Are earthquakes destabilizing tectonic plates across the globe?

April 16, 2012 WORLDA leading earthquake scientist has warned that the planet could be cracking up after a series of massive quakes in just 48 hours. Expert Gheorghe Marmureanu – from Romania’s National Institute of Earth Physics – says 39 quakes had hit the globe within two days. The series started with two massive quakes in Indonesia measuring 8.6 and 8.2 on the Richter scale rapidly followed by three more only slightly smaller in Mexico within hours. “There is no doubt that something is seriously wrong. There have been too many strong earthquakes,” said Marmureanu. He added: “The quakes are a surprise that cannot be easily explained by current scientific knowledge. With the Indonesian quake for example, statistically, there should be one big earthquake in this part of Asia every 500 years. However, since 2004, there were already three quakes with a magnitude of over 8, which is not normal. –Croatian Times

This is unsettling, to say the least. The world hasn’t seen something like this for a very long time, I believe.

What this mean? That the Earth is breaking up?

    • I have no idea what his metaphor is referring to and would be hesitant to put words in his mouth. Tectonic plates testify that the crust of the planet is already broken like an egg- unless he’s referring to further lithospheric fracturing.

That’s what I said two years ago and wrote in my book. “If you keep seismically shaking the Earth, like a bottle of soda, its structural integrity eventually will become compromised and it will start to fracture like an egg. In this case, the fracturing will be thermal dissipation by hyper-volcanism, mega-thrust earthquakes, and greater tectonic boundary plate agitation around volcanic arcs and subduction zones…if this is what’s indeed happening, the pressure will continue to build in the interior of the planet until it eventually destabilizes all tectonic plates in a spectral pattern of continous seismic oscillation. Every earthquake generates and emits enough kinetic energy through the earth to potentially trigger more seismic disturbances.” –The Extinction Protocol, page 495

Yes, in a 2008 study conducted by the University of Utah, Seismology Dept, and published in May 2008, in the scientific journal Nature Geoscience. The report is called, Big Quakes Spark Jolts Worldwide and yes, it was funded by the USGS. The study found that seismic waves can cause spectral patterns of seismic disturbances, even on the other side of the planet.

The report says: “Until 1992, when California’s magnitude-7.3 Landers earthquake set off small jolts as far away as Yellowstone National Park, scientists did not believe large earthquakes sparked smaller tremors at distant locations. Now, a definitive study shows large earthquakes routinely trigger smaller jolts worldwide, including on the opposite side of the planet and in areas not prone to quakes. “Previously it was thought seismically active regions or geothermal areas were most vulnerable to large earthquake triggers,” says Kris Pankow, a seismologist at the University of Utah Seismograph Stations and a co-author of the new study. But Pankow and colleagues analyzed 15 major earthquakes stronger than magnitude-7.0 since 1992, and found that at least 12 of them triggered small quakes hundreds and even thousands of miles away, according to the findings published online Sunday, May 25, 2008 in the journal Nature Geoscience. “We conclude that dynamic triggering is a ubiquitous phenomenon,” they wrote. Pankow conducted the study with seismologist Aaron Velasco and undergraduate student Stephen Hernandez, both at the University of Texas at El Paso; and seismologist Tom Parsons, of U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, California… There are about 600 small seismic events around the Earth every five minutes. For five hours after the arrival of Love waves from a major quake, the researchers saw a 37 percent increase in the number of small quakes worldwide. And when Rayleigh waves from the same large quake followed the Love waves, the number of small quakes worldwide shot up by 60 percent during the five hours after the major quake… The study was funded by the United States Geological Survey and the National Science Foundation, Pankow says.” – http://www.unews.utah.edu/old/p/052008-1.html

In 2001 I wrote a book that explained a new understanding of Einsteinian equations. In this new conceptual framework are possible deformations of space-time through cosmic magnifying glass. In next alignment Milky Way center-Sun-Earth, the Earth will be at the center of one of these space-time deformations, the Sun being the source of this cosmic magnifying glass.
If I’m right, this increased activity of tectonic plates is just the beginning.
Don’t panic! I’m just a physics enthusiast, with open mind to new understandings.

Thanks for that post Alvin. You do have a lot of posts on here and from time to time I find one’s like this one which are really important to share with others. We can all yell and shout about the unusual activity, but when a scientist jumps on and joins in, that’s key to get peoples attention. The scientists usually have personal reasons such as being too scared about coming public with their theories, so it’s a rare thing.

These physical events occurring here in our dimension, not only with the earthquakes but with the increased volcanic activity, weather patterns, seasonal changes, strange noises in the earth, etc, are all pointing towards a pole shift(aka reversal) I believe, and this is the theory I considered most likely to occur after finishing my research on 2012 a few years back. I now lean towards Dolores Cannon’s information that she presents in a lot of her books which also confirm this. As she has said, beings (whether humans or otherwise) have been working with the energies (energy grid, laylines, energetic aura, etc) of the planet for a while now, trying to help and make it so the earth changes are not so bad, but they can’t stop the final outcome..

