What peace? Israeli TV shows air force gearing up for an attack on Iran

April 15, 2012 ISRAELA major Israel TV station on Sunday night broadcast a detailed report on how Israel will go about attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities in the event that diplomacy and sanctions fail and Israel decides to carry out an attack. The report, screened on the main evening news of Channel 10, was remarkable both in terms of the access granted to the reporter, and the fact that his assessments on a strike were cleared by the military censor. No order to strike is likely to be given before the P5+1 talks with Iran resume in May, the reporter, Alon Ben-David, said. “But the coming summer will not only be hot but tense.” In the event that negotiations fail and the order is given for Israel to carry out an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, “dozens if not more planes” will take part in the mission: attack and escort jets, tankers for mid-air refueling, electronic warfare planes and rescue helicopters, the report said. Ben-David said the Israel Air Force “does not have the capacity to destroy the entire Iranian program.” There will be no replication of the decisive strikes on Iraq’s Osirak reactor in 1981 or on Syria in 2007, he said. “The result won’t definitive.” But, a pilot quoted in the report said, the IAF will have to ensure that it emerges with the necessary result, with “a short and professional” assault. Ben-David said that if negotiations break down, and Iran moves key parts of its nuclear program underground to its Qom facility, the IAF “is likely to get the order and to set out on the long journey to Iran.” “Years of preparations are likely to come to realization,” he said, adding that “the moment of truth is near.” Ben-David interviewed several squadron leaders, pilots and other officers. He noted that some of the IAF personnel, “it is likely, will not return from the mission.” An officer named Gilad said it would be “naive” to think there would be no losses.
The IAF is said to be worried about the advanced anti-aircraft systems that Russia has sold to countries in the region, the report said. Among those systems, the SA 17 and 22 in Syria and Iran present a challenge, according to the report. According to the report, it’s the older versions of the F-15 that can fly further than any other plane in Israel’s arsenal, and this puts it on the front line of any potential attack. One pilot said in the report that the F-15, or ‘Havaz,’ “is a plane with a very wide range of operation — a combination of relatively energy-efficient engines, and significant flightworthiness regarding weapons and fuel.” The IAF has a full-sized unmanned plane, the “Eitan,” that is said to be able to fly to Iran, the report added. “This plane can do all that is required of it when the order is given,” a pilot said, without elaboration. The attack, the report said, would presumably trigger a war in northern Israel, with missile attacks (presumably from the Iranian-proxy Hezbollah in Lebanon). “There will no tranquility and peace anywhere in Israel,” Ben-David said. This could be the first full-scale war the IAF has fought in nearly 30 years, the report stated. Pilots had already been told where their families would be moved, away from their bases, for safety, the report said. –Times of Israel

If this is in the plan, I just hope Israel will not let their plans leak- as Iran will know immediately, if you know what I mean. All will be OK- you know who is on their side. What a blessing.

I don’t believe the IAF would be that dumb to grant full disclosure of a preemptive strike involving the enemy’s strike position unless it was a head-fake to the right courtesy of the ‘Kansas City Shuffle’ move. Part of the report reeks of disinformation to benefit the IAF.

Their moles and spooks are in Iran giving intel to the Israelis et al on a regular basis. We’ll be reading future books about the strike that stopped Iran from furthering their nuclear power capabilities and how the event placed Iran back to the stone age.

The Israelis are in the hot seat near the brink of extinction and I am glad as an American citizen to have donated the funds through US taxpayer dollars in support their actions.

    Godspeed

As I stated on your post of North Korea’s long range missile, before its failed launch, all efforts to start world war will be thwarted by the Devine. Intervention is now at hand. Please stop feeding Your energies into fear and worry of these events and concentrate Your energies on the world you envision, one of Peace, Love and Freedom. It is time to leave duality and make a concerted effort of Unity. You and Your thoughts are all more powerful than You have led to believe!

Who said anything about peace? Iran stated emphatically Israel will be removed from the world. Israel should sit and eat falafel until Iran make a move -not bother to be prepared?

