Rumblings of the apocalypse: Oklahoma’s bout of extremes dismays residents

November 12, 2011OKLAHOMAAfter one of the strangest local weather days in memory, an Oklahoma woman with a sense of humor asked on Twitter earlier this week: “Wanna experience the apocalypse before it happens? Visit Oklahoma!” She posted that on Monday night shortly after a 4.7-magnitude aftershock earthquake shook the state. The temblor occurred not long after six tornadoes ripped through southwest Oklahoma, which was preceded by flash-flooding in an area that’s been plagued by a historic drought. “Seriously, WHAT’S GOING ON?” someone else tweeted that night. The answers vary. Global warning? Coincidence? Bad luck? Bad timing? End of time? There’s agreement on only one thing: It’s been weird all year. “Even for Oklahoma, this is crazy,” said Rick Smith, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Norman. “Since January, we’ve been setting records. People are just kind of amazed and shocked.” State records set this year have ranged from the lowest temperature (31 degrees below zero in Nowata in northeast Oklahoma) to snowfall in a 24-hour period (27 inches, also in Nowata) to the largest hail stone (a spiky, six-inch piece recovered in Gotebo, in southwest Oklahoma). This year also produced the state’s highest-ever-recorded surface wind speed (151 miles per hour near El Reno, outside of Oklahoma City) and biggest known earthquake (5.6 magnitude, breaking the 1956 record). On Wednesday, Governor Mary Fallin declared a state of emergency for 20 counties because of earthquakes, tornadoes and severe storms. –Reuters

What does this mean in regards to the earth changes Alvin?

    • Just one more example of extremes starting to happen in various places across the globe. Some regions are more impacted than others but we are beginning to see what can happen when earth is facing a full frontal assault from nature. It may be a microcosm of what could potentially take place elsewhere…

Alvin, the report stated that some people think it’s the end of time. Could they be right? A sign the end is near?

      • I think the obvious signs are around us. The greatest danger Christ warned about was the parable of the servant who said “My Lord delayeth his coming” and thus he lost himself in the frivolty of the world. Matthew 24:48 The soul that feels no urgency for the return of Christ will find no urgent impetus to perpare his soul for it. No one can enter the feast without a wedding garment (Matthew 22:11-13). Now is the time to make our calling and election sure and to bleach stains of character with the grace of the blood of the Lamb. Revelation 12:11

    • It is perhaps equally interesting and coincidental that quakes are breaking out along the famed route of the Trail of Tears which relocated thousands of Cherokees

Northern Rome, Ga hit by quake: http://rome.11alive.com/news/news/89836-earthquake-rattles-northwest-georgia-residents

In 1838, the United States government forcibly removed more than 16,000 Cherokee Indian people from their homelands in Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, and Georgia, and sent them to Indian Territory (today known as Oklahoma). The impact to the Cherokee was devastating. Hundreds of Cherokee died during their trip west, and thousands more perished from the consequences of relocation. This tragic chapter in American and Cherokee history became known as the Trail of Tears, and culminated the implementation of the Indian Removal Act of 1830, which mandated the removal of all American Indian tribes east of the Mississippi River to lands in the West. -Global Security

There’s many Cherokee prophecies as I’m sure you know. These two forever stayed with me & I feel them appropriate for our times.

It’s prophesied in our Instructions that the end of the world will be near when the trees start dying from the tops down. That’s what the maples are doing today. Our Instructions say the time will come when there will be no corn, when nothing will grow in the garden, when water will be filthy and unfit to drink. And then a great monster will rise up from the water and destroy mankind. One of the names of that monster is “the sickness that eats you up inside” — like diabetes or cancer or AIDS. Maybe AIDS is the monster. It’s coming. It’s already here.

The prophet Handsome Lake told of it in the 1700s. He saw Four Beings, like four angels, coming from the Four Directions. They told him what would happen, how there would be diseases we’d never heard of before. You will see many tears in this country. Then a great wind will come, a wind that will make a hurricane seem like a whisper. It will cleanse the earth and return it to its original state. That will be the punishment for what we’ve done to the Creation.

Also from Leon Shenandoah, Tadodaho in his 1985 Address to the General Assembly of the United Nations

“The Chiefs of the Haudenosaunee shall be mentors of the people for all time. The thickness of their skins shall be seven spans, which is to say that they shall be proof against anger, offensive action, and criticism. Their hearts shall be full of peace and good will, and their minds full of a yearning for the welfare of the people. With endless patience, they shall carry out their duty. Their firmness shall be tempered with a tenderness for their people. Neither anger nor fury shall find lodging in their minds, and all their words and actions shall be marked by calm deliberation.”

In every nation there are wise and good people. These should be appointed Chiefs. They should be the advisors of their people and work for the good of all the people., and their power comes from the “Great Peace.” A chief must never forget the Creator of mankind, never forget to ask the Creator for help. The Creator will guide our thoughts and strengthen us as we work to be faithful to our sacred trust and restore harmony among all peoples, all living creatures, and Mother Earth.

