Magma Plume: Mauna Kea shaken by large swarm of earthquakes
This entry was posted in Earth Changes, Earth Watch, Earthquake Omens?, High-risk potential hazard zone, Potential Earthchange hotspot, Signs of Magnetic Field weakening, Volcano Watch. Bookmark the permalink.
Is it just me or is it laughable the whole “weight” thing?? I mean how “heavy” is Yellowstone, or Rainer?? Sometimes human “logic” is so obviously lacking any sense its ridiculous! Colorado is a mile high full of mountains, pretty heavy, no swarms there. Oregon…same thing only the whole state isn’t high in altitude. And Alaska?? Hello?? How God made the earth is quite capable of having weight…how He moves the earth? Mayhap there is something to that…hmmmm…nahhh…we human have the dibs on knowledge right?

I’m Afraid to say that “Magma plume thermal kineticism is a sign the Earth is now moving towards the spectrum of catastrophic geological upheavel- a epochal shift that will have profound implications for all life forms on the planet” is 100% Acurate and true, i suggest anyone on any coastlines start to move inland, i’m seeing more and more Quakes coming up Daily Especially the one in Adelaide this morning… Being on a cost line is not the best chance at Surviving the coming Cataclysm,,,

Alvin – I just have to say…No one likes to hear the reality of the changes earth is headed toward…it is unfathomable to think of and not comforting what so ever when one can’t control it. But honestly -I see it every day..petty perspectives people have…people not influenced by a larger global perspective in which they live and base their decisions. Most live like “the child in the family that only learns the hard way”. Something catastrophic has to happen to one personally in order to make big changes. It just is that way. People say they are scared…but do they make any big changes in their life? How scared do we have to be to do this? Ultimately..we are talking about living and dying… regardless of a small event that kills us..(and I think of the Argentina woman who got killed back in September who was struck by a “fire ball from the sky”)or if we live in an area when a catastrophic event kills us or our loved ones. This thought leaves only two questions…how am I today, in the present moment with myself and my relationships?.. and.. How am I making changes in my everyday global-community life based on what I know…what I read…what I am aware of? Questions I am still on a journey with…
Alvin- I extremely appreciate this sight and your awareness…it makes me a better person everyday…no fear.

Well, there is one of my earlier rotating plots of Hawaiian seismic activity from 2000 to 2010.
If you keep an eye on the area North and West of Kilauea, you will note a rather diffuse cluster at about 10 km. This seems to be about standard for the rest of the active areas around the plume head.
As noted elsewhere, these quake really aren’t out of the ordinary for this area.
Until there is more activity pointing at rising magma, this is more like a settling event. As the crust moves to the NW across the hotspot, the area begins to cool and contract. This induces stress and causes fractures. Eventually the islands subside, riding this cooling and contracting crust. At times, parts of them fall off in mass wasting events. (Tuscaloosa seamount up next to Oahu, part of the Nuuanu slide). From the depth and orientation of these quakes, this doesn’t seem to be that either. Maybe in a few million years, but not anytime soon.

I’m not sure why you would rub people the wrong way by posting these articles. Personally, I enjoy reading them so I know what is happening geologically. I also like knowing if these happenings are something we need to be concerned about or if it’s just information to file away for future use.
Don’t let the nay-sayers get to you, which I know you won’t. I’ve been watching the activity on Hawaii. Just keep these articles coming.
By the way, what do you know about the activity that is going on around Pueto Rico?

That was not me…that was the author of the Wire article saying that people was rubbed the wrong way, Irene. Anything that has potential ramifications of bursting the comfy bubble people have encapsulated themselves in in regard to their own reality- they start whining. Me, I’m oblivious to what people think about what I do…

Alvin, when you write something like this:
Magma plume thermal kineticism is a sign the Earth is now moving towards the spectrum of catastrophic geological upheaval- an epochal shift that will have profound implications for all life forms on the planet.
What’s the timeline, is it a matter of years, months, weeks.
Thanks

It could be months, or it could be only a year or two but it is happening faster than anyone anticipated. I feel we are on the periphery of a full-blown crisis and we’re seeing an extraordinary amount of seismic activity and volcanism happening at nearly all of the planet’s magma plumes almost simultaneously. To my knowledge, this degree of activity is unprecedented in recorded history. Add to that, seismic swarms in California, on the German-Czech border, in Southern Greece and the potential reactivation of (according to geologists) one million year-old super-volcanic fields in South America, and it doesn’t take much more rationalization to come to the conclusion that something profound is happening to the planet. Maybe the essence of the Mayan calendar wasn’t pointing to an event happening in space but a reality of a change to Earth marked by alignments in the heavens. I think the world has long believed, naysayers included, if anything of such a magnitude happened to the planet- it would take a protracted period of time to unfold but catastrophism, by its very character, lends credence to the concept that it is both an unpredictable and non-quantitative force of nature. Suffice it to say, I think this is going to take the vast majority of people on the planet by complete surprise.
Take care,
Alvin

