44 Responses to Indivisible, liberty, justice for All: War on Terror to take terrifying turn on American citizens

I have a couple of comments.

1 ). Congress has access to, and has obviously discussed, ‘classified’ threats to the American public, that we are not made privy to, for security reasons & to avoid further advertising / compromising our vulnerabilities.
The passage of this law, makes me wonder, what ‘threats’ there are, that WE don’t know about or have been made aware of.

2 ). Critics have been warning for years, that such ‘anti-terrorist’ laws & measures, would eventually be twisted inward towards the citizens of the US. That time is now.

This is a bill that flew the senate and passed 93-7!! Then flew thru the house. Obama is speaking out of both sides of his mouth here by saying first he would veto then backing off. This is happening as reports of FEMA camps are opening all over the place. They are connected. Why did it pass sooo quickly? These law makers know something we don’t ? Economic collapse any one? Riots? People being detained and tossed into FEMA camps is what is coming I fear

  3. Serioussneep says:

So we no longer get to vote on laws or bills which dirrectly affect our rights. We are loosing our freedoms everyday and the only thing we can do is vote for a president who will hopefully protect our freedoms only for them to go back in their word. How can we elect an official who protects our interests if they change thier stance once elected, which happens everytime. The hidden truth behind this law is the government sees a major event coming down the road which will cause major uproar in the American people and this law needs to be in place to stop any anti-government protests or riots. How do you keep power? You keep power by ensuring you can stop those who challenge it, which in this case is the American citizen.

“It’s not who’s votes that counts. It’s who counts the votes.” Stalin

The poles show Gingrich is leading the GOP race…does anyone really believe those numbers? I know a good deal of conservative Republicans and NONE of them support Gingrich. The numbers are fixed, the government is “fixed” and certainly the voting is fixed. It is the .01% that control who gets in, what we are shown on television, papers, magazines and where the money and troops go.

    • Valere says:

Does the government doesn’t “see” a major event happening in the future or are they planning on “causing” a major event in the future. I think there is a plan and it has kicked into action.

      • Planning for Ark Storms in California. The Great Shakeout drills by the USGS in California, and Washington, Dirty bomb training scenarios in NY, the Bahamas, disaster scenario drills in Denver, and National Broadcast Signal test nationwide. This was all this year…and that’s what we know about. While the world is calling us idots- looks like someone is busy preparing and covering their bases while the majority of Americans continue to squeeze the remote and dismiss what’s happening to the planet as fear-mongering.

Obama did promise “Change you can believe in” 🙂
Seriously something big is coming and with these new removals of constitutional rights, the ball will really be rolling fast i am thinking.

Add to this the Worldwide Financial meltdown and looting of private personal accounts from the Banksters as well as the War threats we are seeing now from the big guy’s and One has to put two and two together and realize that life as we know it is going to change and hopefully it will be for the better. Some troubling things will happened before it does get better but together with the truth we will change the way we do business on this Earth.

A big thanks to this site to be part of that truth. Much Love

And this is coming from a president who promised to shut down Guantánamo Bay. Conservative, Liberal, Democrat, Republican – they’re all working towards the same goal: Power and control. And those who are fighting for our rights are scoffed at and out-shouted. Scary stuff indeed.

  5. Janet says:

These are scary days for our country as many of the liberties we have taken for granted are slowly being undermined in the name of security. I recently received in the mail, the American Community Survey and was amazed at the invasive and very personal questions which were asked. This survey from the US Census bureau is sent out to approximately 250,000 households per month and is used to determine where tax dollars are spent. The answers to the survey are suppose to be confidential however, it states that the information given can be shared with other governmental agencies. The survey did not just ask for general information such as occupation, age, and income range, it crossed the lines of privacy to ask not only names, dates of birth, and how long each member had lived in the household but If any occupants of my home had lived there less than a year, they wanted to know the previous address. Many of the questions we benign by themselves but when asked occupation, the questionnaire also asked name of company, address, how long employed, how long it took to get there, what time one left in the morning and how many cars were typically in the driveway. In my opinion, there were many other questions that went beyond statistical gathering. It did not ask basic questions as to if I owned or rented, it asked how much my mortgage was, how much I paid for homeowners insurance and property taxes. The survey even requested to know how much I made annually including royalties, alimony and stock dividends. The only agency that should know how much I made annually is the IRS. Did I mention that I was required under penalty of law to complete this survey? Being a law abiding person, I thought long and hard about how to handle this. When I did not complete and submit the survey back to the US Census bureau because felt it violated my rights to privacy, I began receiving phone calls and then the Census bureau, actually sent someone to my home. This along with the article above, makes me feel like our government systematically building a dossier on each and every one of it citizens and I fear how they will use the information they receive. This is the first time in my life that I am afraid of my government!
Years ago, I took my daughter to the Holocaust museum and read a saying by Pastor Martin Niemoller. “First they came for the socialists and I did not speak out because I was not a socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the jews and I did not speak out because I was not a jew
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me”