Rubbish….irans target is what they call the zionist regime. Thats who they want to get rid of. Not the country or its people. Quick facts for you: jews are protected in irans constitution. A seat is reserved for them in the majlis. You can find videos of ahmadinejad meeting with them in what appears to be a very friendly fashion. You can also see protests of israels government by hasidic jews in the US. Also keep in mind that iran has NEVER attacked israel. They also have the next highest population of jews in the middle east.
When it comes to western media; buyer beware. Things are rarely as they appear on the surface. War is not fun. Ive been there.

This strike, if it actually occurs, could result in heavy loses by the IAF.
This will be a suicide mission in a sense. The IAF is one of the most respected Air Units in the world. This strike will decrease its effectiveness to defend Israel creating a opportunity for the arabs and Persians.
And again, the USA had two air fleets in the area and could have effectively taken out the facilities at that time. Again, setting Israel up for world condemnation again…
    Just an opinion………………….

The Land is a Bibical covenant given to them over 5,000 years ago nThe Living God. Israel was punished for disobedience and lost custody of the Land. The fact that they exist is a miracle. The fact that they exist proves that God’s Word is true and its promises because they are the try bones come to life. That is not to say they don’t make mistakes.
The forthcoming war(s) is not about land, it is about hate and control of The Temple Mount in Jerusalem. If it was about land, the issue would have been settled during President Clinton’s Term becaue he worked it hard and Isreal offered 99 per cent of what Arafat wanted and he declined.
No Israel is hated by satan because she brought forth the savior Jesus Christ and chosen by The Father God as his own. Oil has been used as a barginning chip to help futher the arab complaint. The palestinans have a counrty, it is called Jordan. The current palestinans are decendents
of those arabs who were instructed to leave Israel in the 1948-49 conflict by the attacking arab countries who promised that once Israel was destroyed, they could come back. They lost. And israel has denied their return and rightly so. Israel will never be rooted up from the Land. You are in error, in that in 614 c.e. Perisa did invade Israel, Knoskru II.

    Lets get logigal here
The minute the planes are in the air Iran will know about it and their destination
    Iran activates counter-measures
    Iran begins firing Missiles
Israel activates counter measure (anti missile systems) due to the massive retaliation
by Iran, Israel manages to destroy 95% of the missiles. 5% get trough
What if, some of the warheads that get through have nuclear or biological

    • Before it gets to that point, the country we know as Iran will no longer exist. More massive change is coming to Arab lands and I don’t think it’s anything along the lines of what many are envisioning as a ‘Spring.’ My advice to all is strap on your seatbelts, the roller coaster is about to soon turn upside down.

The day Iran threatens and I don’t mean talk but actually threaten Israel with weapons of mass destruction, biological or otherwise, is the day mushroom clouds will be rising over the countryside of Iran. U.S. satellites confirmed, and I have seen, the nuclear silo doors opened during the Iraq War when Iraq fired scubs into Israel. We should have no misgivings about Israel’s desire for self-preservation which includes a pre-emptive protocol in its nuclear offense and defense doctrine if it even suspects there is a legimate threat. Manechem Begin said the idea of ‘nuclear bombs’ falling on Jewish children in Israel is something he swore no Israeli citizen would ever live to see.

        I

Whether Iran ever develops nuclear weapons at this point is immaterial; they’re already producing radioactive material and they already have a ballistic missile system capable of hitting Israel, so the rockets can already function as a RDD, a radiological dispersal device. This crisis is already that serious.

michj – I too find it highly offensive comparing this possible war to the Holocaust. People that do not read or listen to history would be better leaving such things unsaid. I cannot claim to know all that much about Israeli politics, yet I am an interested observer & I have noticed that they are always protected, regardless & that somehow they can flout international law at will. As for the fanatical Christian armchair generals – who salivate at the thought of another disaster or war because they think it’s bringing Jesus back – they will brutally find out before this is done with that PEACE would have been the far better option.
      Peace
