Could Earth be impacted by large asteroid February 15-16, 2013?

March 4, 2012 SPACEScientists are predicting that the asteroid 2012 DA14 has a good chance of colliding with earth in eleven months. Watch the skies in February 2013! According to RT, NASA has confirmed that the 60 meter (or 197 feet) asteroid, which was spotted by Spanish stargazers in February this year, has a good chance of colliding with earth. The scientists suggest confronting this asteroid with either big guns or, more strangely, with paint. The problem with either option is that there is no time to build a spaceship for the operation. A spaceship could either shoot the asteroid down or simply crash into it – this would either break it into pieces or throw it off course. NASA expert David Dunham suggested: “We could paint it.” The paint would change the asteroid’s ability to reflect sunlight, alter its spin and change its temperature. However, even taking the asteroid off course could be dangerous when it returns in 2056, according to Aleksandr Devaytkin the head of the observatory in Russia’s Pulkovo, as told to Izvestia in Russia recently. The asteroid’s closest approach to earth is scheduled for 15 February 2013, when they predict that the distance between it and earth will be under 27,000 km (16,700 miles). With the asteroid zooming that low, it will be too late to do anything with it besides trying to predict its final destination and the consequences of impact. However, NASA’s David Dunham did say: “The asteroid may split into pieces entering the atmosphere. In this case, most parts of it will never reach the planet’s surface.” But theories are that if the entire asteroid did crash into the planet, the impact will be as hard as in the Tunguska blast, which in 1908 knocked down trees over a total area of 2,150 sq km (830 sq miles) in Siberia. So keep your head down and watch the skies. –Digital Journal
As you can see, the Earth distance of object 2012 DA14 on the JPL chart approaches 16,700 miles on February 16, 2013, where the question of gravity accretion could be an issue depending on the trajectory path of the asteroid. It could also be a miss. The A.M. or Apparent Magnitude scale puts the object’s brightness at 24.4 H, which would make it a little brighter than Pluto’s moon, Nix, which means it would not be highly visible to the naked eye until it entered Earth’s atmosphere. –The Extinction Protocol
Earth’s gravity: Earth could capture an asteroid, but only under certain conditions. The asteroid would have to be a certain size, traveling at just the right speed, and grazing by Earth at just the right angle. For example, a bus-sized asteroid grazing Earth’s atmosphere might be captured by our planet’s gravity. Afterward, moon’s gravity might pull it into a stable orbit above Earth – to give Earth a second moon. Planetary scientists believe that asteroid capture was common billions of years ago. The planets are thought to have formed by a process of “accretion” – where small chunks of debris came together to form larger chunks. So there were lots more chunks – what we now call “asteroids” – moving through the solar system back then. –Earth-Sky

How much clearer does God’s prophetic Word need to become??? WE ARE AT THE END OF THE AGE!

It appears that we have 11 months until “a great mountain, burning with fire” is “thrown into the sea”.

Revelation 8:8 Then the second angel sounded: And something like A GREAT MOUNTAIN BURNING WITH FIRE was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood.

Ms. McCray, do you simply just believe everything? Belief is not fact. Doomsday will or won’t come and it will or won’t in its own time. Having an open mind doesn’t mean you should make it a repository for horse sh–. You would be a calmer individual if you simply started living and not clutching on to every silly thing that justified what you believe. Why do some of the worshipers of a loving god, drool so lustily at the though of a smiting?

Now, he’s starting to think about this asteroid in a destructive way. I try to calm his nerves about it. But, he’s insistent that our doomsday is near. (How many times in my 44 years of life have I heard that the end is near…? And, how many times was it that my father had told me that he also has heard it…?) PEOPLE, WE JUST REALLY DON’T KNOW AND WE AREN’T MEANT TO KNOW! DEAL WITH IT AND ENJOY YOU LIVES.

Not wishing to be overly dramatic. I’ve done some serious research into the 2012-02=15 2012 DA14 potential for Earth impact and the fact that the best JPL has right now for trajectory confidence level is around 50 percent. I went to a couple of University’s that are working on the final orbit solution, and they say that they only have around a 20 minute window to get better telemetry on this thing and. Arecibo just may miss the window because it moves so slow. One more thing. If you use the JPL applet to render the current info on this rock. Change the settings to HOUR instead of DAY. It gets inside of 15,000 miles when it comes by. If we are lucky and it does get by. I hope NASA and the JPL folks will give us honest new data. This thing has a 366. and change day orbit and that will give us one year to deal with it. .Peace and I wish all a great new year.

Well peoples…. Can we say Wormwood? Or Katchina? So… Lets see… The largest massive solar flare ever comprehended erupts from the sun and directly hits the earth around 12-21-12… Not only does completely cripple our electrical systems (all of them and everything that is associated with electricity [yes this includes nuclear power plants and there cooling systems, and brocasting systems]) but inturn also causes the megnetosphere to be so abruptly shifted and disrupted to the degree that it affects the earths magnetically aligned core causing the already unstable shifting poles to suddenly shift dramatically which causes the liquification of the earths crust. When that happen then we will see earthquakes everyday that put the one in Japan to shame; also causing all the dormant valcanoes to come alive includeing supermassive valconoes. Well… as if that isn’t enough… a couple months later we get hit with an asteroid…. What will happen if it hits an area that is already weakened by the liquification of the earth crust? Can anyone please tell me?

