Last piece of the puzzle, part 2: Earth catastrophism, El Hierro, cosmic rays and the planet Mercury

33 year window of geological catastrophism (1783-1816): We’re back to another period of catastrophism similarly to what occurred on the planet 228 years ago. This period began with the most deadly eruption in modern history- the Laki volcanic fissure eruptions in Iceland. The 1783-1784 eruptions killed an estimated 6 to 7 million people across the globe from its volcanic fallout. Iceland sits over a magma plume. In 1793, El Hierro, which similarly sits over a magma plume, erupted as did the Unsen volcano in Japan which resulted in an landslide and tsunami which killed 15,000 people. 23 years later, Tambora erupted in Indonesia and killed 92,000. Clearly, these periods of hyper-volcanism means volcanoes can be stirred across the planet in concert with earthquakes. Large destructive earthquakes accompanied the volcanism during this turbulent 33 year period. The 1797 Riobamba 8.3 earthquake in Ecuador killed 41,000. A 8.4 earthquakes struck Sumatra, Indonesia the same year. In 1802, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck Romania, and in 1810, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck Crete and killed 2000 people. Between 1811-1812, a 8.1, 7.8, and a 8.0 magnitude earthquake all struck the New Madrid fault zone in the U.S. and in 1812, Santa Barbara and Wrightwood, California were both hit by 7.0 magnitude earthquakes. Perhaps equally intriguing, this 33-year window period almost coincides exactly with the Dalton Minimum (below) of low solar activity proving that it is not the Sun that is exciting these earthchanges but it is the cosmic radiation (cosmic rays) that seeps into interplanetary space when the Sun is quiescent as I stated in my book. NASA’s latest findings from the planet Mercury (September 30, 2011)
The book validated by latest research: “Since the planet’s main heating source is radioactive decay; could incoming cosmic rays be the catalyst accelerating the decay process and thereby increasing the planet’s interior temperatures? The effects would be visible in increased ocean temperatures and thus a more erratic climate system, increasing volcanism, seismic activity and the venting or depressurization of magma, liquid and gaseous hydrocarbon reservoirs (oil seepage and methane explosions), this is all part of what’s known as the geo-nuclear climate theory.” –The Extinction Protocol, page 208
Schematic illustration of MESSENGER’s Gamma-Ray Spectrometer (GRS) Sept 30, 2011: “Galactic cosmic rays interact with the surface of Mercury to a depth of tens of centimeters, producing high-energy (“fast”) neutrons. These neutrons further interact with surface material, resulting in the emission of gamma rays with energies characteristic of the emitting elements and low-energy (“slow”) neutrons. Naturally occurring radioactive elements such as potassium (K), thorium (Th), and uranium (U) also emit gamma rays. Detection of the gamma rays and neutrons by GRS allows determination of the chemical composition of the surface.” 1
Magnetic pole-shift, cosmic rays and volcanism: Another paper found that the vast flat plains on Mercury were not caused by eruptions from volcanoes but were fashioned from large amounts of lava that seeped up from cracks in the ground and flooded the surface. The scorching-hot lava also carved teardrop-shaped islands into the surface, which are visible near the edges of these plains. Mercury is “essentially wallpapered by huge volumes of lava,” said James Head, a planetary geoscientist at Brown University and lead author of that study. “Volcanism is important because it represents the pulse of the planets,” he added. “It’s like the blood of the interior: Is it not doing much inside, or is it really active?” Researchers also discovered that the planet’s magnetic field is shifted about 300 miles north from the equator. This could mean there are strange, lopsided internal dynamics occurring in the churning liquid metal in the core. “There’s something very intriguing going on with that that we don’t understand yet,” said study lead author Brian Anderson, a space physicist at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. –LA Times  September 30, 2011

Just one question: how can we know the magnitude of earthquakes which occurred two centuries ago?

From what I have read the sea floor is expanding, rapidily, the mass of the planet is not increasing. this would imply the earth, on it’s axis is compressing. Th sun solar storms must be influncing this compression, enhanched magnetism is over powering the balanced magnetism of the planet and affecting its internal mass distribution which is telegraphed to the sutface in and around the equator in increased seismic activity.

