Of course people should read the Quran, as they should read the Bible, the Egyptian Book Of The Dead, The Vedas, The Kojiki & every other holy text they can get their hands on, for what is life without knowledge & variety? It’s not the age of the text that matters, it’s the material itself & the personal Truth that can be found within it’s pages.

  2. Wasn’t there a story that as long as Ariel Sharon (the former prime minister, stroke patient) was alive, things would proceed, that when he died, Israel would be in war. Does this tie in with this article as well? I’d really appreciate your thoughts.

    • I’ve heard the same thing and some said the reference to ‘Ariel’ might be to Ariel Sharon, who is still in a comatose state though his condition has improved slightly. The Bible Code has’t exactly been 100% accurate in the past. What is even more interesting is the confluence of so many variables happening during this time frame.

There is a prophecy involving Ariel Sharon’s death, but the reference is not to Israel being involved in a war, but (more excitedly for Christians) that his death would coincide with the return of the Messiah. Watch this link on YouTube to learn more…it’s an interesting prophecy.

    Alvin,
I am at loss at why the government of Israel thinks attacking Iran will in anyway stop the ‘9th of Av. Israel seems to be provoking war rather than accepting Iran for the power it is and treat Iran as a major player in the Middle East. If there were more trust in God rather than weapons Israel might have a chance. I hope the leaders of other countries do not go to world war for a secular Jewish government. Death and destruction will befall all parties to various degrees.

    • I think there is a concensus that if they sit on their hands and do nothing, the State of Israel will cease to exist. Whose to say their enemies aren’t planning an attack on this day? It’s a zero sum game, I agree, but this is exactly the type of “distress of nations with perplexity” the Bible describes will be the fear among nations of killed or be killed scenarios. Given such a climate of panic, it doesn’t take much to see how men in power can start pressing buttons. We live in perilous times for sure.

So would you sit around and wait for them to build it to find out if they were just bull shitting or not? I wouldn’t. You must agree the best defense is an offense, yes?

When has Iran EVER said that it will annihilate Israel at the first opportunity (much less repeatedly)?
While Israel has used this paranoid rational repeatedly, I see no indication that Iran feels this way at all.
Iran has the worlds 2nd largest population of Hebrews besides the holy land.
Iran also has almost 3 dozen synagogues.
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_synagogues_in_Iran
This hardly seems like the behavior of a country that hates the Hebrew people.
Could it not be said that Israel is run by secular, paranoid, anti Arab zealots?
The Scriptures clearly indicate that YHWH’s chosen people, the children of Israel, Judah and/or the sons of Jacob will NOT be destroyed and will dwell forever. Genesis 28:13-15, Deuteronomy 20:1, Joel 3:20, Isaiah 54:14-17 and Malachi 3:6.
It seems that folks that continue to promote the paranoid Zionist war propaganda rhetoric either don’t believe the Scriptures or don’t believe the promises made by the Creator of the Universe.
Iran doesn’t need the atomic weapons to destroy the current Zionist state of Israel. All they would need to do is use conventional bombs on the nuclear, biological and chemical plants that the Zionist government of Israel denies they have. The resulting fallout would fallout would devastate Israel.

Alvin– Sorry to say this, but the Tower of Braham is most likely a legend. With 64 disks and 3 pegs, it has been calculated that it would take 585 billion years to move entire stack to another peg if the monks moved a disc every second. (cf. Wikipedia link-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tower_of_hanoi).
Also, I would not put too much trust in the genaologies of Luke or Matthew; a close study of both genaologies show that they are not harmonious and they skip some generations, and in some case give different names. I have heard that some people explained that one is for lineage of Mary and the other for Joseph, but that is not a very good explaination.
    Keep up the good work.

  14. The genealogies of Mary and Joseph are interesting as explained by Chuck Missler. The one which has Heli as Joseph’s father is reported by Missler to be because Heli adopted Joseph, his son-in-law, which was a custom when there was only a daughter to inherit. But the other genealogy lists Joseph’s birth father, which would be more consistent with legal descent from David. However, Mary descended from Nathan, who was not in the “cursed” line of Solomon, but still descended from David. Mary and Joseph did not have exactly the same descent from David, if I am not mistaken,
That 9th of AV seems significant, but there is no year listed. That it is the beginning of the games is ominous, remembering the horrible Olympic incident where the Israeli team was murdered.

With all due respect to Mr. Missler, the genealogies of Matthew and Luke cannot be trusted to be accurate and complete. Luke lists 43 people from David to Jesus, while Matthew lists only 28. That is awfully lot of people missing from Matthew’s account. Also, compared to Chronicles 1, Matthew is missing three generations. There is just no way around it, sorry, but the Bible is far from being perfect.

It is perfect linguistically, Mathematically, scientifically, spiritually and in every conceivable way. If we are having a problem understanding something in His Word…then God is giving us an opportunity for discovery. Our Lord is amazing and quite capable of giving us a perfect Word. The problem is not with His Word…it is with us and we are given the honor to search it out.

From a “natural” point of view, it is a minor miracle that those Jews could keep such a genealogical record at all. Most genealogies are “missing” pieces. Luke was probably more educated than Matthew, maybe he was right about the genealogy of Jesus.

      • Nanoduck, I found the answer to the difference in the number of Jesus’ antecedents back to David, in Matthew and Luke. I looked at the genealogies in the KJV. The difference in number is accounted for because Luke traces Mary’s lineage back to Nathan, the son of David (the uncursed line), while Matthew traces Joseph’s lineage back to Solomon, another son of David. Some antecedents apparently lived longer than others, making generations longer in one lineage than another. Matthew traces through Joseph because that is the way the levitical Jews traced, through the father.

The problem with the tension in the Middle East, however, has its roots in a religious text, the Hebrew Bible; see Genesis 16 and 21 for specifics. “And he shall be a wild ass of a man; his hand against all, and the hand of everyone against him; and he shall live before all of his brothers.” Genesis 16:12. These words are spoken by an Angel of the Lord and serve as an announcement of the birth of Ishmael (who is also named by the angel); it is also the first account of such an announcement in the Bible. Hagar, who has fled the cruelty of Sarai (wife of Abram), her master, is commanded to return and is promised, “I will exceedingly multiply your seed….” Later, after she and Ishmael are exiled, Hagar is visited again, and an angel of the Lord saves her life and the life of her son. Were it the will of God for Ishmael to die, he would have died. But the forefather of Islam survived, twice, by the hand of a Messenger of God, which can only mean that his survival was ordained. Thousands of years later, here we are, at odds again. So, in this instance, secular texts, myth or otherwise, are not strictly relevant. But as you suggest, our “expedient ways of killing each other” will see that we receive the future we deserve.