And go where? Where is there anyplace better or safer for the individual? It might be getting bad here, but it is not as bad as say, Russia, Egypt, Syria maybe. Isn’t it better to stay here and try to make a change?

    • otay1 says:

Serioussneep, all you are required to state are the number of people in your household.

Quote your 5th amendment rights on each question. “I claim my 5th amendment rights* ” with a [*] to reference which question you are referring to (all).
This is (still) on the books as law so you do not have to answer any question beyond the traditional role of a census questionnaire, not your phone #, nothing.

I quoted the 5th (and 4th pertains too although it’s not necessary) on each question and i received no visits or calls (didn’t report phone # either) by a single census worker.

That was the end of it.

  6. Bobi becker says:

Quite a few years ago, my son showed me a video by a rock group, can’t remember which one, of all the sheep, (us), going down the chute. Two of the sheep went over the wall and were shot dead on the other side. Guess this is where we are heading??? Perhaps, however I do believe there will be much more resistance than what they, ( the powers that be), think will happen. It is definitely not going to be a very pretty thing indeed, as I know many will fight back with whatever they have to fight with. Most definitely there is something big happening with them stripping our constitutional rights out from under us just proves that fact. All I can say at this point is, God help us all and thy will be done.

  7. Larry Powell says:

We should all thank the conservatives who were so eager to get the Terrorist Act approved almost 9 years ago. The moral is – be careful what you ask for, and in government it should be – be careful what you enact, you opponent may actually use it in ways you never intended.

  8. bridak says:

Exactly Nickko..I wonder what it is that is so Huge that everyone is willing to forgo the constitution in every level of Government. That however is never ever answered obviously. What is the end goal i wonder? I wish i could be invisible to be able to gather information for a few days..lol

  9. Dennis E. says:

What to do now? What to think? Whose to say who is not a threat and who is not?
If I say I believe in our country’s way of life, does that make me a threat?
This is big trouble because it will get out of hand.

  11. Todd says:

Patriotism is defense of the people against their own government, this law is just the beginning of something much more sinister than rounding up a few ‘suspected’ terrorist. There are DHS leaflets that ask citizens to report suspicious behavior such as buying bulk quantities of food or open and seemingly hostile disagreement with governmental policies. Our government asking its citizens to report these types of behaviors means only one thing, they want to know who is preparing to stand and fight. The Gestapo comes!
My only hope is that the military personnel will disobey orders to round up citizens and force them into FEMA camps.
This could be an eerie prelude to the hunger games

    • Trish says:

Ummm – yepper. I totally agree with you.

    • Rick says:

So what’s next? Closing the “big box” stores like COSTCO and Sam’s Club? Seriously, though, it’s a sad day for America once Obummer signs this law. He specifically asked the wording be changed to INCLUDE U.S. citizens as being affected even though the original bill had them as excluded.
We can only hope that there are some patriotic constitutional oath-keepers deep in the bowels of the Pentagon that will come to our rescue.

  12. pagan66 says:

1.Invoke an internal and external threat
People who are afraid are willing to do things that they wouldn’t otherwise do.
2.Establish secret (unaccountable) prisons where torture takes place
In a secret system, the government does not have to provide any proof of wrongdoing by those it holds, so it can incarcerate anyone it wants.
    3. Develop a paramilitary force
A private military force — under the exclusive direction of the “commander in chief” with no accountability to Congress, the courts, or the public — blurs the line between a civilian police force and a militarized police state.
    4. Surveil ordinary citizens
People who believe they are being watched are less likely to voice opposition. To scare a population into silence, the government need only monitor the activities of a few to make everyone fear that they are being surveilled. Every closed society keeps a “list” of so-called opponents it tracks.
    5. Infiltrate citizen’s groups
Spies in activist groups put psychological pressure on genuine activists by undermining their trust in one another. They may also disrupt legal activities, undermining the effectiveness of group efforts.
    6. Detain and release ordinary citizens
Detention intimidates or psychologically damages those arrested and also lets everyone know that anyone could be labeled an “enemy combatant” and “disappeared.”
    7. Target key individuals
People are less likely to speak out when those who are highly visible, like journalists, scholars, artists, or celebrities, are intimidated or have the livelihoods threatened. Targeting those who are especially visible makes it less likely that people will speak out and robs society of leaders and others who might inspire opposition.
    8. Restrict the press
The public is less likely to fi nd out about government wrongdoing if the government can threaten to prosecute anyone who publishes or broadcasts reports that are critical of the government.
    9. Recast criticism as espionage and dissent as treason
People who protest can be charged with terrorism or treason when laws criminalize or limit free speech rather than protect it.
    10. Subvert the rule of law
The disappearance of checks and balances makes it easier to declare martial law, especially if the judiciary branch continues to exercise authority over individuals but has no authority over the Executive branch.