I think we should pay attention this. recent postings of loud sonic boom like noices, land slippages and etc………… indicates something is moving underground and what we see on mercury, could be a picture of what will happen on this planet in certain areas. I know that there are certain places on earth that has a continous flow, but I am speaking regarding the evacuation of cities/populations, a planetary crisis.

    Something to ponder

You can go to the USGS website and set an auto alert for seismic activity anywhere globally, using a variety of parameters like location specific, magnitude level, tsunami warning…all sent to your email address. My alerts are 5.0+ worldwide, 4.0+ mag @ the Yellowstone Caldera and New Madrid Fault Zone. 6.0+ S.California and East Mediterranean including from Turkey south to Sinai inland to Jordan/Syria/Iraq.

Interesting stuff. I read about the planet Mercury in the news, yesterday.

However, I didn’t read anything about Mercury having a Magnetic field that is ‘off-kilter’.
I *thought* that it WAS on a north-south orientation, like the Earth’s ?? I guess that is no longer the case.
If that is true, I suppose it is possible, that we are observing Mercury going through a ‘pole reversal’.

Help my understanding. If something similar happened beginning in 1783, could this mean that today’s unusual earth events are merely cyclical?

    • Everything pulses in cycles and based on frequency patterns. The problem is, however; it’s coinciding with the 6th extinction which is now underway according to scientists and worst, we never had 7 billion people inhabitating nearly every inhabitable space left on the planet. Our natural ecology is already stressed by changing climatic conditions and increased food demands and our cure for that is not conservation or integrated natural partnership with the environoment but instead- manipulating the genes of food producers to do more on less.

There’s some kind of cosmic energy still unknown that’s affecting universe. After all, not long ago we didn’t knew about gamma rays, infrared, radioactivity, neutrons, protons, etc. So it’s normal we are still missing some info here. An energy we can’t still analyze. Who are we anyway, we know so little about our universe, we still have a long way to understand it.

I leave you with a couple of passages that amused me from the link that Alvin so kindly provided.

I love this website. I happened to find out it by accident and I am passionately fascinated with all that i am reading. My interest in the universe, science and the changes taking place have increased significantly this past year and of all the site i view on a regular basis, The Extinction Protocal, is one the top!! Thank you for keeping people like me, current on these events. And yes, I agree 100% there is something epic brewing and I suspect we all will know in the very near future what all of the booms, quakes and the other events were signs of. Keep up the awesome work!!!

Magma on the move in El Hierro, Canary Islands
Posted on October 3, 2011 by Jón Frímann
This is happening faster then I expected. But it seems that magma is now on the move upwards in El Hierro volcano in Canary Islands. This is evident by the earthquake patterns that are emerging from the volcano. Given the earthquake locations, most likely place for a eruption to take place is out on the ocean based on that. But sometimes magma can find different pathways up the surface without a lot of warning.
At the moment it is impossible to know when and where a eruption might start. It depends on many factors. But it is now clear that magma is on the move upwards. So far the magma seems to be around 10 km up in the earth crust under El Hierro. So it is clear that the magma is on the way up and most likely preparing for a eruption.

Earthquake Swarm Continues On El Hierro, Canary Islands
    Tue Oct 04, 9:51 am

The Instituto Geografico Nacional (IGN) has reported surface deformations exceeding 35mm on the Spanish island of El Hierro, where residents have been alert for a possible volcanic eruption.

The number of earthquakes recorded since July 17 on the smallest of The Canary Islands exceeded 9250 on Tuesday morning.

IGN confirmed on Monday that 1172 earthquakes were recorded last week, the majority of which were located in the sea to the SW of the 280-sqkm island.

52 of the earthquakes were felt by the local population, estimated to be approximately 10,000. A further 10 earthquakes, exceeding 3.0 magnitude on the Richter Scale, were felt during Monday and early on Tuesday.

Hierro, a shield volcano, has had a single historic eruption from the Volcan de Lomo Negro vent in 1793. The eruption lasted approximately one month and produced lava flows.

The recent surge in the number and intensity of earthquakes prompted officials from the IGN and The Canary Islands Government to raise the alert level for the Hierro volcano to ‘Yellow’ late last month. http://www.irishweatheronline.com/news/earth-science/geology/earthquake-swarm-continues-on-el-hierro-canary-islands/40626.html
