Seismic risk high for Indian-Australian plate, which is now under major stress – 6.0 strikes off the coast of Mexico

The Indian-Australian tectontic plate has been rocked by  a strong series of 6.0 magnitude earthquakes over the last four days. Seismic tension and risk remains high for this region of the Ring of Fire.
July 29, 2012MEXICO A 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Mexico’s Pacific coast close to the Guatemalan border on Sunday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The quake occurred at 6:22 am (1222 GMT) at a depth of 35 kilometers (21 miles), and was located 28 kilometers (17 miles) south-southwest of Suchiate, Mexico, the US Geological Survey said. “The quake was felt across most of the Soconusco region,” civil protection official Luis Manuel Garcia told AFP. “We have no reports of damage for the moment.” The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue a report on the quake. A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake rocked southwest Mexico on March 20, killing two people, injuring 13 others and damaging thousands of homes. That earthquake — with its epicenter south of the Pacific resort of Acapulco — was the most powerful to hit the country since one in 1985, which destroyed entire neighborhoods of the capital and killed thousands of people. –Reuters

Huh, is it just I just taking a more keen notice to the amount of 5.0+ earthquakes we have a year or have there genuinely been a significant increase? Mr. Alvin has posted the facts on the # of volcanic eruptions this year thus far to last year & there is a lot more this year already compared to last year

Alvin there was an earthquake in Bosnia and Hercegovina few days ago, measuring 4.7

How far is this going to extend? Any chance that we will feel anything in Danmark, Sweeden?

    • Not now; later, yes. I saw that and tectonic plates are right now undergoing major movements and adjustments due to the interior heat of the planet. I think before it’s over, the entire planet will be reeling and in some places the seismic spasms will never stop.

    FYI

July 28, 2012 at 20:56 UTC – AR 1532 unleashed M6.1 solar flare. The solar flare did genarate Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) it does not look Earth directed. The sunspot is still too far off the disk center to be very geoeffective. This will change in the following days as the Region 1532 turns toward Earth.

Associated with the event was a Tenflare (370 sfu), a Type II radio sweep with an estimated speed of 1387 km/s, and a Type IV radio sweep. Further analysis will be conducted
    as more data becomes available.

    More info available…
INCOMING CME, WEAK IMPACT EXPECTED: A coronal mass ejection (CME) produced by Saturday’s M6-class flare is heading toward Earth. According to analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab, the cloud could deliver a glancing blow to our planet’s magnetic field on July 31st around 1500 UT (+/- 7 hours).

This same sunspot has been firing off M Class Flares every day since friday.

1 year ago a member of the USGS gave insight to the Pacific plate in reference to the Ring of Fire especially in the region of the Philippines. The Leyte Gulf region in particular Emden Deep. Long story short is that a large tsunami with the associated seaquake is due. Silago Southern Leyte is thought to be ground zero for any such event. A quick check on Google Earth with the USGS app, you will note small quake swarms now appearing in the off shore areas. I was there and witnessed first hand the quake preparedness taking place throughout the region. Something is up there but I’m scheduled to return to the area November 2012.

Dose. This have anything to do with the power going off the last few days?
