Mount Lamington volcano awakens in Papua New Guinea after 56 years

April 19, 2012PAPUA NEW GUINEA Mount Lamington is a stratovolcano in the Oro Province of Papua New Guinea. Local community of Popendetta reported smoke and ash emission on March 25. No official reports have come in yet. Lamington is an andesitic stratovolcano with a 1.3-km-wide breached summit crater containing a lava dome. After a long quiescent period, the volcano sprang suddenly to life in 1951, producing a powerful explosive eruption during which devastating pyroclastic flows and surges swept all sides of the volcano, killing nearly 3000 persons. The eruption concluded with growth of a 560-m-high lava dome in the summit crater. The volcano last erupted in 1956. –SYFN

Most of these volcanoes will erupt before the Solar Eclipse of May 20, 2012.

Too many volcanic eruptions — something significant is truly going on deep in the earth. By the way, Alvin, I couldn’t find your posting of the strange lighted object over Arizona when I wanted to view it again. Will you be posting it again?

I hate to admit this, but I’ve kind of lost track of all the volcanoe’s that are coming to life. They seem to be all around the ring of fire? Is that right? And have you heard anything about yellowstone lately? I have’nt heard anything for several months. I’m not vocanologist either, but aren’t there usually tremors before eruptions? Bottom line is possiblility for global earhtquake with multiple volcano eruptions? Would that appear to be every Island, and mountain being moved? Or I’ve also heard that Island is symbol for small governments, and mountains are symbols for kingdoms. But I think maybe in this case it’s a literal meaning, what do you think?

Scientists estimate we could have as little as a 2 hour warning if Yellowstone erupted. If the eruption is like the massive variety that happened about 640,000 years ago, 240 cubic miles of volcanic ash could be released in the air- basically enough to bury half of the U.S. in ash up to 1 meter deep. Right now, the volcano is estimated to be about 40,000 years overdue for its next eruption; so it could go off any day now with relatively little or no warning. It may also not happen for another 100 years- even the experts don’t know. However, the day it does violently explode; it will be game-changer for the entire human race. The tremors could actually come with the eruption like in the case of Eritrea’s violent Nabro volcanic eruption in 2011. Prior to the June 2011 eruption, the Nabro volcano exhibited no signs of unrest and the tremor swarm started hours before the expulsion of lava. In reference to every island and mountain being moved; I think it means just that. The more familiar you are with the Earth’s violent geological past, the more you know this is well within the realm of possibility, as most islands were created by volcanic processes and most will likely be claimed by a similar unwinding event.

Well, we could have seen this coming since there have been how many 6 plus earthquakes down there? I believe that the earth may very well be “cracking up” as one of your previous articles said. Thanks for always keeping us posted Alvin.

    Alvin,

Is this now #50 for volcanoes this year?

    Warmth,

    • Yes, that makes the 50th volcano eruption. So we’ve now tied all the volcanic eruptions in 2011 in less than four full months.

      Warmth returned,

Multiple earthquakes, some strong, also an increase in volcano activity, not to mention severe storms with high number of tornadoes. Somethings up, that’s for sure. Several foreign scientists have called for severe weather patterns from 2011-2013 and I do believe they are correct. Naturally our own scientists keep their mouths shut and won’t admit to the strange earth changes. Thanks for this site that keeps every one informed and up to date. Good job….

So, I believe this one makes #50 for active earthquakes.

As for the islands and mountains being moved:

Revelation 6:14 – And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

Yes, that verse is always in the back of my mind when I hear about all these strange events. I live in Wa state and have been keeping a close eye on our volcanoes…Mt Rainier and Mt St Helens are among many volcanoes here. Mt Hood had an earthquake swarm of over 30 quakes in just a few hours a few weeks ago but USGS deleted the evidence of it.

Keep a watch on those volcanoes, can’t rely on USGS. I have a sister out that way and can’t help but worry about her. Our gov. is bad about withholding info from the public. That’s why a lot of times I go to foreign sites to find out what’s happening and what other scientists think about the strange weather phenomena that’s occurring around the globe.

What is the record for number of volcanic eruptions in one year? We must be getting close…

BTW, I tried to open the post about the “Mysterious fireball in the sky over four states puzzling scientists”, but I only get the ‘Page Not Found’ notice. Why did it disappear?

I use an iTunes app called Quake Watch that is very good. It has a running list of Earthquakes which is kept updated very quickly, as well as very good maps. You can view where and how many Earthquakes over the last week and choose the magnitude. At the moment they are showing 546 mag. 2.5+ over the past week. Prior to the two large 8+ they were usually showing between 180 and 220 per week at that 2.5+ magnitude. It is VERY scary to see such a large uptick since then. Currently reading your book, Alvin. Amazing work. Thank you so much!
    Many blessings,

my belief is that IF a supervolcano was due to erupt within (this is only an example) say the next few days, due to the amount of persons in the nearby area and beyond, the government wouldn’t give anyone a warning because there would be nowhere for anybody to go amid mass panic. sorry to say this but you would be on your own.
