Two inbound CMEs could spark moderate geomagnetic storms

MAY 9, 2012 TWO INCOMING CMEs: A pair of solar eruptions on May 7th hurled coronal masss ejections (CMEs) toward Earth. Forecasttracks prepared by analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab suggests that clouds with arrive in succession on May 9th at 13:40 UT and May 10th at 07:54 UT (+/- 7 hours). The double impact could spark moderate geomagnetic storms. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras. –Space Weather

    Did you see this?
    SOLAR FLARE ALERT:
A moderate solar flare reaching M4.7 took place at 12:32 UTC Wednesday morning.
The flare was centered around Sunspot 1476. Stay Tuned to SolarHam.com for the latest information.

what is the significance of the solar flare being moderate what could happen from it i must say i don’t know much about these things?

      Bryan,
Moderate isn’t that big of a deal, the thing is this new sunspot is harboring C class energy… which is the most powerful of the Classes.
I am including text from an article Spaceweather.com just updated.
SOLAR ACTIVITY INTENSIFIES: Huge sunspot AR1476 is crackling with M-class solar flares and appears to be on the verge of producing something even stronger. The sunspot’s ‘beta-gamma-delta’ magnetic field harbors energy for X-class flares, the most powerful kind. Earth is entering the line of fire as the sunspot rotates across the face of the sun.
to learn more about the classes visit http://spaceweather.com/glossary/flareclasses.html
To learn more about the dangers of EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) from the Flares just do a google search and you should find all kinds of information out there on this subject.

I have a question & post it on this thread due to the implications for our Solar System. Have you written (or linked to) any articles about the Photon Belt &/or the Galactic Super Wave? I have a number of places I keep tabs on for “News” I actually care about(not that garbage “entertainment”, full of disinformation or just flat out lies that the MSM try to pass off as “news”) & yours is a multiple-times-a-day stop in that quest 😉 Keep up the great work!

The “Photon Belt” is a New Age fiction. We are bombarded by photons [packets of light] each nanosecond. The Galactic Super-Wave, if electrical in origin, may actually be dangerous. Google “The Electric Universe” for more info.

This does not mean that we are not in crisis. Velikofsky (sp?) predicted that events that are unfolding now (time-event acceleration) could be caused by an as-yet “undiscovered” companion star to the Sun coming closer to the Solar System. Again, google “The Saturn Hypothesis” for more info.

    We MUST stick together.
