Anak Krakatau raised to highest per eruption alert status- quakes are now continous, warn officials

October 2, 2011 – INDONESIA – Indonesian officials have raised the status of one of its most dangerous volcanoes, Anak Krakatau, to a “standby” or level 3 (orange)- the highest level prior to an eruption (level 4) red. The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), Surono said this is a rise in status that was set on Friday, September 30, 2011 evening at 24.00.  The reason for the elevated status is because of the high-intensity level of earthquakes. Today, for example. “On October 2, 2011, at 00.00 until 12.00, there are 2745 recorded seismic events,” said Surono, when he was contacted by VIVAnews.com, Sunday, October 2, 2011.  Earthquakes under Mount Anak Krakatau, Surono added, were even felt all along the island of Anak Krakatau. “The swarm of tremors are continuous and although small, 2 on the Richter scale, they are cause for concern because they are felt constantly,” he added.  He explained, almost since 2007, Krakatau has been stirred by unrest. “In a moment, it stopped, and erupted in 2009. I think this mountain is always in danger of erupting,” he added. –Viva News (translated)

      Here’s the background history. The 1883 eruption of its father, Krakatau in the Sunda Strait, created the loudest noise ever heard on Earth and killed 36,000 people. The sound was heard over 4,080 km away and two-thirds of the island itself, some 12 square-miles, were disintegrated in the blast. Anak Krakatau, the child of Krakatau, is the fastest growing volcano on the planet- increasing in height by about 5 meters a year. The 1883 eruption of its father is considered one of the worst volcanic eruptions in history. The Sunda Strait is seismically and tectonically active and marks a transition zone between the Sumatra and Java fault zones which are both associated with subduction of the Indo-Australian Plate under the South East Asian Plate upon which Anak Krakatau is located. Krakatau is an unusual stratovolcano which appears to cycle through basaltic, basic andesitic, acidic andesitic and dacitic phases. Each of these cycles is thought to culminate in a massive destructive dacitic eruption before the cycle recommences at the basaltic stage. The volcano is mercurial and history suggests it is prone to very violent fits of rage. With the increasing amount of seismic and volcanic activity in Indonesia- it represents a very serious hazard zone.

    I’ve had a lot of dreams on world events, some of them coming true (feel free to see the site I’m currently working where I decided to post this too). But a few years ago, Krakatoa was something that kept coming up in the conscious mind while actually awake, until finally one day I stopped to ask question what the significance of it might be. Once I acknowledged the possibility of a large eruption sometime in the future, it stopped coming up. Therefore, it is not really all that surprising now to see Krakatoa becoming more active, especially given all of the volcanic activity on the uptick of late.

    Back in 2003 I had casually been studying remote viewing for a couple of years. One day while reading quietly alone in the public library, my attention went to a guy reading a book around 30-40 feet away over 90 degrees to my right. While not turning to check, for whatever reason I thought to myself “I wonder what he’s reading… let me try to focus in on it more closely”. A phrase came almost instantaneously, clearly saying:”volcanoes”. After I was done reading my book, I got up to leave and went to the exact area this person was standing just to check. I looked on the shelf and saw a couple of loose books sitting flat on the other. The one I picked up said on the cover “super-volcanoes and earthquakes”. After Googling, I then discovered the nature of Yellowstone for the first time and other calderas like it. Interestingly, I chanced upon a page, rather randomly that same night, that a man created about Yellowstone. At the end he suggested that psychics might ought to join forces and concentrate on Yellowstone and other super-volcanoes potentially becoming more active in the future.

    Not long ago, in the mid to late spring, I set about to do some automatic writing on the topic of earthquakes and volcanoes. The results I came up with seemed to indicate a sharp increase in magma flow around the world. I am of the thinking, like probably most here, this will only increase in the future.

        Clare – Why do you think spirit/automatic writing is such a dangerous realm? As long as it is practised under certain protocols within safe degrees by somebody advanced & strong enough to channel, it is no more dangerous than reading tarot, scrying or casting runes. My instincts tell me John is able to control any flow of information these sessions may divulge to him.

        Pagan I believe spirit writing and tarot cards and all other forms of attempting to contact the spirit realm are dangerous. We are told to avoid all pagan forms of worship and their ‘doings’. Personally I want my relationship to be with Jesus, and through Jesus – with Father God, not with evil spirits and demons. When you open yourslef up to the spirit realm, you will never be sure which spirits you are working with.

    Thank you for the video link Alvin.

    I knew it wouldn’t be long before the alert status of Anak Krakatau would be raised. When Krakatau exploded, more people were killed by the pyroclastic flow and the tsunami. Between Anak Krakatau and Mount Tambora, that is getting to be a very dangerous area. I just pray the child doesn’t have the violent temper of the father.

    I do have one question that I didn’t find the answer to. What is the difference in actual height between Anak Krakatau and Krakatau?

      If one values human life, even one life lost is a tragedy. The volcano in the Canary Islands is on a status that gov’t officials are relocating entire populations of threatened villages.

    On the subject of earthquakes in general, I have followed seismic activity on the USGS site for several years and I can remember when an average day contained a few specs (very mild tremors) in the California area. I have family there so I would always watch to see what was happening there. Now when I look at the USGS site, it looks like the whole California/Nevada area just trembles all the time. Dozens and dozens of tremors everyday. Also there seems to be more and more activity in the Washington and Oregon areas. Am I imagining things or has it really increased as much as it seems?

    I sometimes check the thumbnail seismograms of Yellowstone. On Sept. 23rd there was a large uptick on Norris Junction.

    The activity dropped suddenly on September 30th. Is it pressure building up or realeasing? With the activity all around the Ring of Fire, should we be keeping Yellowstone in mind?

    Is there someone with knowledge or insights on the Sunspot activity and earthquake/volcano activity? I’ve heard years ago someone saying that whenever solar storms are heading there way to Earth, this causes reactions in the Earth magnetic fields, resulting in increased seismic activity in the weeks thereafter. But I don’t know where to look to check this. The sun is pretty active right now, so I start wondering about this connection.

    I’ve read that Anak Krakatatau mountain has already started to slip on the West bank. That would indicate that if it erupts, the West side of the mountain may well slip into the sea causing a massive tidal wave affecting the East coast of America.

    During this time of world economic and social turmoil, Singapore is an oasis of peace and stability, save for the periodic inconvenient flooding.

    However, when Anak erupts, how do you think it will affect this some 700 sq km island nation about 800km to its north, but fortunately blocked from it by the land mass of southern Sumatera, as well as the Belitung and Riau islands?

    Also, how do you think Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital, only slightly more than 100km inland, would be affected?

      It appears Anak is simmering and building for a cresendo…with accute eruptions along the way as the volcano is the fastest growing on the planet and eruptions are justing increasing height and dangers. Its fate may be tied to its father in 1883.