Yes it will Alvin and not the kind of surprise any of us like. It seems most people believe if they don’t acknowledge what is happening, they won’t have to deal with any of it. Keeping up with all this is very time-consuming and people are so busy with life they choose to avoid the subject.
We are seen a fear mongers or depressed. As I have told some, I’m not depressed, but I do choose to be informed. To me, this site is a lifeline of knowledge about changes on Earth (as well as in our solar system) that can’t be found anywhere else that I know of. I tell many people about it.
Thanks again to you Alvin and all the others that offer a vast amount of knowledge. May the Lord continue to grant wisdom and the means to share information from around the World.

Howdy Folks:
The only people who get rubbed the wrong way about news of earthquake swarms neath a volcano are those folks stupid enough to still live near one. Usually they do a lot of wishful thinking, making affirmations like the “Little Engine That Could”, and wishing the thing to never blow. Guess the folks at Pompeii and Herculaneum did the same thing.

Bonjour,

In the year 2005:
SEBASTIAN MUNN, THOMAS r. WALTER & ANDREAS KLUGEL of the Institute of marine sciences of Leibniz, IFM-GEOMAR, Kiel, Germany and the University of Bremen, Germany
They published an article on the GRAVITATIONAL instability on the island of El Hierro and four experimental models of development.
I quote only the conclusions:
”
The structural evolution of El Hierro has been strongly
controlled by the formation of volcanic Rift zones. the
distribution of pyroclastic cones, the orientation of
dams on the island, and the morphology of the flank at sea
they reflect a system’s break with a triangular geometry in its
central part and divergence in the area of the Rift, a continuation in the
the West and Northeast submarine flanks. This study
He suggested that the configuration of the Rift is controlled by the dissemination of gravity
the overlap of volcanic edifices consecutively.
Similar experiments with sand
We have reproduced both the formation of subaerial area and the area
underwater in their geometry. In addition, the
experiments showed that during the diffusion process
they have the flanks without stress of El Hierro
stabilized by the radial spread, while the flanks
surrounded by areas of rift maintains its potential for
collapse in the form of giant landslides.

These islands are composed of a structurally deficient rock that has a history of collapsing. This was recently released by the Geographical Society of CI and it shows some of weak zones across the island when you hit the play button. It stands to reason that El Hierro shows a tendency to disintegrate in places if there was a strong enough force ripping through the island. Look at where the craters and quakes are happening along the fracture zones. Especially the whole southern flank of El Julan…

Latest from Earth Quake Report. Note the very optimistic view of the mayor of El Pinar:
http://earthquake-report.com/2011/09/25/el-hierro-canary-islands-spain-volcanic-risk-alert-increased-to-yellow/
“Update 21/10 – 10:03 UTC: The acid rich green seawater has reached the western part of the island (Frontera side). This is really bad news for the people living there as the experience of La Restinga learned us that a lot of fish did not survive these waters. Hopefully the acidity will have been diluted a bit since the last 24 to 48 hours.”
“Update 21/10 – 09:42 UTC – overview of the last 10 hours:
– harmonic tremors activity similar than yesterday.
– after the updates of the IGN data we noticed 22 volcanic earthquakes yesterday. The focal depth was in between 11 to 26 km.
– since midnight UTC today, 6 volcanic earthquakes have been recorded by IGN. Focal depth in between 11.8 and 22.3 km.
– we are mentioning these earthquake parameters because they are of high importance to predict eventual activity. If earthquakes are getting more powerful the risk on landslides increases (like people of Frontera experienced) and if they are getting shallower (in between 0 and 5 km) magma may have found a way up the seabed / island (higher degree of alert can be expected soon).”
“Update 20/10 – 23:46 UTC – afternoon and evening overview:
– The La Restinga people will finally be allowed to return to their village indefinitely from tomorrow on as the volcanic activity has been decreased a lot
– The Red alert level 1 will be maintained for La Restinga for the time being
– Biologists are fearing the the marine system may need more than 1 year to recover
– The submarine GPS controlled robot has start his work today. The robot will sample and analyze water quality and has an autonomy of 4 to 6 months.
– The mayor of El Pinar said that the volcano is almost dead!
– At Earthquake-Report.com we do not share the “almost dormant again” stories told by the mayor and the president of El Hierro. We agree that the activity has subsided but the harmonic tremors have not yet ended and we notice even more volcanic earthquakes than the last 10 days (19 earthquakes during the last 24 hours)”
