8 Responses to Staring into the abyss: Spanish unemployment hits record highs

  1. If the current economic problems throughout the Mediterranean region of the EU aren’t a sign of the times, I don’t know what is. In all of my fifty-odd years I can’t recall ever having to hear of entire nations needing to be bailed out financially. I believe that it is a strong indicator that most of the world has been chasing after the illusion of unlimited economic growth for far too long and now we are literally paying the price (and yes, I include the US in this sick obsession of accumulating more and more wealth). Look at creation and you will see that every time a species grows to an unsustainable size, something comes along and knocks it back to a considerably more modest population, and it’s about to happen to humanity. As Stephen King once wrote in The Stand, “if ever a species was ripe for thinning, it is us”. It stinks, but the truth sometimes does.

Hot,Hot summer, many young people unemployed and unable to pay their bills, have money and establish a career leads to fighting in the streets(some older ones too). We can say this and that, but I believe that on this point, I am not too far off but the”kick the debt can down the street” so later generations will have to pay has arrived.

    Just my opinion……..

We will continue to see it rise and more stuff like the rising of the dark night more and more often. When people lose their wealth they tend to go crazy.

It’s probably going to get much worse in the near future. Not just for Spain. We can’t live way beyond our means anymore.

    Alvin,
Just one more sign that this world is being taken over by EVIL…. http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2012/07/25/hotel-replaces-bible-with-50-shades-grey-420750936/

    • I think the world has unpreceptively crossed over lines of morality that few hardly pay attention to anymore. People are relatively unconcerned about what happening, as long as they are not affected, or their livlihoods isn’t threatened. The Penn State scandal is a classic example of how ‘winning and sports’ supercedes even the welfare of children. This planet is becoming a stench in the nostrils of a holy God. Woe is the day, judgment comes without mercy. The anguish will be unbearable.

        Dear Alvin,
I feel that many of man’s ‘sins’ are being punished as we ‘speak’. Excess in one ‘area’ leads to the decline in/of another – a sort of natural justice.
I am an observer of nature and human nature – nature is somewhat beyond our control – but human nature or the nature of ‘man” (in general) is getting beyond ‘his/her’ own self conrol at the moment. Greed and selfishness fuels the dissent of the lesser fortunate; as hope wanes, desperation emerges and the disintegration of humanity becomes a wave, having grown from a ripple.
Best wishes to you and all EP followers 😉
