July 12, 2012 – CLIMATE — Arata Yamamoto of NBC News reports — An unprecedented 20 inches of rain descended on the town of Aso in southwestern Japan, inundating homes and rice paddies and killing at least 22 people. 1 people are still reportedly missing. Images on local news reports showed cars being dragged into the raging rivers and houses destroyed by landslides. But by around noon time the rain had stopped, allowing for the clean up efforts to kick in. The local fire department in Aso District said they had managed to rescue 8 people trapped in mudslides. –MSNBC IAN

    One must think that God has had enough. There are just too many signs brothers & sisters. Financial collapse, war, famines, droughts, moral breakdown, volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, fish kills. Where does it all end? Get ready people, its time to have a look at our souls and get real.

      I agree Truth. God has given the world many chances and we have not listen. The lord has given us the signs of end times and this is our last chance to repent and be saved. I myself am guilty of not listening to God. I have not done anything extremely bad or unforgiving, but I have not lived by His complete word. I would never had said this 5 years ago. It has only been in the last 2 years that I started to notice the signs. I regret to say, we should have listened a long time ago.

    Look how cleverly these people laid their foundations, planted their gardens and built their homes. Excellent planning. There is a lot to be learned from these pictures.

    Looks like there had been some logging higher up. About 1,000 years ago when I was a teen living in the rain forest near the Siuslaw River in Oregon, there was a log slide that pushed most of the town into the river. Many many logs and much mud. Before the clean up was completed, a couple of years later, the huge log debris piles became infested with black Norway rats. The timber companies decided on less destructive forestry practices, under U.S. Forest Service guidance. This was before strip logging with a narrow visual corridor left along highways. Dunno what they do now. It’s been a long time since I was there. Looking at Google Earth, there is not so much forest left to make a log slide. Is that good or bad?

      Any deforestation of Rain Forest is a bad thing. Not only does it destabalize hillsides but it affects Earth’s climate as well.

    Many had a much worse experience than this photo illustrates. I am sorry. I did not mean to make light of people’s sorrow and misery.

    I do admire the locations relative to the hillside, and the (apparently) basement style, semi earth sheltered foundations. The retaining walls, protected gardens et.al. shows that these particular families understood some of the possible hazards of their venue.

    Though it is not always possible for everyone to be prepared, it is heartening to see how danger and damage can be lessened by paying attention. I thank all of you, and of course Alvin, the people keeping the Fukushima Diary updated, and all persons trying to make it actually possible to pay attention, and to have some inkling of what it is that we all should be aware of.

    There is not much time left. The sky’s are getting ready to shut up for the tribulation and when rain is allowed to come down it will be like this. A destructive force, an act of God, calling a wicked world to repent.

    I guess a question that must be asked, in regards, to the number of events that we are witness to here today, is…Is it really more than what would normally happen on a global scale? Has the unprecedented amount of information which is now available to all of us at a moments notice simply exposed us to a world unknown to us even a decade ago?
