11 Responses to Will Pakistan and India’s growing arms race and nuclear brinkmanship spiral into a catastrophe?

    I am going to take the road of the optimist and say that, I do not believe an exchange of nuclear weapons between these two countries is plausible. Both realize that millions will die, and would leave their countries in economic & political turmoil which would take a very long time to recover.

      I disagree in that there are few cool heads on the paki side and those are not the ones who call the shots. these peoples have been at war time immortal. it is only a matter of time until one side or the other is feels provoked enough to act. now, it could be another two to five years but I have no doubt it will happen UNLESS, they unite as part of a wider coalition that inevitably rises up against Israel. just mho.

    Sam, that’s giving them a whole lot of benefit of the doubt. If you want to see how deep the ancient cracks run between these two nations, go see this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZ0ue-XGl9c
    A typical, daily border closing between Pakistan and India. Do you see what I see? Serious nationalistic fervor. Bordering on rabid.

    @Sam Beckett, there are forces of Darkness at work here on this world. If they are starting to lose power over the masses, their last choice is to annihilate humanity altogether. We need Divine intervention, and we also need to become spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically strong during these times.

      A Defense Intelligence Agency report in May 2002 estimated that a nuclear war between India and Pakistan could, in a worst-case scenario, lead to 8–12 million deaths initially and millions more later from radiation poisoning.

      * 4 wars over Kashmir since 1940
      * Military standoff 2001-2002 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001%E2%80%932002_India%E2%80%93Pakistan_standoff
      *2007 Samjhauta Express bombings – Indian army officer bombs Pakistani train killing 68
      *The 2008 Mumbai attacks by ten Pakistani terrorists killed over 173 and wounded 308.

      I wouldn’t lay any bets on peace between these two rivals. China is arming Pakistan to the teeth and any dramatic tilt in the balance of power between these two rivals, that may be threatening to the other, is as explosive as a molotov cocktail. Peace can be hoped for and prayed for but ethnic, national, and religious rivalries run very deep. When God withdraws His spirit from the world for the last time, men will be fully given over to the rapid torrents racing in their own passions.

      S.S., your words couldn’t be more true.

    Sam, I hope you’re right. Even if countries don’t initiate nuclear war deliberately, the risk of launch by techincal or human accident or miscalculation remains a very real possibility. It happened several time during the cold war. Able Archer is just one. Chernobyl and Fukushima are just two examples of the delusion that “it can never happen here.”

    It takes a long time for spiritual truth to penetrate that thick wall of superstition that many religions teach. Once the majority understand this there will be a revolution all over the world. Nothing will change if we don’t understand this. I think a great power has already begun to ascend over the earth and in all countries this is being felt.
    Our loyalty is not to an Article of Faith, not to a Book, not to a Church, but to the Great Spirit of life and to His eternal natural laws. I think we will conquer this but it will take time and until then it will be painful.