We were instructed to carry a love for one another and to show a great respect for all the beings of this earth… In our ways spiritual consciousness is the highest form of politics. When people cease to respect and express gratitude for these many things, then all life will be destroyed, and human life on this planet will come to an end.

These are our times and responsibilities. Every human being has a sacred duty to protect the welfare of our Mother Earth, from whom all life comes. In order to do this we must recognize the enemy — the one within us. We must begin with ourselves.

We must live in harmony with the Natural World and recognize that excessive exploitation can only lead to our own destruction. We cannot trade the welfare of our future generations for profit now. We must abide by the Natural Law or be victims of its ultimate reality.

We must stand together, the four sacred colors of humans, as the one family we are, in the interest of peace.

We must abolish nuclear and conventional weapons of war.

When warriors are leaders, then you will have war. We must raise leaders of peace.

We must unite the religions of the world as the spiritual force strong enough to prevail in peace.

It is no longer good enough to cry, “Peace.” We must act peace, live peace, and march in peace in alliance with the people of the world.

We are the spiritual energy that is thousands times stronger than nuclear energy. Our energy in the combined will of all people with the spirit of the Natural World, to be of one body, one heart and one mind for peace.

        Blessings

Thank you all for sharing this information. I have studied the Trail of Tears for many years and often bring it up in conversation with others. It is unfortunate that schools do not focus much on this dark chapter of American history. I had an ancestor on the Trail. She was 6 years old, fell sick during the trip, but was luckily taken in by a good Christian family. The Trail gave me life, but took the lives of so many innocents. However, I would choose my own non-existence if I could bring back all those who suffered and died. I am always pleased to read and hear others speak of all matters Native American. We will never learn anything unless with remember the past and try to do better. I do my best (through writing novels) to weave the past into our present and future. What else can one do to try and right the wrongs of the past?

Our earth-connected ancestors, no matter what race (for what is race when we all come from the same source?), understood the dangers of treating the Earth mother abusively. It does seem like we have entered a new phase where she will shake us off like the fleas we have become. It is not so much vengeful prophecy as it is common sense against human arrogance. It is strange to wish for the “reset” button while still clinging to instinctual self-and-tribal-survival.

Thank you for this website Alvin. And, peace and love to you, your commentators, and all living creatures on this planet.

OH, THEN they listened.. then it was too late… I guess it’s as in Noah’s day, I’ll never stop telling people we are living in the last days as Jesus commanded us to do and people will not listen just as in Noahs day but I’m doing this because I’m commanded to and I want to. I study bible prophecy as a laywoman as I study all kinds of prophecies from all different cultures. Throughout most, if not all of them is the same concurrent running theme. Many of these prophecies & cultures are older than the Bible – so I believe that all wisdom is from the One as all Gods are One & there is only one Creator but with many faces & many names. It is up to the individual to find the Truth, Peace & the Light.

I completely agree with you Pagan.

I also feel our biggest challenge (besides the earth changes we are experiencing) is to come together regardless of our varying spiritual beliefs. If we can overcome labeling each other, seeking revenge for past wrongs, and realize we all come from the same source, then we may have accomplished a wish of our Creator. We are capable of so much more as humans, capable of love and peace. However, our world has tasked us against so many who solely seek the pleasures of earthly existence while they ignore our greatest gift – our spiritual nature. I personally have been to the depths of materialism and earthly pleasures only to ignore the aching in my soul for many years. I have now returned to the spiritual side and hope to keep learning and experiencing more about myself and others. Everyone will choose the path they wish. Hopefully, we will end up with a world of peace and love, where compassion rules the day and the night.

Why is Oklahoma being the State specifically on the receiving end of these disasters? Have they allowed themselves to be cursed? Any specific person from there, or have they passed any laws recently which are contrary to God? If the Lord is judging the world at this time, then why are certain places being pinpointed more than others?

We know that God will judge the church first before HE judges the world, and hasn’t HE done that already? Without mentioning any names, we have seen church leaders exposed for their sins over the past decade, so maybe now is the time for the world to be judged…

Tornadoes that ravaged Missouri and Arkansas. Earthquake in Virginia. Alaska JUST had their own ‘perfect storm’. so no, this is not just Oklahoma. It’s actually the entire world.

I know what you mean Barbara – it’s the same where I live also. I can feel it in truth, not just see the changes around me. Before there was such a positivity about Nature here, but She is suffering & for those of us in tune & unable to mend against these odds or to find the old balance in a once Divine place, it is heartbreaking. I have a favourite tree, close to what is an ancient enchanted waterhole high up in the Ranges, that I have dreamed under – it always brought me serenity to do so, but it is dying too – just like your trees, & my waterhole which I swam in & which I believe healed me in so many different ways is now drying up & brackish. Things are so out of balance. We don’t have much time left.