I am from Europe, work with human rights, and have a friend that owns a radiostation in USA. He let his listeners around in USA check their neighbourhood for claimed FEMA camps. Only TWO could be found, and they were camps from back when asian people were held there, and both buildings were in such a bad shape that it would be foolish to have any human there today. I guess all this are built up to spread fear among people. It is commonly used by dicatators around the world. Fear is the greatest weapon of all. Spread it to Your population and they will follow You as lambs…..

This is troubling news for us that live North of the U.S.A. border, in light of the recent perimeter security deal recently announced between Canada and the US.

The sharing of information gathered on Canadians to be used how?
    To what end?

I am quite curious as to any similar agreement with Mexico, and what this could all mean in the event of crack down on dissident US citizens, and will my country/ Goverment blindly follow in suit.

  16. gilbert1967 says:

    The question is this:
What do the Ruling Classes Know that most of us do not know.
Do they know the time frame?
    1) they do if they start the trouble
    2) something is going to happen and so far only they know.
We need to find out what that is and get the information out as soon as possible………..

  17. Tim says:

On the 220th anniversary of the ratification of the Bill of Rights (Bill Of Rights Day), the U.S. Senate passed the National Defense Authorization Act, and it will be signed quickly by President Obama, who withdrew his veto threat. What people don’t realize is that Obama was going to veto the bill because it would limit his power. Six Democrats, six Republicans and one independent opposed the bill. An interesting number of 7 voted against it.

Carl Levin, the Committee chairman who co-sponsored the bill stated today in Senate debate that it could apply to American citizens.
“The Supreme Court has recently ruled there is no bar to the United States holding one of its own citizens as an enemy combatant,” said Levin. “This is the Supreme Court speaking.“
John McCain, who was the co-sponsor, was questioned by Senator Ron Paul and said that Americans who are suspected of terrorism could be sent to Guantanamo.

  18. Niebo says:

I agree with SeriousSneep and Janet!

Further in the article in the Guardian is a repeat of information that appeared here in a previous post on this matter. Says Rand Paul, “There are laws on the books now that characterise who might be a terrorist: someone missing fingers on their hands is a suspect according to the department of justice. Someone who has guns, someone who has ammunition that is weatherproofed, someone who has more than seven days of food in their house can be considered a potential terrorist.”

I know a handyman who is missing two fingers, and a couple of veterans who are, too. I know some duck hunters who weatherproof their ammunition because they wade and boat through wetlands in the chill of late autumn mornings, when fog is a constant. The people I know who own firearms outnumber the people I know who do not, and the same is probably true for just about anyone who lives in the US. Mormons are required by their religion to stock 60 days worth of food in their pantries, because, early in their history in Utah, they faced a plague of locusts (the Mormon Marching Cricket) that threatened to wipe their crops, and them, from the face of the earth. So a wholesale religious sect, for “religious” reasons, meets present criteria for a terrorist organization, which begs the question: who does NOT meet these criteria?

Just the beginning – Supreme Court of the land says Corporations have a constitutional right.

This has been coming down the tube for years…we knew in the late 80’s that this would occur and everything else that’s happening, it’s not new news guys..just which group, and when and where would it be implemented. Part of what I’m seeing now is that we obviously have pretty much instant access to ANYTHING with the internet..it wasn’t that way before..so things have become much more complicated and there is just so much dis information flying around it’s mind boggling…One has to stay centered and wisely sift through everything and don’t go off half cocked on any of it…I could add a few more practical thoughts on why not to get so excited, but people do love drama and victimization for the most part so I will let it lie…heaven forbid people feel safe and secure and happy and prosper…obviously blasphemy in this day and age…..

