U.S. completes encirclement of Iran- military officials say they can break Iranian forces in less than a month

May 2, 2012PERSIAN GULF As the U.S. beefs up its military presence in the Persian Gulf region, Pentagon strategists estimate that they would need less than a month to defeat Iranian forces should a military conflict take place. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) believes it can destroy or significantly degrade Iran’s conventional armed forces in about three weeks using air and sea strikes, a defense source told The Washington Post. “We plan for any eventuality we can and provide options to the president,” Army Lt. Col. T.G. Taylor, a spokesman at CENTCOM told the newspaper. “We take our guidance from the secretary of defense and from our civilian bosses in [Washington] DC. So any kind of guidance they give us, that’s what we go off of [sic].” The American military has been building up its presence in the region amid rising tension in the area. The U.S. Navy currently has two aircraft carriers deployed near Iran and is upgrading mine-detection and removal capabilities. The U.S. Air Force recently dispatched a number of F-22 Raptor strike fighters to a base in the United Arab Emirates. The move caused backlash from Tehran, which said Wednesday it threatened regional stability. Deploying a “floating base” in the Persian Gulf – a converted transport ship that would serve as a semi-stationary base of operations for the U.S. military – is also on the table. USS Ponce is expected to host mine-sweeping helicopters, speed boats and probably commando teams. The Pentagon has also intensified training of elite troops of its allies in the region. The members of the Joint Special Operations Task Force-Gulf Cooperation Council commando team, who serve as instructors, may be ordered to go into the field as well, should such a need arise. The measures are taken as contingency for possible attack by Iran on U.S. troops or blocking of the Strait of Hormuz, the vital oil transit route, the U.S. says. CENTCOM says there are about 125,000 U.S. troops in close proximity to Iran. The majority of them – 90,000 – are deployed in or around Afghanistan. Some 20,000 soldiers are ashore elsewhere in the Near East region; and a variable 15,000 to 20,000 serve on naval vessels. –RT News
Saudi Arabia issues warning to Iran: Saudi Arabia repeated on Wednesday that it would not tolerate threats to the Gulf Arab states’ sovereignty, the latest warning to Iran after President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to an island claimed by both Tehran and the United Arab Emirates. The warning, the third in as many weeks by a member of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), comes amid increased nervousness in the region over Iran. Shi’ite-led unrest is resurgent in Bahrain a year after the ruling Al Khalifa family brought in Saudi and UAE troops to help suppress an uprising seen by Sunni Muslim Gulf rulers as sectarian in nature and driven by Shi’ite giant Iran. ‘Any harm that comes across any of our countries is harm that touches us all,” Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Nayef said in a speech at a meeting of GCC interior ministers in Riyadh. Nayef also condemned what he called Iran’s “occupation” of the island and its role in events in Bahrain. “We stress that Saudi Arabia and the rest of the council countries are standing in a unified line with Bahrain and the UAE to protect sovereignty and stability, considering their security a part of the council’s security as a whole.” –Reuters

Just wondering if this is the real reason US is building up force near Iran; to be paid as a mercenary agent for the Arabs…i.e. protection for oil swap..? Just wondering because they cannot defeat Iran on their own.

I agree with you John send the Saudie men to fight and die instead of Americans, but they won’t do it they will use the young American men to die for them.

It could go down temporarily as pay back for fighting Iran on the Saudi’s behalf..kind of like what happened with Kuwait. Also, if the world economy does collapse another notch it will make a temporary surplus.

During that month other countries will join Iran and attack USA…. USA have probably succeeded to make Russia to stay out of such an attack thanks to that USA now will train Russian soldiers on US soil.

Now, we just wait for the false flag, because I won’t believe at all Iran will strike first, despite their saber rattling. The USA is going to go down on the wrong side of history on this one.

Not that I think it will happen but I’m currious as to why people think Iran wouldn’t strike first? Is it because the US Military is paying attenting, has them, if we can believe anything we read anymore, surrounded? I, for one, don’t think for a minute that Iran has a strictly peaceful nuclear program. I also don’t doubt that their are sleeper cells here in the US, from a number of different sources & I am currious about the relationship with North Korea, being that THEY have medium range missiles, at the very least & share at least one common enemy. Us.

Wars are fought over wealth, power and resources and there are no truly idealistic world leaders except the ideal of how something benefits them. This war is probably meant to finalize the effort to create a world Government, reduce the worlds population, and establish order based on a new system of commerce and governance. Thousands of idealist converts to globalism have been duped into believing that this is not only good for the world, but that they will gain from the effort. They are fools! While they are confident and filled with pride that they can lead the masses around by the nose through use of the great propaganda machines, they themselves are being controlled and led down a road that leads to ruin.

We have been prodding and tempting Iran to make a first strike against us for months, but I am sure that there is a deadline for these efforts. If they have not attacked by that date then we will probably see that false flag operation which has already been mentioned here. It is possible that we could witness a multi-front world war, and a total economic collapse nearly simultaneously. If so then North Korea will attack South Korea just to try and survive, and almost every other border dispute in the world will erupt into a war. It probably won’t last very long, but it will be very costly.

So….the quicker that American Forces can invade a foreign country and kill as many people as possible the better….is that right? and will Washington want to invade every country that has a nuclear power plant, or just the ones that have oil and want to sell it in currencies other that $US i.e. Iraq & Libya? I recall GW Bush announcing victory in Iraq “Mission Accomplished” after only 3 weeks of ‘SHOCK n AWE’ ( I think that was the bombing campaign…there’s been so many?) but of course it took another 10 years to structure a satisfactorily friendly parliment and build a heap of military bases and beat the locals into submission/ blood the new young soliders in preparation for the next exciting campaign abroad.

It seems that what obama is trying to do is to show a mass of potential force with the hopes that it will keep israel from making a preemptive attack on iran, and from Iran to feel less ambitious regarding it’s wish that Israel should be blown off the face of the Earth. One thing I do not like about all this is that number one: he never kept his promise of ending the war in the mideast and two: He is doing just what Reagan would have done and probably Bush as well, all the while still blaming them for keeping us in debt with war.

    • Not that I need to defend America, but who else is going to defend world peace? Iran? Persians are not Arabs and have their own agenda but have used the Arab-Israeli tension as have Russia and China to trumpet their own agendas. The Arab Oil countries certainly are not going to defend world peace. Their leaders have used oil profits for generations to enrich their own pockets and disgard their own people. Their own populations have run most of the dictators run out of office at the barrel of a gun. Finding a boogey man to blame the problems in the Middle East on seems like an easy thing to do but remember it was Enver Pasha’s (a Muslim) dreams of conquest and delusions of expanding the Ottoman Empire in Turkey is what led to the Western military involvements of the Middle East in the first place in WW I. This certainly was also the case for the First Balkan War of 1912. Had none of this ever happened; there wouldn’t even be a state of Israel.