Laron, There are energies around us that we can;t see. We are being affected by the solar storms, electromagnetic energy changes and other energies of the universe that we can’t see with our eyes. Look up, do not fear and know miracles you can’t imagine are in the wings. I think the pole shift is an opportunity to ascend, a shift in the energy.. The Lord has not deserted us, this is what we have been waiting for, we have not been given a spirit of fear. We are eternal, we are powerful spiritual beings.

Magenta, nicely said. I agree with all of that. I personally wouldn’t use the word Lord or God, but the term ‘source’. Through my blogs I probably focus more on the spiritual side of things including the shift to a higher realm/dimension and the new earth, rather than the physical earth change side of things, which can produce fear.
While it’s important for people to understand what’s going on, it’s equally important that people don’t start forming fear in their day to day life. I also think it’s important, for a number of reasons, that each of us keep a positive energetic thought form process happening, but still we should be prepared in whatever ways that is practical to us.

I watched the Lars Von Trier movie “Melancholia” last night. Excruciatingly beautiful yet so hauntingly disturbing that thoughts of it still remain with me today. One thing I have noticed lately is that the Disaster movie genre has changed completely. From early movies such as The Towering Inferno & Dante’s Peak where the headlining disaster was contained locally, the movies that are being made & released lately are showing catastrophe on a previously unheard of scale. Compare Knowing, 2012 & now Melancholia to Volcano & even The Day After Tomorrow where there is a happy ending for most. There is a definite uptick toward global decimation & the end of all Earthly things in these newer works. Could it be that our subconcious is accepting the inevitable & we are being sublimely warned? Or is it simply that Hollywood knows what sells & in this global climate of fear & uncertainty regarding 2012 & they are making a fortune?

Agian, thank you alvin for this great website. Without people like you we would all be lured into a deep lazy haze the media and the government want us to see. Why? Do they know something we do not? As i said before the sun is the key. It is practically dead as compared to eleven years ago. with the output being so so low the earth’s magnetic field is dropping even faster than we thought before. This is what is causing all the destabilizing in our blue ball, It doesn’t look like iit is going to get any better… Please keep us informed as you have for as long as you can… Thank you…

Interesting article but not sure about his claim of only one large quake every 500 years?
Wikipedia lists show an 8.4 in 1797, an 8.8-9.2 in 1833, and an 8.5 in 1861 (estimated magnitudes), each one generated destructive tsunami waves.
Perhaps he never saw this report either:

I spoke to my Oceanography teacher about what’s been going on with the plates and she said that they’re all connected. When one moves, the others follow. I liken that to the gears on a clock.

And in particle physics, one elementary particle can move and the other one moves too, instanteously – no matter what the distance is that separates them. And these particles are not physically connected and are not gears. Ask her about supersymmetry. There is much more at work in the universe than inertia.

  21. Great site, talk about great earthquake, now i’m living in Padang, west coast of Sumatra, nearest city from the potential 8,9 magnitude earthquake, mentawai 200 years cycle megathrust waiting to happen.
The 1833 Sumatra earthquake occurred on 1833, with an estimated magnitude in the range Mw= 8.8–9.2. It caused a large tsunami that flooded the southwestern coast of the island. Scientists said that it was 200 years cycle, so we are approaching the D-Day cycle…
After the last twin 8,0+ magnitude earthquake near Aceh, we all live in fear here…cause so many scientists talk about the twin mega earthquake could possibly trigger mentawai megathrust to explode…especially when our city, Padang don’t have anti-tsunami protection, such as seawall, enough shelter and traffic jam free road for evacuation…it’s so frustrating…

  22. I live in Padang, city located in western coast of Sumatra since 2005. I have been experienced numerous great earthquakes here almost every year till today.
    2005 – March – 8,7 Magnitude – 1,300 ppl killed
    2007 – March – 6,4 & 6,3 Magnitude – 82 killed
    2007 – April – 7,8 Magnitude – 62 injured
    2007 – September – 8,5 Magnitude – 23 ppl killed
    2008 – February – 7,4 Magnitude
    2009 – September – 7,9 Magnitude – 1,100 ppl killed
    2010 – April – 7,8 Magnitude – 23 injured
    2010 – May – 7,2 Magnitude
    2010 – October – 7,7 – 435 killed (tsunami)
    2012 – Januari – 7,3 Magnitude
    2012 – April – 8,6 Magnitude – 5 ppl killed
    2012 – April – 8,2 Magnitude
The natives told me that “the earthquake phenomena” occurred after Aceh Mega Earthquake & Tsunami in 2004. My question is, how come we hit by so many earthquakes within a short period? I don’t think it’s coincidence or just meaningless events, there must be some reasons behind it.

I did some research on that a few days back. There are over a million earthquakes a year. Here are my results copied from my blog,

” I have ran my own report based upon the number of earthquakes of magnitude 5 and above that occurred from the 11th of April to the 16th of April, and compared that with the average annual number of earthquakes (5 and above) from the USGS site. Annually there are 1469 earthquakes of magnitude 5 and above. That is an average of four a day. Over a six day period, which is 24 earthquakes is what we should expect. For the six day period in question, there were a total of 69 magnitude 5 and above earthquakes. That is getting near triple the average which is a bit unusual.”

But that didn’t take into account the news articles coming out this week regarding the man made earth quakes in the USA.
