning on the island of Iturup, part of the Kuril group in Russia’s Far East. The volcano spewed a column of ash onto the surrounding area. Local people in the nearest towns, Goryachiye Klyuchi (9 kilometers away) and the city of Kurilsk (25 kilometers), noticed a faint smell of hydrogen sulfide gas, which disappeared later. The eruption poses no threat to nearby human settlements. Scientists recorded signs of the impending eruption on Wednesday, when gas emissions on the volcano’s northeast slope increased, a Sakhalin region Emergency Ministry representative told RIA Novosti.     How many volcanoes have to erupt before we see effects such as cooling of the atmosphere? Wasn’t it just one volcano that erupted that gave the world a mini ice age back in the seventeen hundreds?

      Yes. The Laki eruptions in 1783-1784 (Iceland), and the Tambora eruption of 1815 (Indonesia), both caused significant cooling across the globe. Laki plunged northern Europe into the coldest winters the region had seen in two centuries. It only takes one long-sustained eruption from a VEI 6 stage event, which up to now —- we haven’t seen yet. The last major volcanic eruption we had was probably Mt. Pinatubo in 1991, which was a VEI 6 event. Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcanic eruption in 2010 was only a VEI 4, in comparison. However, look at the chaos it caused to air traffic across the northern hemisphere. Indonesia, Japan, Iceland, or Alaska could be the place of the next monsterous eruption. So in many ways, to answer your question, this game hasn’t even started yet.

      There are seven plates. These are the seven seals. Volcanoes will always be preceded by earthquakes, and extreme weather will always precede earthquakes. Friction in the earth is spiritual friction between people. Heavy friction leads to shock. The release of much friction allows much repressed feeling to be released. As the world moves into the final and intense stage of tribulation and revealing of all since the dawn of man, people will be shocked and awed, and the earth will reflect it. The seven seals will open up in line with the one who can open the scroll, or the sky, with which all the truth exists. The angels or volcanoes have been waiting to blow their trumpets at the right time.

  3. It’s interesting to me that this volcano erupted within days of a magnitude 7.7 earthquake just east of there. There is at least one other volcano that I know of that has a proven trigger of a strong earthquake in the general area and that is Vesuvius in Italy (by the by, two strong quakes in that area in the last few years has the seismologists keeping a VERY close eye on Vesuvius); it seems that Ivan Groznyy has a hair-trigger! It makes me keep one eye on the Cascadia Subduction Zone and one eye on the volcanic peaks of the cascades Mountains.

    Tofua vulcano was the 62nd volcano to erupt… Ivan Groznyy was the 63rd. Just saying 😉
