I have been very intrigued by fractal geometry for quite a while and recently viewed a wonderful Nova program on the subject. It made me wonder if somehow seismic activity could be predicted using such a framework. Somehow the bigger picture would reflect the daily events. I do believe there is order within what appears, in the short term, or in the smaller picture, to be chaos.

Thanks for the graphics and summary Alvin. It really paints an ominous picture.

I’m very much prayer and so concerned over the lost. At church today, I spoke to my class and several of the leaders about some of the events and what they possibly mean. Also stressed the importance of reaching out to the lost. Some realize what it transpiring and others don’t.

Sometimes it’s hard to see how easily others brush it off like it’s nothing. But, unfortunately they will see for themselves soon enough and I take absoulutely not pleasure in that thought.

God be with each of you I’ve come to know on EP over the past months. I pray God will be as real as earthly possible to everyone of you.

  4. Just amazing. And September isn’t over yet. And this doesn’t cover the quakes that were barely under 6.0.

Irene: Dennis E. Here: It could get worst before the month’s out and October can be worst than September. Looking at what has been posted, I am under the belief, that several large scale events will/could occur at one time disrupting normal life for a period as the world response to disaster relief or whatever it can do.
Alvin has posted that we have crossed a threshold. I expect big events this week.
Now is the time to streamline your emergency supplies, to include personnel protection.

It does seem like there are more magnitude-6 quakes than there were before.

My question is, How Many 6-magnitude quakes *normally* occur in any given month, ‘on average’?

188 days between each major earthquake. 3 “6.0” plus earthquakes on Sept 15th plus a 7.o 188 days from the Japan earthquakes. Measured time between each? Sounds like birthpangs to me and they are getting closer together. Maranatha Father

    False Declaration of Our Independence
The aim of life is not to eat, drink, have unrestricted illicit sex in a vain attempt to enjoy by exploiting everything and everybody around us… this is animal mentality. Only humans have been given the power of enquiry to question who is God and what is my duty to him. Yet, in this material world by our practical daily activities in complete neglect of the Supreme Lord we falsely declare our independence from God. This is ludicrous because at every moment we are fully dependent upon God for everything: the air we breath, our food, water, clothing, shelter, and all other varieties of resources that we utilize to maintain our comforts of life. We cannot exist for a moment without these necessities of life, which He kindly supplies us. We should be constantly engaged in glorifying and remembering the transcendental name, fame, qualities, and pastimes of that most amazing Supreme Personality of Godhead, but yet we have the audacity to declare our independence by ignoring His existence.

I experienced several earth quakes when I lived in Californeeeya. The quake that collapsed the Nimitz bridge was very enlightening. I realized that the the experience from this quake was just an infantile peak into this planets full power. The images of the Tsunamis in Japan was even more enlightening. I actually embrace it. I wish man could conceive how dangerous the world and universe really is but geoglical time is not part of our consciousness. As a result, we just go on business as usual without comprehending the big picture and what it means and how it should apply to what we do each and every day.

I currently reside in the Northwest and I expect the big one to hit here in my life time. I believe a massive quake hits this region about every 200,000 years and we have reached that span since the last big one. Bring it on. A rebuild of our city planning is well over-due.

That is a great insight, Tincup.

I THINK that, is what many of the world’s great religions are trying to teach Mankind.
Many of the world’s ‘mythologies’ and religions have stories about long-forgotten disasters and cataclysms ….. It is ‘encoded knowledge’ for future generations.

Nowadays, modern man is too consumed with how the markets are going to perform.
That requires *stability*….Which is taken for granted.
    This is a great mistake.

Right on Nick! I agree with you. Man from the past has been trying to give us hints from various means…religion, myths, philosphy, etc…but we tend to ingnore some of the great treasures available to us from those that have come before. Large catastrophies wake people up to the fact we should be working together for our survival first and our progress as a species second. But that would require one to think about more than his/her personal gain in the short-term. We should look at life as a marathon…generation by generation, but each generation thinks life is a sprint.

  18. This information is premature and not dramatic. I got the following data from USGS. Regarding quakes of magnitude 6.0 and greater, there have been:
    24 quakes in 2002 month 10
    24 quakes in 2004 month 11
    23 quakes in 2004 month 12
    23 quakes in 2005 month 01
    32 quakes in 2007 month 04
    27 quakes in 2007 month 09
    21 quakes in 2008 month 04
    34 quakes in 2009 month 10
    23 quakes in 2010 month 02
    72 quakes in 2011 month 03
Searches before year 2000 yeild similar results. There are also plenty of months with 18-20 quakes greater than 6.0 magnitude.
