Under the skies of a fickle Sun- change is the only constant

October 11, 2011More turbulence ahead? The farside region of the Sun where a monstrous explosion occurred is rotating Earthward. We’ve also noticed sunspot clusters have also formed in larger patches on the Sun over the last few weeks. Growing sunspot 1313 is crackling with C-class solar flares. A solar wind stream flowing from the indicated coronal hole should reach Earth on Oct. 15th. – Space Weather

The sun really is acting up lately, making me wonder when we’re actually going to get hit by one of the big CMEs like the one that erupted on October 4th.

Thanks a lot for all the information Alvin, been following the site for a while now.

    Peace be with all,
    Chris

Do the Domestic/International airline companies have any safety or no-fly protocols in place regarding large, direct CME strikes on their planes. It mystifies me that all sensistive electrical components are ‘fried’ in such an event and they know now, when and where they will occur with a good degree of accuracy. Dont think a ticket on Air Force One would be cheap.

Reported today, October 12, 2011, although it was found in September, from the European Space Agency-I found this article about a near earth object 2011 SF108 that poses a threat to earth. Is there any other information out there?