I dont think that you should project your faith on to things like this; it’s a matter of science here, proven fact, not of any diety which may or may not exist. We cant rely on prophecy; often, such things are very vague and suit a number of interpretations and scenarios.

I feel that we need to focus on the predictions and works published by professionals who understand the laws of physics we have formulated, based on thousands of year’s worth of research and scientific discovery, rather than the murky words of a tome dealing more with the morality of man than man’s inevitable fate.

With your “focus on the predictions and works published by professionals who understand the laws of physics”, you are also showing your “faith” in these people. We all see the happenings of what is going on around us through our own worldview. But I do appreciate your comment and look forward to hearing more on your ideas of these laws of physics and how you see them applying with these situations.

Had you been an effective ‘troller‘ you would have known, I never said the world would either end on December 21, 2012 or to expect an incident that day. Secondly; fact check: According to geologists, there were no humanids living on the planet during the Cretaceous extinction during the Chicxulub asteroid impact, which wiped out the dinosaurs 70 million years ago. Primitive apes did not appear until the Eocene period (37-58 million yrs BP) some 40 million years later, and humanoids supposedly appeared eons later. So no, according to science, humans have never survived a major asteroid impact, which is why scientist stay awake at night trying to invent ways to prevent these rocks from impacting the planet.

        Rest well, and happy trolling.

  9. The 6.0E-4 is scientific notation. which is actually. 0.0006 AU.

    Given Data from site:
    Feb. 15, 2013 at 00:25 (12:25 am), Distance 0.000181069371133235 AU or 16,832 miles

This is within Mid Earth Orbit which is where GPS satellites are. So based on the mass and make up of the asteroid will determine what it will do. Could just pass on by. But more then likely it will get caught up in our gravity and be pulled in, in which case it could just burn up, or break up into several pieces, or just the whole thing impacts, in which case it will be like a nuclear bomb going off taking out and area at least 830 sq miles.

Best advise: prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

and thanks for the info, it helps a lot of people out.

For those who seem to think it’s luck (or God) that has kept us from collisions in the past, consider this, the distances between bodies in space are so vast that it’s a miracle any two bodies ever collide. We are always being warned of impending collisions, this one will pass us by just like the other close passes in the past, if it was moving slow enough, then perhaps it could get trapped by Earth’s gravity, but it’s highly unlikely. Don’t worry, the world will end someday, but not on that day (or on 12-21-12), and mankind will most likely be extinct long before the world ends.

Let’s all keep alert. not sure if our (goverment) would even tell us if something was going to happen. The would probly be safe in a bunker, while we’re left to try to survive.

There was a impact during the year 535 A.D. By Australia. I’m not sure how big the asteroid was. It blacked out the sky for some time. You all should look into Cliff High (web bot) the site halfpasthuman . He is predicting along with with others about water displacement early next year. hmmm..

I have been into remote viewing since 93 and I can point you to the Farsight institute 2012 experiment. ( a kind word for what was viewed by the CRV staff of military grade viewers) June 1 st 2013 the world we live in is no longer the same – and the ideograms and perceptions of who’s left shows lots of rusted metal ,frustrating efforts in growing food, this takes months after walls of water devistate humanity . DU14 in my book fits the bill and you may want to include a life jacket with your bugout bag ! Now you know why the gov has built 138 dumbs and have to disarm us so the global elite can rule absolute when its over. , and why Obama blew many trillions as if it. Would not ever be repaid ! It will slam into many satellites and deflect into our planet at a slant that will drown us all like dragonflys in a storm ,.your home if within 300 miles of any coast will be under 20 feet of sand wells will be along with crops destroyed by salt . This is the harvest and earths purification and has bottle necked civilizations for eons .

Martin and other readers – Don’t make the mistake, of being completely complacent.
Events don’t have to be ‘End Of the World’, to be very destructive.

Entire civilizations have been eliminated by unknown catastrophes, which people are still trying to figure out today.
Take a look at the ancient cities, lost in the South American jungles – What would cause people to completely abandon these immense structures, that took years, if not centuries, to build?

What is remarkable, is that some historians and archaeologists are starting to “connect the dots” and have noticed the the ‘disappearance’ of some of these civilizations, have occurred around the same time frame.
Very interesting book by David Keys:

That being said – I am not saying that we should lose sleep over this, just be aware. 🙂 Peace !!

Well I dont know if it will hit but it is VERY likely. All one has to do is look at the Earths geography and you can find huge craters. Obviously, we have been hit before and we will get hit again.

Maybe scary days ahead. What must it be like to stare to the sky and see that burning ball approach. Im all for hoping on a miss, Waiting for some experts do some talking who i can trust. No wait. ITS OK. Nasa said it is OK, we can sleep easily now. If only i was that person who could trust Nasa. God Bless All.
