Magma Plume: Is Hawaii’s most active volcano about to enter a more violent phase?

February 24, 2012HAWAII – A magnitude 4.1 earthquake rattled the summit of Kilauea tonight, continuing a swarm of small tremors that shook the region Wednesday. The latest quake, which hit at 9:11 p.m., was the strongest of the swarm so far and was centered 5 miles west of Volcano at a depth of 3.2 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The shaking was felt up to 75 miles away in Waikoloa, according to the USGS. A flurry of small temblors were recorded after the 4.1 magnitude quake. On Wednesday, USGS officials said a swarm of more than 60 small, shallow quakes — the strongest measuring magnitude 3.2 — were recorded in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Swarms of small quakes have been recorded before in the area and sometimes signal a shift in the eruption of the east rift of the volcano, they said. –Star Adviser
Seismic tremors increasing: On Friday, February 24th, 2012, a 4.3 magnitude earthquake, the strongest in the swarm series thus far, struck the region near the volcano. On January 24, 2012, the volcano was rattled by a 4.7 maganitude earthquake. Clearly, Kilauea is entering a more violent phase of eruptions. Like El Hierro in the Canary Islands, like Italy’s Mt. Etna, and Icleand’s volcanic fields, the planet’s magma plumes are seen an inordinate rise in activity- a sign of more trouble to come. We began sounding the warnings back in December of 2011, when  a profuse lava flow from Kīlauea breached the West Ka‘ili‘ili ocean for the first time in 4 years. A scientist then warned the volcano was capable of very violent eruptions. Meanwhile, the earthquake swarm continues.  –The Extinction Protocol

The two volcanoes in Alaska are about to erupt as well.

Hi Alvin, in the beginning of the 60’s we had a period of huge earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Do you think it’s a cycle or this time it’s different. Everytime I read something about quakes and volcanoes, the last large eruptions or quakes were in the 60’s. I think Chile had it’s biggest quake in the 60’s too.

Thanks and keep up the good work

    • Thanks. I think we are definitely in an 60’s type cycle of geologic catastrophism and this one will likely move the Earth into a new epoch. 25% of the largest earthquakes that have struck the planet in the last 112 years, occurred in the 1960’s and the world’s two strongest earthquakes ever recorded occurred with a 9.5 in Chile in 1960 and a 9.2 in Alaska in 1964. So, yes, your observation is astute and spot on.

        Alvin,
What do you mean a new epoch? Also you mention that this will be similar to the sixties? That’s good news. The world survived the events in the sixties so this time period shouldn’t be any different.

Earth moving towards ruin from stresses in geology, ecology and human population booms

The last 10,000 to 12,000 years of geological history known as the Holocene period comprises man’s ascent through industralization and urbanization but what we are witnessing now is potential plateaus in economic expansion due to debt and an artificially-inflated money supply coupled with the scarity and rising price of fossil fuel production; while population, space for habitation, and food and medicine demands continue to soar. We’re now in a crisis curve where civilization is in danger of unraveling. So, many are calling this period the Anthropocene period – where the Earth is undergoing stresses from both geology and the explosion of humans on its surface. As far as the 1960’s, there are twice as many people living on the planet now as there were when John F. Kennedy was president and the global economic ideology driving the world into increased indebtedness and destitution is fundamentally flawed. The production of more goods doesn’t create more consumers…jobs do.

    Alvin,
I know you probably don’t want to read this comment but i was recommending your site and book to someone on a group called VORTEX on Facebook. One of the members said that after having a look at your book on Lulu he came to the conclusion that he didn’t think highly of your book because your research was either wrong or misrepresented and that the facts you mentioned of the magnetic field faltering, earthquakes increasing, and we are entering a period of extreme vulcanism are all wrong. He had also showed a link that said vulcanism is not increasing and that nothing out of the ordinary is really happening in terms of quakes and vulcanism. I told him that he was wrong and that you got your 571 pages of information from 30 scientists therefore they all couldn’t be wrong. He was still determined that you were wrong on your research. What should i say to him? I told him that you back up everything you say is happening to our planet with Biblical scripture. He said that he is a christian but doesn’t follow christian eschatology. Hmmm…. Anything you could add that might help me try and convince him of what is coming?

    God bless you dear friend,
    Brandon

    • Not at all. The book, as this message, will find the people it needs to find and I don’t lose one wink of sleep over anyone who does not believe it. They neither sustain me, discourage me, or motivate me. God sorts and divines His own will. I appreciate, at heart, what you’re trying to do but you should say, God bless you and move on…