Alvin, I have an awful feeling of dread this Christmas – it feels like this is the last time, the definite last of the carefree days – the last Christmas – & that we are now sliding into something unfathomable. Natural changes to our Earth do not frighten me I guess, it’s from Nature I came & to Nature I will return – it’s the other things I know are looming in our future – the man made terrors such as anarchy, war, biological threats & dystopia, the insidious things that steal our way of life & try to destroy our dignity & values. Maybe I’m spooked, I’ve spent the last two days cleaning up hail & water damage after a huge storm & I pray that this is the case.

Anyway, grace & love to you as always & prayers for Christmas

The carefree days are now sinking behind us in the rearview mirror

Well, judging by the amount of fear responses and comments lashing out at recent posts…I would say there is even more fear in the world among those who doubt what is to come. It’s the same news we’ve been talking about for a year on the blog and I’ve been discussing for the last 3 years- now the world is starting to “freak out” as the date approaches despite the fact I said nothing about the world ending in 2012. So it’s something deeply psychological with people that goes beyond a Y2K thing… Nonetheless, I must add, it’s one thing though to be smitten with a fatal disease and know the progressive stages of what you’re afflicted with because at least you have time to seek treatment because you got a prognosis. It’s another entirely to suffer and have no idea why this is happening to you or those around you. The world’s agony…have scoffed at the warnings, will be the unbearable story here. You are awake and that is a blessing. I think we are all feeling the increased tension winding up the world. Hang in there…

Thank you for your kind words and love- it’s appreciated and reciprocated,

This seemingly innocuous bit of news hit me yesterday in a letter from my Hydro company, about an upgrade of my meter to a new ” smart meter ” upon further investigation , I found disturbing information, it is a form of ” Big Brother ” and is currently being installed in homes across the USA, and now in Canada where I live, it is a form of surveillance into the privacy of your home, I have posted a link I encourage all to watch,
I do hope you will post it Alvin, not sure if it belongs here or a post of its own.

  25. Gen says:

The Great Controversy, 1884 edition “The Snares of Satan”

“But our principal concern is to silence this sect of Sabbath-keepers. We must excite popular indignation against them. We will enlist great men and worldly-wise men upon our side, and induce those in authority to carry out our purposes. The Sabbath which I have set up shall be enforced by laws the most severe and exacting. Those who disregard them shall be driven out from the cities and villages, and made to suffer hunger and privation. When once we have the power, we will show what we can do with those who will not swerve from their allegiance to God. We led the Romish Church to inflict imprisonment, torture, and death upon those who refused to yield to her decrees, and now that we are bringing the Protestant churches and the world into harmony with this right arm of our strength, we will finally have a law to exterminate all who will not submit to our authority. When death shall be made the penalty of violating our Sabbath, then many who are now ranked with commandment keepers will come over to our side.”

“Go, make the possessors of lands and money drunk with the cares of this life. Present the world before them in its most attractive light that they may lay up their treasure here, and fix their affections upon earthly things. We must do our utmost to prevent those who labor in God’s cause from obtaining means to use against us. Keep the money in our own ranks. The more means they obtain, the more they will injure our kingdom by taking from us our subjects. Make them care more for money than for the upbuilding of Christ’s kingdom and the spread of the truths we hate, and we need not fear their influence; for we know that every selfish, covetous person will fall under our powers, and will finally be separated from God’s people.”

“Until the great decisive blow shall be struck, our efforts against commandment-keepers must be untiring. We must be present at all their gatherings. In their large meetings, especially, our cause will suffer much, and we must exercise great vigilance, and employ all our seductive arts to prevent souls from hearing the truth and becoming impressed by it.”

    • Niebo says:

Chiling, Gen. Silence is the truest weapon in their arsenal. I was once a member of a “non-denominational” congregation that espoused the “health and wealth” doctrine that blesses greed and makes it godly to be rich, worldly, and aggressive while it denigrates the sick, the meek, the ascetic. When I realized that such attitudes are not Christian, I left. Christ himself would not be welcomed in that place! It is a shame that some choose dogma over doctrine, tradition over Bible, idolatry over truth. Even more shameful are the systemic lies that propagate the teachings from Sunday school through seminary and fill the pulpits with well-meaning liars who observe and teach as they were conditioned by their creed. In effect, the selective readings and interpretations of the scriptures have somehow silenced the Bible and allowed many to tell lies in HIS name.