There was so much wisdom to be learned from the indigenous peoples of this Earth, yet many of our forebears were ignorant of this. I both respect & admire the North American tribes, as I do our Australian aboriginals. They are so similar in fact, for over 60,000 years they have maintained through rock paintings & oral traditions that they are not owners of this land but Guardians. That what you take, you must give thanks for & return in kind. That you must have respect for all things upon this Earth, that without balance & harmony with Nature you have nothing. That the bounties She gives, She can also take away. Such a simple yet sacred Belief but so hard for Man to comprehend. It took the white man just over 200 years to destroy their world & to ridicule & debase their traditions. May the Great Mother forgive them.

Post a picture – next time I trek up into the Ranges I will take a photo & show you what I too have lost.

They sing and worship leave and go out to dinner, maybe do a little shopping then come home, and the Lord is put away until next Sunday.Somebody help me but you are not suppose to buy nor sell on a Sunday, that is in the Bible, but Wal-Mart was the first to open their doors years ago. That scripture is in the Bible I will find it and post if someone else doesn’t find it first. And who says you have to leave your home and spend “gas” to go to a big fancy church to worship, the phrase is “When two or three are gathered in my name I am in the mist or middle”( or something like that) something else to look up. You know what happens when a bunch of people gather together to worship? They want to start “raising money”. For the lust of money is the root of “ALL” evil. Lets drag that old devil right on in!!!!!!!! The Churches if nothing else have seperated you away from God, stay at home, DAILY WORSHIP WITH YOUR FA MILY, MAKE IT A ” E V E R Y D A Y” WORSHIP WITH GOD!!!! Massive people havew been programed to think that the only time you can pray an worship is when you go to church and if you do not believe that this is true ask your children this simple question. When are we suppose to pray? And if they answer “When we go to Church” Let them know there God will hear them “ALL THE TIME AND ANY TIME OF THE DAY AND NIGHT” and close that gap.

well take it from someone who lives about 30 min from the epicenter of the recent quakes, this is far from over and i can just feel it! the night of the 5.6 we def felt it and we are roughly 30-40 miles from the epicenter. had us shook up a bit but nonetheless nothing i didnt expect to be totally honest. the only thing that surprised me was the fact that i called the wrong fault line that was the culprit in producing this state shaking quake. matter of fact, once i finally got the correct name of the fault line, i was dumbfounded. never heard of that fault line and i had actually went on my own geological survey of my home state just months before. in my quest for info on local fault lines i got the following….
    ALT altus fault
    BCC blue creek canyon fault
    BRC burch fault
    CMT cement fault
    CKS chickasha fault
    CTW choctaw fault
    COF central oklahoma fault zone

    WVF washita valley fault
    WMF waurika-muenster fault
    WSF windingstair fault
and this is just to name off a few of the main faults we have here in the heartland. but the faultline i called was the seminole structure which is called by some by its more ancient name, the wilzetta fault or something like that. now i live in seminole county oklahoma right on this particular fault, which i will refer to as the seminole structure. this fault line is capable of producing up to a 6.0+. glad to see more people taking intrest in this because i will be honest, this is most ultimately intriguing in terms of being seismically sound in whats caused this quake to happen. come join us on facebook and search groups for Info Swap and add me and ask to join. we are making history the news before its news. god bless and peace.

      • Most won’t wake up. We have to open our hearts and minds to why we’re here on this Earth, in this time, as this crisis is going back to how it started. “And there was war in heaven…” Revelation 12:7…

While some are waking up…many more are hardening their hearts, doubting the warnings, sequestering wealth, or having given themselves wholly over to vice and immorality – they will become part of the collapse. We can and should do our part to send light and love to others but this world, as a whole, is beyond saving or salvaging.

Here in Australia we’ve just started to be taxed on our carbon emissions – per capita 1.32% is a pretty awful figure seeing our complete population is around the 22 million mark – a 10th of some of those countries in that top 20 list. After the QLD floods – we also were slugged with a “flood tax” – our newly elected Labor Government galvanized itself into a course of action worthy of any circus of superheroes, citing our carbon footprint as the direct cause of those floods & mega cyclones & bushfires. Too late by far & mostly incorrect but our Government, as many other governments worldwide has it’s head in the proverbial sand regarding Earth changes anyway – they just wanted to overhaul the whole tax system whilst ignoring or pretending to ignore the reality of what really is happening to our planet.

But this insatiable greed & consumption of resources needs to be reduced & we do need to stop poisoning this planet immediately. Time is running out.

