Fire near Temecula, Ca scorches up to 100 acres

August 1, 2012 TEMECULA, CA. – Riverside County Fire Department officials have reported that the fire has scorched 100 acres in the city of La Cresta and is now being managed along with United States Forest Service (Cleveland). Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire Department first responders are on the scene of a vegetation fire burning at Tenaja Road and Via Volcano in De Luz, it was reported today. As of noon, the blaze had consumed 15 acres at a moderate rate of spread, according to a Riverside County Fire Department report. No injuries or evacuations have been reported at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation. –SWRNN

    I was just going to tell you about this. (I think it’s the same one, at least.) The Weather Channel says there are now more than 200 acres burning at Murrieta CA. Less than 5% contained.

    Also, we now have a tropical depression form in the Atlantic 810 miles east of the Windward Islands. Max wind is 35 mph. If named,it will be Ernesto.

    Well, this is in my neck of the woods. I saw billows of clouds earlier today. As I left my school today, I noted there was still some burning but smoke has diminished. This is a very windy area, so if the winds pick up this evening we may have some issues–burning embers down into the old Murrieta town area. Will keep posted of any big news.

    More info…Volcano fire at 400 acres, 10% contained….La Cresta/De Luz area–no evacuations.