Thanks for replying Justsayin (okay America is the 2nd largest producer of CO2 emmisions globally speaking). China is a dirty place, the workhouse of the world – its population is over one and a half billion and not considered a first world country as USA is. But your missing the point, USA is not first in line to experience climate change but the last to be hit (guarrantee it will get far worse). We lost our ozone protection well over two decades ago down this way, our tree’s foliage gets burned every summer and we have weather extremes constantly. Apart from earthquakes, tsunamis and other assorted acts of nature we are a clean, green environment and DO look in our own backyard constantly. We have banned nuclear weapons and nuclear powered vessels from our habours and work toward sustainability as a daily experience. Face it Justsayin, USA is paying the price for overconsumption – the forces of nature are delivering the message to you, don’t take offence, just wake up to the obvious………

Our church sends money and people to Thialand to help rescue men women and children from slave labor ,sexual and other wise.Their country has rampant corruption that makes it difficult prosecute .They do it to their own people as well as the migrant workers from even poorer nations.EVERY country on earth has its own set of offenses.I personally don’t have a friend that isn’t involved in some kind of mission work or community service here and or abroad.I include my family as well.
There is alot wrong with our country but within it there are also wonderful people and if I listed all the charitable organizations that offer worldwide relief,it would crash this site. Many Americans risk their lives doing that very work..America sends more food and relief workers and charity beyond our borders than any other nation in the world. I wish people would also remeber these things as well.Blessings,R

Radiogirl – Most developed countries pledge a certain amount of their GDP toward foreign aid as most developed countries send relief workers into disadvantaged & often dangerous situations in countries plagued by war, disasters, child slavery & poverty. Much of this aid is also private as in donations from a country’s citizens – I myself sponsor a child near the Thai – Burma border & another in Africa. It is not a contest but a necessary humanitarian endeavour & nobody is disputing that the US has & continues to contribute much needed aid, but you will be surprised to learn that the US is not the biggest contributer at all.

  21. Whats that other verse, There will be Gnashing of teeth, is that what you can call putting the blame on anybody and everybody else??? We’re ALL in this boat together, one big round EARTH boat, if it was going to be saved, it would say so in the Bible, but it doesn’t say that now does it. It says that man will destroy himself. So everybody need stop blaming each other, start reading their Bible and see what part “YOUR” role is in the end. Beyond a shadow of a doubt in my mind “WE” are the generation that shall not perish before the Lord returns. May he guide us until then Teresa

Realistically people just want to keep doing what they are doing. Easy to say clean it up, most just don’t care speaking personally of those I know. Of course a few do but tell me have you ever asked a grown man to stop using his car and maybe try different transportation they look at you like you grew a third head. Most people will never wake up even when it smacks them in the face. You can write a book about it, an article, do a tv show, try everything to inform them. They read it and go on and go get in their car. Most people I know never look at the consequences of their actions let alone what they are doing to the planet. When I was in college there was a trash can that was not even overflowing yet there was garabage all around it on the ground. I went and cleaned it up but how many passed or sat on the benches nearby and it never crossed their mind to clean it up? Too Many!

Thank you Racheal for your honesty, I agree, people do not care enough about their envirnoment to keep it clean – whether its rubbish, driving cars or other forms of pollution we have become desensitised to our biolological world AND our spiritual environment. Over consumption is merely an outcome of this process – we treat our bodies like garbage cans and fill it full of junk food and toxins, we treat our environment like an outdoor garbage disposal unit reasulting in toxic overload with the result that our global environment goes to pieces melting ice caps, shifting tetonic plates and creating wheather patterns from Hell, to be expected really …….
The fact is Racheal, America has systematically poisoned its environment locally and internationally with pollution (refer carbon emmissions, CFC’s and other assorted toxins) and is now reaping what it has sown, the more it pollutes the worst it gets – simple maths eh?
Oklahoma is your thermometer of health and at the moment the United States is running one heck of a temperature (this includes the rest of the world) – unfortunately you’ve got to crash before you get better to get over the illness and this translates to the end of the empire we know as USA, sad but true. After the world has convulsed and cleaned itself of the plague that is humanity the few who remain will start again but not in the form as we know it, I don’t any of us can imagine what form that will take but I’m hoping its in Gods image.
My thoughts are that humanity will start again from the Southern Hemisphere (We refer to New Zealand as the Ark) because we are so isolated from the rest of the world – I believe that the Northern Hemisphere will be toxic for a thousand years to come and will be a hellish place to survive, you would be unlucky to live through what is to come.
Its time for America to wake up to the truth – you did it to yourself, nobody pushed you. When you own this truth THEN God becomes real and loves you unconditional, no judgement, no blame.

      Ynot –
I have read that China is in the process, of committing environmental depredation, that is as bad (if maybe not worse) than anything the US has done.
Unfortunately, they do not seem to have learned from our mistakes, but are following in our footsteps. 😦

Considering the size of their country, this does not bode well.
Can you imagine, if China had a ‘per capita’ consumption rate, comparable to the US ??
